Chapter 468 This Is the Husband She Carefully Chosen!
Ayla turned to look at Damon, who was standing nearby watching the drama, her eyes full of disgust.
"Damon, don't get cocky. You know your limits, and the Bridges Group will never be yours!"
Damon's eyes flashed cold for a second, but then he smirked.
"You've got some nerve. You almost tanked the Bridges Group by teaming up with Starlight Corporation, then you messed up the Silvercrest Group bid and got yourself in hot water. Not many people can screw up like you."
Ayla struggled to her feet, glaring daggers at him. "Once the Starlight Corporation project is done, those losses won't mean a thing. I'll still be the general manager of the Bridges Group!"
Damon sneered, "Keep dreaming. All the shareholders want you out. By the time the Starlight project wraps up, you'll be long gone. Maybe you should just take Grandpa's allowance and play house instead of dragging the company down."
"Shut up! You have no right to say that!"
"Fine, maybe I don't. But just wait and see who really has no right."
With that, Damon brushed past her and left.
Ayla's eyes burned with anger and resentment. After everything she'd done for the company, she was being kicked out. She blamed Garry for not giving her a chance and siding with the shareholders.
Limping back to the villa, Carol rushed over to help her. "Ms. Bridges, what happened to your leg?"
"It's nothing. Where's Leo?"
She'd been stuck at the police station for two days, and Leo hadn't even checked on her.
This was the husband she had carefully chosen!
Carol sighed, "He's been working late these past two days, coming home really late."
"Call him and tell him to come back now!"
"Okay, but let's get you inside first. You're freezing. Take a hot bath so you don't catch a cold."
After helping Ayla into the bathroom and running a bath, Carol went downstairs to call Leo.
When Leo heard Ayla was back, he said indifferently, "Alright, I'll be there soon."
By the time he got home, Ayla had already bathed, eaten dinner, and was lounging on the couch watching TV.
"Ayla, you're back."
Hearing Leo's voice, Ayla looked up coldly. "I've been in the police station for two days. Why didn't you get me a lawyer or come see me?"
"I've been working overtime, and you're the general manager of the Bridges Group. This involves the Silvercrest Group, so I couldn't step in."
Ayla nodded. "You sound so noble, Leo. Have I been too good to you?"
Leo's smile faded, and he looked annoyed. "Ayla, you come back and start picking a fight. Do you want to argue?"
"You haven't even done your job as a husband. Shouldn't I be upset?"
Facing Ayla's fierce gaze, Leo suddenly smiled and sat down across from her. "Ayla, remember the day of the bid? I tried to comfort you, and you slapped me."
"So what?"
"I told you then I wanted a divorce. I still do, and I'm done putting up with your crap." His eyes were cold, indifferent.
Ayla's heart clenched, and she hurled the remote at Leo's face, her anger flaring. "Leo, I said no divorce! Get that idea out of your head!"
Leo dodged the remote, a smirk on his lips. "Ayla, whether we divorce or not isn't up to you."
He used to put up with Ayla for Jerold's sake. But now, with her getting more erratic over the Bridges Group, he was done pretending.
"Not up to me? You think it's up to you? Leo, you have no power. Wanting a divorce without my say-so is a joke."
Leo raised an eyebrow. "Don't worry, within a week, you'll agree. And about Jerold, if you don't want him, I'll take him."
With that, he got up and left.
Ayla's face darkened. "Leo, stop right there! If you walk out that door, I'll make your life hell!"
But her threat fell on deaf ears. Leo didn't even pause and walked out.
Ayla was so furious she nearly lost it, smashing everything in the living room.
Jerold heard the commotion and peeked out of his room. Seeing the mess, he shrank back, too scared to approach.
Ayla was terrifying now... He'd never seen her like this.
Noticing Jerold in the corner, Ayla turned to him, her eyes fierce. "Jerold, come here."
Jerold, scared out of his wits, instinctively backed away. "No."
"I said come here! Don't you understand?" As she spoke, Ayla walked towards Jerold.
Jerold, eyes wide with fear, turned to run back to his room, but Ayla grabbed him by the collar after just two steps.
Meanwhile, after leaving the villa, Leo drove to another place he owned.
He'd bought this villa five years ago for Sharon. Everything inside was decorated to her taste.
But before he could give it to her, he got news of Sharon's drowning.
Soon, though, he'd have the chance to show her this villa.
The things he hadn't given her before, he would now.
For the next few days, Leo didn't return.
On the third morning, Jerold called him. "Dad, when are you coming back? Mom is so scary now... She hits me every day... I'm so scared."
Leo frowned, not expecting Ayla to take out her anger on Jerold. "Okay, Dad will come back right away."
When Leo returned to the villa, he saw Ayla sitting in the living room, while Jerold cowered nearby, eyes full of fear.
Seeing Leo, Ayla sneered. "If I hadn't told Jerold to call you, were you planning not to come back?"
Leo's eyes were cold. "Ayla, the divorce is between us. Why take it out on Jerold?"
Judging by Jerold's appearance, he had been beaten several times in the past few days.
