Chapter 315 Don't Want to Make it Difficult for Sharon
The familiar scent of pine resin hit Sharon, making her pause for a moment.
It wasn't until the crowd thinned out that Seb let go of her.
"You okay?" Seb's cool, deep voice came from above. Sharon pressed her lips together and whispered, "I'm fine."
Seb gave a slight nod.
"Daddy, can you and Mommy ride the carousel with me?"
Demetrius looked up at Seb, completely oblivious to what had just happened, not noticing Sharon's distraction.
Seb thought the carousel was pretty childish.
Just as he was about to say no, Demetrius grabbed his leg and looked up at him with hopeful eyes.
Facing Demetrius's eager gaze, Seb's refusal turned into a reluctant, "Alright."
They lined up for the carousel. Just as it was almost their turn, Sharon's phone rang.
Seeing it was Zachary calling, she looked up at Seb, "I'll take this call. If it's our turn, take Demetrius on the ride."
Seb, being taller than Sharon, had seen the name flashing on the screen when she took out her phone.
Ever since learning the truth from Tyler, Seb's feelings towards Sharon had become complicated, shifting from disdain to something more nuanced.
For instance, he knew Zachary was her boyfriend, and he shouldn't care about their interaction, but it still bugged him a bit.
After a moment of silence, Seb suppressed his emotions and said in a deep voice, "Alright, but if possible, come back quickly. Demetrius wants to ride the carousel with us."
Seb emphasized the word "us."
Sharon nodded, "Okay."
She stepped aside and answered the phone. "Zachary, what's up?"
Zachary's gentle voice came from the other end, "Sharon, what are you doing now? How about taking Demetrius out for lunch? I haven't seen him in a while."
Hearing that, Sharon's grip on the phone tightened unconsciously, and she whispered, "Today might not be convenient. We're out right now."
"Do you have plans today?" Zachary asked.
"Yes, it's not convenient to talk now. I'll contact you when I get back."
"Alright," Zachary replied softly.
After hanging up, Sharon let out a sigh of relief.
For some reason, she didn't want Zachary to know she was at the amusement park with Seb and Demetrius.
Although Zachary said he didn't mind her past with Seb, they were now living in the same villa. If he knew about today, he might misunderstand, so it was better not to tell him.
When Sharon returned, it was their turn.
Seeing her pale face, Seb frowned, "What's wrong? Did something happen?"
Sharon shook her head, "No, nothing."
Seb's eyes darkened, but he didn't push further.
After all, Zachary was Sharon's boyfriend now, and he was just Demetrius's father.
While playing with Demetrius, Sharon seemed distracted. Demetrius was too focused on playing to notice, but Seb did.
After a day at the amusement park, Demetrius was still super excited when they left.
"Mommy, Daddy, can we come back next time?"
Sharon looked down at Demetrius, seeing his eyes on Seb, a hint of sadness flashed in her eyes.
Although she knew Demetrius was afraid Seb would say no, seeing him so close to Seb still made her feel a bit heartbroken.
Seb glanced at Sharon, noticing she seemed lost in thought, and frowned a bit.
Ever since she took Zachary's call at noon, she had been like this. Was Zachary really that important to her?
"Daddy," Demetrius called out.
Seb snapped back to reality and looked down at Demetrius, then picked him up. "Alright, if you like it, we can come every week."
"Yay!" Demetrius clapped his hands excitedly, his face lighting up with joy.
Since it was getting late, they found a nearby restaurant for dinner.
After ordering, Sharon got up to go to the restroom.
The restaurant had wooden lattice partitions between each table, adorned with green leaves, providing both beauty and privacy.
As Sharon walked past the partitions towards the restroom, a surprised voice suddenly called out.
"Sharon?"
Hearing the voice, Sharon's body stiffened.
She turned slowly to see it was indeed Zachary, feeling a pang of guilt.
Forcing a smile, she said, "Zachary, what a coincidence. What are you doing here?"
Zachary was clearly pleased to see her, his voice gentle. "I'm here for a business meeting. I didn't expect to run into you. Is Demetrius with you?"
Sharon nodded reluctantly, "Yes, since you're here for business, I won't disturb you."
Zachary quickly replied, "It's fine, I've done with my meeting. Where are you sitting?"
Knowing she couldn't avoid the topic, Sharon told him their table's location and added, "By the way, Seb is here too."
Hearing that, Zachary paused, finally understanding Sharon's earlier hesitation.
A look of disappointment flashed in his eyes, but he didn't want to make it difficult for Sharon.
"Then I won't join you. Let's have a meal together another time when you and Demetrius are free." With that, Zachary turned to leave.
Watching his back, Sharon bit her lip and quickly stepped forward to grab his hand. "Zachary, don't go. You probably didn't eat enough during your business meeting. Join us for dinner."
Zachary looked at her in disbelief and shook his head, "No, with Seb there, it would just make things awkward for you."
"No." Sharon looked up at him, her eyes firm, "Seb and I are in the past. You're my boyfriend now, and he's Demetrius' biological father. You'll have to meet him eventually."
Even if not this time, there would be a next time. Sharon didn't want to keep making Zachary feel uncomfortable; it wasn't fair to him.
Zachary unconsciously tightened his grip on her hand, "Alright."
Seb was chatting with Demetrius when he saw Sharon's figure out of the corner of his eye and looked up.
The next second, seeing Zachary behind her, Seb frowned.
Seb and Zachary's eyes met, one cold and impatient, the other gentle.
At the table, Sharon looked at Seb and said, "Mr. Smith, you don't mind an extra person, do you?"
Seb's brows furrowed, his voice indifferent, "Ms. Roach, if I remember correctly, today was supposed to be our day with Demetrius. Having an outsider seems inappropriate, doesn't it?"
Sharon smiled, "As long as Demetrius doesn't mind."
Then she turned to Demetrius and asked, "Demetrius, do you want Mr. Cook to join us for dinner?"
