Chapter 503 There Will Be Traces
Sharon sat down across from him and asked, "I heard that the Galaxy chip released by Vertex Innovations Group stole data from Silvercrest Group's Nebula 6. Is that true?"
Seb frowned. "That's company business. You don't need to worry about it."
Seeing his expression, Sharon knew that what Jake had said was probably true.
"Have you found the person who leaked the company data?"
"Not yet. I'm having people look into employees who've recently been in contact with Vertex Innovations Group."
Seeing the exhaustion on Seb's face, Sharon felt a pang of sympathy and said softly, "Just investigating the employees won't help. The person who leaked all the Nebula 6 data to Vertex Innovations Group is likely someone with significant influence in the company. Have you looked into the shareholders of Silvercrest Group?"
Seb's face darkened. "No, but if the employee investigation doesn't turn up anything, I'll have Paul look into the shareholders."
The shareholders of Silvercrest Group were deeply tied to the company's interests, so Seb was reluctant to suspect them of leaking company data, as it would also harm their own interests. Any rational person would likely not do something so self-destructive.
Sharon nodded. "If the shareholders don't turn up anything either... I can try to talk to Leo and see if I can get anything out of him."
As soon as she finished speaking, Seb's face turned cold. "No way! We both know what Leo thinks of you. If the company needs you to sacrifice yourself just to survive, I'd rather see the company go bankrupt."
As a man, if he couldn't protect his own woman and instead let her fight on the front lines, he would undoubtedly be a failure.
Seeing his grim expression, Sharon didn't continue the topic. She said softly, "I just came up to ask you about this. I don't have anything else to discuss, so I won't disturb your work. I'll head back now, and don't work too late."
"Okay. You don't have to wait up for me tonight. I might be back very late."
Most likely, he wouldn't be able to come back tonight, but he didn't want Sharon to worry, so he didn't say anything.
"Alright."
After leaving Seb's office, Sharon went to pick up Demetrius from kindergarten.
Just as she reached the entrance, she ran into Leo.
Leo smiled and said, "Sharon, did you watch the chip launch event by Vertex Innovations Group today?"
Sharon glanced at him. "What are you trying to say?"
"Today was just the beginning. Vertex Innovations Group will be launching more products soon. Before long, we'll replace Silvercrest Group as the biggest company in Metropolis."
Seeing his confident expression, Sharon remained indifferent. "I wish you success."
Leo's smile faded a bit as he felt her coldness.
"Sharon, even if Vertex Innovations Group becomes more powerful than Silvercrest Group, you still wouldn't come to me?"
Sharon looked at him seriously. "Leo, whether your company becomes the biggest in Metropolis or the entire country, it has nothing to do with me. I don't like you. I never did, and I never will. Instead of wasting your time on me, you should try to get back together with Ayla."
In her view, Leo's current desire to be with her was just an obsession from not getting what he wanted in the past. She didn't believe he truly liked her. Besides, they had once been step-siblings, and although they weren't related by blood, Sharon genuinely saw him as a brother. Being with him felt like incest to her.
Leo's smile turned cold. "Sharon, when Seb's company goes bankrupt, you'll come back to me."
"First of all, we were never together, so there's no 'coming back.' Secondly, if I'm forced to be with you, I'd rather die."
After she spoke, Leo's face turned very ugly.
Finally, he clenched his fists at his sides, and the veins on his forehead bulged.
"You hate me that much?"
"Yes."
Whether it was his past harassment or his current persistence, it all made her feel disgusted and repulsed. If he truly loved her, how could he keep pushing her to be with him?
Leo didn't say anything more, but his eyes were full of darkness.
Whether Sharon hated him or was indifferent, he would still try to be with her.
Soon, Demetrius came out.
Sharon didn't look at Leo again and left with Demetrius.
Leo watched the black Maybach gradually disappear from his sight, his face growing darker.
"Dad, why did you come to pick me up today?"
Feeling a small, soft hand grab his, Leo looked down to see Jerold's curious eyes.
He smiled, picked Jerold up, and said gently, "Dad finished work early today, so I came to pick you up."
Jerold hugged his neck. "I wish Dad could pick me up every day."
Knowing that Ayla didn't want him anymore, Jerold understood that he had to please Leo to avoid being abandoned again. So now, he was carefully trying to please Leo.
Leo enjoyed Jerold's dependence on him and said with a smile, "I'll try to finish work early and pick you up every day."
"Okay, thanks, Dad! You're the best!"
Jerold kissed Leo on the cheek, his face full of a flattering smile.
However, Leo didn't notice, or maybe he didn't care, as he enjoyed the feeling of being needed by Jerold.
After dropping Jerold off at home, Leo went out again.
Tonight, he had booked the most luxurious hotel in Metropolis to celebrate the successful launch of the Galaxy chip.
In attendance were not only the employees of Vertex Innovations Group but also many of Metropolis's elite.
Among them, of course, was Seb.
Seeing Seb, Leo walked over and smiled. "Mr. Smith, I didn't expect you to come."
Seb smirked, but his eyes were cold. "Mr. Wendy sent an invitation. Why wouldn't I come? Or are you saying you didn't want me here?"
"Mr. Smith, you misunderstand. Of course, you're welcome. I just thought, with Silvercrest Group's Nebula 5 having issues and Nebula 6 not yet developed, you might find it hard to enjoy the party."
Hearing the mockery in his tone, Seb looked at him calmly. "Mr. Wendy, if you created such an impressive chip through your own efforts, I'd congratulate you. But if you did it by stealing someone else's data, I'd find it laughable."
Leo raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Smith, you can say what you want, but without evidence, it's easy to be sued for slander."
"If you did it, there will be traces. I'm sure the truth will come out soon."
