Chapter 351 It's Not You Choosing Others, But Others Choosing You

"Alright, close your eyes and think. If he kissed you, would you push him away?" Sophie asked.

Sharon took a moment. She didn't feel like she'd push him away, but she wasn't exactly excited about it either.

Sharon shared her thoughts with Sophie. Sophie felt a pang of sympathy for Zachary. The guy had been chasing Sharon for five years, and she still didn't have feelings for him.

Sophie pressed on, "Okay, now imagine if it was Seb trying to kiss you?"

"No way," Sharon shot back immediately, a hint of disdain in her voice.

She never thought about getting back with Seb. After all, the pain they once inflicted upon each other was real, and with five years of separation, it was impossible to return to the past.

"Why are you so sure?" Sophie asked.

Sharon pursed her lips. "Because I know I don't want anything to do with him."

Sophie sighed, "Sharon, there's a difference between not wanting anything to do with him and not liking him. You need to figure out if you don't want anything to do with him because you don't like him, or if you're forcing yourself not to like him because you don't want anything to do with him."

Sharon was silent, thinking, 'Is there a difference? Either way, I don't want anything to do with him.'

"Sophie, let's drop it. I need your help figuring out my feelings for Zachary. This has nothing to do with Seb," Sharon said.

"Well, I need a reference point. Otherwise, how can you tell?" Sophie replied.

"Alright," Sharon agreed.

After a few seconds, Sophie said, "Honestly, you said you wouldn't push Zachary away if he kissed you, but you also don't look forward to it. I can't tell what you feel for him. Why don't you try doing more couple stuff with him, like kissing and hugging, and see if you feel uncomfortable when he's close to other girls."

Sharon took in Sophie's advice and felt a bit clearer.

"Okay, I get it. I'll do what you said," Sharon responded.

Sophie sounded puzzled, "But I'm still curious. You were with Alex for eight years and then liked Seb. How can you not know what it feels like to like someone and be unsure about Zachary?"

Sharon looked down and said calmly, "Because Zachary means a lot to me, and we've been together for five years. We're super close. For the past five years, I've been swamped with work and spent the rest of my time on Demetrius, so I can't be sure if I like him."

Sharon was cautious because she was scared she might actually like Zachary but she didn't realize it because they were so familiar, and she didn't want to miss out on him.

She was also scared she might just feel grateful to him and mistake it for love, which would hurt him.

"Alright, I get it. Just follow what I said for now, and we'll talk later," Sophie advised.

After hanging up, Sophie put down her phone and couldn't help but smile bitterly.

Her own love life was a mess, yet here she was, playing love advisor for Sharon.

There was a knock at the door.

"Sophie, are you asleep?" Maria's gentle voice came through.

"Not yet, Mom. Come in," Sophie replied.

Maria opened the door, holding a cup of hot milk.

She placed the milk on the bedside table and said softly, "I made you some hot milk. Drink it before you sleep."

Sophie picked up the cup and stirred the milk with a spoon. "Thanks, Mom."

Seeing her start to drink, Maria smiled warmly. "How was the auction today? Did you get any jewelry you liked?"

Sophie nodded, "Yeah, I did. Oh, I got a set for you too! Let me grab it."

Maria stopped her. "No need. You can give it to me tomorrow. Drink your milk first. I came over tonight because I have something to tell you."

"What is it?" Sophie asked.

"Remember to dress modestly for tomorrow's blind date. The Reyes family is pretty traditional and doesn't like flashy girls," Maria advised.

Sophie paused mid-sip and frowned at Maria, "Mom, even if I can pretend to be someone I'm not tomorrow, I can't pretend forever. I think it's better to just be myself."

Besides, she wasn't some product that needed to be dressed up to meet someone else's standards.

"Sophie, I know you don't want to go on a blind date, but our family isn't what it used to be. You're not getting any younger. It's not about you choosing others anymore; it's about them choosing you. Blind dates are about showing your best side with the aim of marriage. Trust me, I wouldn't steer you wrong," Maria said earnestly.

Seeing Maria's sincere expression, Sophie felt helpless and could only nod, "Alright, I get it."

"Good, then I won't disturb you. Finish your milk and get some rest," Maria said.

After Maria left, Sophie looked down at the milk in her hand, losing her appetite.

She put the milk back on the tray, pursed her lips, and felt really down about the blind date tomorrow.

Back at the villa, Grace sensed the tense atmosphere in the living room.

Looking towards the center of the room, she saw Victor's gloomy and unpleasant face.

She calmly averted her gaze and changed her shoes as if nothing had happened.

"Come here," Victor ordered, his voice filled with suppressed anger, his eyes burning with fury.

Grace paused but still walked towards him slowly.

As soon as she got close, she was met with a slap.

"Idiot! Who told you to provoke Sophie and Sharon?" Victor shouted. He had figured out that if Grace hadn't been so arrogant and deliberately raised the price, Sophie wouldn't have outmaneuvered her. In the end, it was Grace's own doing!

His slap was strong, and Grace was knocked to the ground, a bright red handprint instantly appearing on her face.

She looked up at Victor with a mocking expression. "Victor, if you were capable, you wouldn't be angry at me for provoking others, nor would you hit me over ten million dollars."

It was because Victor was useless that he took his anger out on her.

"How dare you blame me?" Victor raised his hand to hit her again, but this time Grace didn't flinch. Instead, she met his eyes directly.

"Go ahead, hit me to death. I've had enough of this miserable life!" Grace shouted, her eyes burning with anger.

Victor's hand paused in mid-air and didn't come down.

Grace sneered, "Coward!"

"Say that again!" Victor's barely suppressed anger flared up again, his eyes red, ready to hit Grace once more.

"Am I wrong? Apart from me, who else do you dare to hit? The one who messed up the Edwards Group is Seb, but you don't even dare to face him. You only take your anger out on me. You're really pathetic and ridiculous!" Grace yelled.
