Chapter 514 Did You Teach Him These Words?

Leo glanced at Connie and said, "Alright, but I know these kids. Demetrius isn't the type to start trouble, while Jerold's always causing a ruckus at home. If I'm not wrong, this whole thing was probably Jerold's doing, right?"

Connie's face changed, and she nodded. "From what I found out, Jerold did insult Demetrius first, which led to Demetrius hitting him. But Demetrius threw the first punch, so he's also to blame."

Before she could finish, Sharon, who had been quiet until now, spoke up. "Ms. Price, I need to know, what exactly did Jerold say to Demetrius?"

Connie looked uneasy and hesitated, unsure of how to respond. The things Jerold said were pretty harsh, and she felt embarrassed to repeat them in front of Sharon and Leo.

"He... he said you wanted to be his stepmom and marry Mr. Wendy, or something like that..."

As her words hung in the air, the office fell into a heavy silence.

Sharon let out a cold laugh and looked at Leo. "Did you teach him to say that?"

Leo's eyes flickered. "Sharon, do you really think I'd say something like that to him?"

"If not you, then who? Do you think it was me or Demetrius? Do you think I want to marry you?"

Seeing the disdain in Sharon's eyes, Leo took a deep breath and said slowly, "Sharon, I don't know why he would say such things, but I definitely didn't teach him that. If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do."

"Fine, let's say you didn't. But your son said those things to Demetrius. Don't you think you should reflect on why a kid his age would say something like that?"

She couldn't believe that Jerold would say such things without someone influencing him.

Leo nodded. "You're right, it's my fault. I apologize. I'll make sure to educate Jerold better so he doesn't say things like that again."

Seeing his sincere expression, Sharon didn't bother to question his honesty. "Since you say that, I have nothing more to add. I'll cover Jerold's medical expenses."

After all, Demetrius did injure Jerold, and it wouldn't be right not to pay for his medical bills.

"No need. This whole thing started because of Jerold. I can't accept the medical expenses. Sharon, I apologize on Jerold's behalf. I'm sorry."

Sharon pursed her lips. "Still, take him to the hospital for a check-up to make sure there's nothing serious. I don't want any unnecessary trouble later. I'll cover any necessary compensation."

She also needed to get Demetrius checked out.

Seeing Sharon's insistence, Leo agreed. "Alright, then you and Demetrius can ride with me to the hospital. We'll get him checked out too."

"No need, I have my own car. Golden Gate Hospital is nearby. We'll meet you at the entrance."

With that, Sharon took Demetrius and left.

Once in the car, Sharon looked at Demetrius. "Demetrius, are you feeling any discomfort? I'll have the doctor give you a thorough check-up."

Demetrius shook his head. "Mom, he didn't hit me."

"Are you sure you're not hurt anywhere?"

"Yes."

Seeing that he didn't seem to be lying, Sharon finally relaxed a bit. "You can't be so impulsive in the future. Do you know how worried I was when I got a call saying you were fighting with Jerold at preschool?"

"Mom, I'm sorry."

Sharon reached out and gently patted his head. "I know you were mad about what Jerold said, but next time, tell the teacher first. If the teacher doesn't handle it, come to me. I'll take care of it."

"You're my precious baby. If you get hurt in a fight, it would break my heart."

Demetrius hung his head and nodded after a moment. "Okay, I understand."

"Let's go to the hospital. After the check-up, if everything's fine, I'll take you home. No school for today."

"Okay."

When Sharon arrived at the hospital, Leo and Jerold were already waiting at the entrance.

She held Demetrius's hand and walked up to them, her expression cold. "Let's go."

Noticing Sharon's frosty demeanor, Leo walked beside her and whispered, "Sharon, this really was an accident."

"You don't need to explain. I don't care."

With that, she quickened her pace, clearly not wanting to continue the conversation.

Watching her slender figure, Leo's eyes darkened.

"Dad, you're hurting my hand!"

Jerold's complaint snapped Leo out of his thoughts, and he quickly let go.

Inside the hospital, doctors and nurses soon arrived to examine Demetrius and Jerold.

As Demetrius had said, he was fine. Jerold, on the other hand, had some scrapes and a swollen face, but nothing serious. A bit of ointment and he'd be fine in a few days.

Confirming that Demetrius was uninjured, Sharon finally felt relieved.

Holding the medical report, she looked at Leo. "I'll cover the check-up and Jerold's medical expenses."

Leo sighed. "Sharon, there's no need to be so formal with me."

Sharon frowned, about to respond when her phone rang.

Seeing it was Seb, she bit her lip and took Demetrius aside to answer.

"Hello, what's up?"

Seb's deep voice came through the phone. "Sharon, where are you right now?"

Sharon paused, glancing around. Did Seb somehow know she was at the hospital? Why else would he ask?

"Why? Do you need something?"

"No, Dana just mentioned you hadn't come back yet, so I called to check."

Sharon checked the time. It was almost ten. She had dropped Demetrius off at preschool at 7:30, so she should have been home by now.

After a moment's hesitation, she decided not to tell him about the fight, not wanting to worry him.

"After dropping off Demetrius, I decided to go out for a bit. Do you want me to bring you lunch?"

"No need. There are a lot of procedures for the company's bankruptcy. I'll just grab something quick."

"Alright, then. You get back to work."

"Okay."

Hanging up, Sharon put her phone away and turned to Leo. "Give me the check-up and prescription slips. I'll go pay."

"Sharon, there's really no need..."

"Leo, I don't want to repeat myself. If you don't give them to me, I'll transfer the money to your account."

"Alright." Leo handed her the slips. Without another word, Sharon took them and walked away.

After paying, she turned to Leo, who was still holding Jerold's hand. "I've paid. This matter is settled. I hope you can keep your son in check and stop him from saying such things to Demetrius again!"
