Chapter 9 I'm Pregnant
In the next moment, a bouquet of flowers appeared in front of her.
The flowers were Juliet Roses, the same ones he had given her when he confessed his love, symbolizing protective love and representing pure, sincere affection.
Since then, every time she went to the florist, she only bought this type of flower.
However, at this moment, looking at the budding flowers in front of her, Sharon only felt irony.
From the moment Alex cheated, their marriage no longer deserved the beautiful words sincere and everlasting.
Seeing her bow her head in silence, Alex bit his lip and said softly, "I passed by the florist today and thought I'd buy you some flowers."
Sharon pulled her hand away from his and looked up at him. Her eyes showed disgust, disdain, and indifference, with no trace of love left.
She said, "I don't need them. I never liked these flowers."
Alex was stunned for a moment and couldn't help but ask, "But every time you go to the florist, you buy Juliet Roses."
Sharon averted her gaze. He had probably long forgotten that the flowers he gave her when he confessed were Juliet Roses. But it didn't matter. After all, if he could betray their love, he wouldn't care about such small details.
Sharon said, "That was in the past."
Sharon walked past him and went straight to the bedroom. She could feel Alex's gaze on her, but she no longer cared whether he felt disappointed.
After changing her clothes, Sharon lingered in the bedroom all afternoon. Alex eventually took a call and hurried back to the company.
In the evening, Sharon went downstairs. Alex had already come home from work and was sitting on the couch. Nanny Lopez, the maid had set dinner on the table.
Nanny said, "Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith, dinner is ready."
Sharon nodded and went straight to the dining table, not giving Alex a single glance.
Alex frowned slightly but still sat silently across from her, saying nothing.
Nanny sensed the tension between Alex and Sharon and guessed they had argued again.
She picked up the flowers in the living room and smiled at Sharon. "Mrs. Smith, should I place this flower in your room as usual?"
Sharon replied, "No, just throw it away."
Previously, when Alex and Sharon argued, Sharon had never been this cold. Nanny was stunned for a moment and felt a bit panicked, instinctively looking at Alex.
Alex lowered his head to eat and said indifferently, "Do as she says. Throw it away."
Realizing she had misspoken, Nanny felt a pang of regret and quickly put the flowers down, turning back to the kitchen.
After some hesitation, Nanny decided to message Alex's mother. This disagreement felt unlike any they had experienced before.
After dinner, Sharon went straight back to the bedroom. Just as she was about to close the door, Alex's hand stopped it.
He asked, "Sharon, are you planning to stay this cold towards me forever? We are supposed to live together. I'd rather you yell at me than endure your cold shoulder."
Sharon looked up and saw Alex, whose eyes were filled with helplessness, just like every time he came to console her after an argument. But Sharon's face remained expressionless.
Alex always tried to downplay his cheating, using her softness to gain forgiveness. But after eight years together, she knew him to the core. If she forgave Alex easily this time, she would face countless heartbreaks in the future. If she gave up her principles, she wouldn't receive guilt in return, but rather greater hurt each time.
"If I were the one who cheated, could you remain calm and even forgive me in such a short time?" she questioned.
Alex's hand gripped the doorknob tightly, veins bulging, and his eyes filled with anger. He thought to himself, 'If I see Sharon being intimate with someone else, I'll probably lose my mind!'
Seeing Alex's anger, Sharon found it amusing. "See, you can't even do it yourself, so why demand it of me?"
Alex looked down at her, enunciating each word clearly, "Sharon, I'll give you space to wrap your head around this, but know this—I ain't ever letting you go."
He realized the real reason she was looking for a job was to get away from him. But he would make her understand that it was all in vain.
The possessiveness and obsession in Alex's eyes made Sharon's heart tremble involuntarily, and a chill ran down her spine. She knew that despite Alex's gentle and elegant exterior, he was a maniac who was extremely difficult to control. If she insisted on getting a divorce, the outcome would probably not be pleasant.
Seeing the fear in her eyes, Alex realized he had scared her, and his expression softened a bit. "Don't be afraid. Stay by my side, and I won't hurt you."
He reached out to brush away the hair on her forehead, but she instinctively stepped back, and his hand stopped in mid-air. The awkward atmosphere between them solidified for a few seconds before Alex finally withdrew his hand.
Alex said, "I'm going on a business trip tomorrow for half a month. When I come back, I'll move back into the bedroom. I hope you'll be mentally prepared. Good night."
Sharon closed the door, her back already covered in a thin layer of sweat. She understood that Alex's words meant he was giving her half a month to accept his infidelity.
It seemed her decision to move out was indeed a wise one.
Meanwhile, Alex was in the study handling some affairs, preparing to go to bed when his phone suddenly rang. It was a message from Ava: [Mr. Smith, I'm pregnant.]
He grabbed his phone abruptly, staring at the words, his mind in turmoil. Every time he had sex with Ava, he had taken precautions. This could mean she was lying, or she had tampered with the condoms.
In either case, Ava had crossed Alex's bottom line.
He immediately called Ava, "Where are you now?"
Hearing the coldness and anger in his voice, Ava felt a pang in her heart. "Mr. Smith, I'm pregnant. Aren't you even a little happy?"
Alex sneered, "Are you sure it's my baby?"
Ava replied, "Mr. Smith, I've only had sex with you. Whose baby do you think it is?"
Ava's tone carried uncertainty and hurt, but to Alex, it was annoying. "Then go get an abortion," he uttered icily.
Besides Sharon, he didn't need any other woman to have his baby. Ava's willingness to throw herself at him was just a game to him.
Ava refused, "No, this is our baby, and I want to keep it."
Alex's brow furrowed, filled with irritation. If he had known Ava was this foolish, he wouldn't have even bothered with her. "Let me ask you one more time, where the hell are you?"
There was a long silence on the other end before Ava said with a sobbing voice, "Mr. Smith, are you asking where I am to force me to get an abortion?"
Alex remained silent, his silence was his answer.
Ava said, "If you don't want this baby, I'll give birth to it and raise it alone. I won't let it know who its father is."
Before she could finish, Alex hung up the phone and immediately contacted his secretary to find Ava's whereabouts.
He knew in his heart that it was Ava's scheme. After the last incident, he had kicked Ava out of the company, but she had left a backup plan.
'No matter what, this baby has to be aborted, or my relationship with Sharon will truly be over.' he thought.
