Chapter 493 Did You Forget Something?
Leo had made too many enemies. If someone decided to frame him one day, there might not be anyone willing to help him.
Leo's gaze turned dark as he looked at Seb. He then spoke, "Mr. Smith, you're being a bit unfair. Jerold has always gotten along well with his classmates. Before Demetrius transferred here, he never had any conflicts with anyone. Everyone can attest to that, and Ms. Price can confirm it too."
"This time, it was indeed Jerold's fault, but it's normal for kids to push and shove when they have disagreements. Accusing Jerold of bullying other students seems a bit far-fetched, don't you think?"
Seb smiled slightly. "I'm just reasonably suspicious. I didn't say he definitely did it. But if he can push Demetrius in front of everyone today, who knows if he'll push another student tomorrow, right?"
"Mr. Smith, there's no need to make baseless assumptions about things that haven't happened. It's quite malicious to think so poorly of a child who's only a few years old."
"Then you misunderstand me. I'm just concerned about the safety of the other children. No one wants their kid to come home from preschool with injuries."
As soon as Seb finished speaking, other parents chimed in.
"Exactly. I saw Jerold suddenly pounce on Demetrius earlier. It was so aggressive that even I, as an adult, was scared. I can't imagine what would happen if he did that to my child."
"He's probably jealous that Demetrius won so many first-place awards today, while he didn't win any."
"If he resorts to violence over something so trivial, that's really frightening. I need to seriously consider transferring my child. Having such an unstable classmate is too dangerous."
Listening to the parents' discussions, Leo's expression grew increasingly grim.
He took a deep breath and addressed the crowd, "Parents, I know Jerold was wrong today, but he's just a few years old. Recently, his mother and I got divorced, so his emotions might be a bit extreme, and he might have scared everyone. I sincerely apologize to Demetrius and promise that this won't happen again."
"If he ever lays a hand on another child, I'll transfer him immediately. I hope you can give him another chance."
Most of the people present were aware of Leo and Ayla's divorce.
Seeing Jerold with red, tear-streaked eyes, they couldn't help but feel a bit of sympathy.
After all, he's just a few years old, and his parents' sudden divorce is a significant blow.
Noticing the subtle change in the crowd's attitude, Leo felt a glimmer of hope and was about to press his advantage when Seb spoke up.
"If his emotions are unstable, I suggest you take him home until he's more stable. The divorce is between you and your ex-wife. No one here forced you to divorce. The harm to Jerold is your responsibility, and others shouldn't have to bear the consequences. It's not an excuse for him to hurt his classmates."
Leo's face changed, and after a moment, he lowered his head. "Mr. Smith, you're right. I'll keep Jerold at home for now and bring him back when he's more stable. Is that satisfactory?"
Seb raised an eyebrow and replied coolly, "It's not about satisfaction. It's about the safety of the other kids."
Leo lowered his gaze, anger flickering in his eyes. What else could he say now?
"Mr. Smith, I appreciate the lesson today."
After the matter was resolved, the other parents quickly left with their children, keeping a cautious distance from Jerold and Leo. After all, who knew if Jerold might lose control again and pounce on another child?
Soon, only Seb's family and Leo's remained at the entrance.
Leo looked coldly at Seb. "If there's nothing else, Mr. Smith, I'll take Jerold and leave."
"Mr. Wendy, shouldn't your son apologize to Demetrius?"
Leo's face stiffened. He took a deep breath and looked down at Jerold, speaking coldly, "Jerold, apologize to Demetrius."
Jerold looked up at him, defiance in his eyes. "No! I won't apologize. I did nothing wrong!"
"Jerold, listen to me!"
"No, I won't apologize!"
With that, Jerold shook off his hand and ran towards the school gate.
Leo looked at Seb and said in a low voice, "Mr. Smith, I apologize. I'll bring Jerold to apologize in person another day."
He turned and quickly chased after Jerold. Seb watched his retreating figure coldly, his face expressionless.
Sharon looked at him. "Let's go home."
"Alright."
Seb crouched down to look Demetrius in the eye. "Demetrius, we'll have Jerold apologize to you another day, okay?"
Demetrius nodded. "Okay."
The three of them got into the car parked by the road and quickly left.
Back home, Demetrius handed a mysterious gift from his teacher to Sharon. "Mom, this is the prize Dad and I won today. It's for you."
Seeing the golden rose brooch in his hand, Sharon's eyes flashed with surprise, and she smiled. She had noticed Seb and Demetrius acting mysteriously during the award ceremony, as if they were hiding something from her. Before she could ask, Jerold had started crying, and she had forgotten to inquire.
She took the brooch from him and smiled. "Thank you, sweetheart. I love it. I'll give you a kiss as a thank you! Thank you for winning such a beautiful brooch for Mommy."
She kissed Demetrius on the cheek.
Seb couldn't help but speak up, "I want one too."
Sharon gave him a sidelong glance. "You're a grown man, and you're competing with Demetrius for attention!"
"I helped win that brooch too." Seb leaned his face towards Sharon.
Sharon pushed him away. "Alright, it's time to get ready for dinner. I'll kiss you after we eat."
After dinner, as Sharon was about to go upstairs to rest, Seb followed her.
In the bedroom, as Sharon opened the closet to get her pajamas, Seb's voice sounded behind her.
"Sharon, did you forget something?"
Sharon turned to look at him, seeing him tilt his left cheek towards her. She couldn't help but laugh and stood on tiptoe to kiss him.
Just as her lips were about to touch his cheek, Seb suddenly turned his head. Their lips met, and Sharon instinctively tried to pull back, but he held her waist and deepened the kiss.
When the kiss ended, Sharon was a bit dizzy, and her cheeks were flushed.
