Chapter 402 Would you ever do something to betray me?

Sharon had just stepped out of the elevator when she spotted Seb still standing right where she left him.

Seb's eyes, which had been filled with disappointment, suddenly lit up when he saw her. "Sharon."

Sharon pressed her lips together and walked up to him. "I'm sorry about earlier. I wasn't blaming you; I was just too shocked and didn't know how to face my dad."

Seeing the guilt in her eyes, Seb gently patted her head and said softly, "I know. I was just worried you'd be upset."

Considering he had been in contact with Robert behind her back, he thought it understandable if she was angry.

"Okay, I want to go see him," Sharon said.

"Alright, I'll take you there," Seb replied.

Even though Sharon had mentally prepared herself, she couldn't help but tear up when she saw the frail Robert up close.

Seb gently patted her back and whispered, "Don't worry too much. The doctor said Mr. Wright's condition is serious, but it's not hopeless. As long as he stays in good spirits and gets proper care, he can be discharged after some time."

Sharon nodded and wiped the tears from her eyes with the back of her hand. "Seb, thank you!"

If it weren't for him, she might still be holding onto her grudge and refusing to see Robert.

"By the way, my dad and Karen..." Sharon asked.

"Mr. Wright and Karen have divorced. With Leo's help, Karen married a wealthy businessman," Seb explained.

Sharon lowered her eyes, not feeling too surprised. After all, Robert's illness required constant care, and since he and Karen had no children, it was understandable that Karen would want to leave over time.

After sitting in the ward for a while, Sharon was about to leave when Robert woke up.

Robert slowly opened his eyes and was stunned to see Sharon sitting by his bedside, his eyes filled with confusion and disbelief.

Was he dreaming? Sharon had actually come to see him.

Robert had dreamt of Sharon visiting him before, but it was always the Sharon from five years ago. He had never dreamt of her looking like this.

Tears welled up in his eyes, and his withered hand trembled as he reached out to Sharon. "Sharon."

Sharon's heart ached, and she grasped his hand. "Dad, I'm sorry. I should have come earlier."

Robert's eyes widened in disbelief, and tears fell from the corners of his eyes. "Sharon, is it really you? You came to see me?"

He had thought it was just another dream, but it turned out to be real.

Robert choked up, staring at Sharon with wide eyes, afraid it was all a dream. But even if it was a dream, it was a good one. He had longed to see her again, even if only in his dreams.

"Yes, Dad, I'll come see you every day from now on," Sharon promised.

"Really?" Robert's grip on her hand tightened, his face lighting up with excitement.

"Really, I won't be mad at you anymore," Sharon added.

Seeing the joy and tears on both Robert's and Sharon's faces, Seb quietly slipped out of the ward to give them some privacy.

After Seb left, Robert wiped the tears from his eyes and tried to calm down. "Sharon, you've been out there alone all these years. It must have been tough, right?"

Sharon shook her head. "Not at all."

Seeing how much more composed she was compared to five years ago, Robert sighed inwardly, 'How could it not have been tough?'

Sharon was probably saying that to avoid making him feel bad.

He didn't press further and nodded. "It's good that you're back."

He then asked Sharon about her current job and other things, and Sharon answered one by one.

Although Sharon said it wasn't tough, Robert could tell from her descriptions that she hadn't had it easy these past few years.

"Sharon, I'm sorry. If it weren't for the company's bankruptcy back then, you wouldn't have had to suffer so much," Robert said.

Sharon shook her head. "Dad, it's all in the past, and I'm doing fine now."

They chatted for a while longer until a nurse came in to remind Robert to take his medication and get his IV.

Sharon stood up. "Dad, you rest well. I'll come see you tomorrow."

Hearing this, Robert showed somen reluctance in his eyes. After five years of not seeing her, he hadn't had enough time to look at her before they had to part again.

Noticing his disappointment, Sharon smiled and said, "I'll come see you every day from now on."

Robert was momentarily stunned, then quickly nodded. "Okay, take care on your way back."

"Alright." Sharon walked out of the ward and saw Seb sitting on a chair in the hallway.

Seb, with his tall frame, looked a bit uncomfortable sitting on the chair, yet his long legs were particularly eye-catching.

Noticing Sharon's gaze, Seb looked up, and his previously expressionless face broke into a smile. He put away his phone and walked towards her. "Finished talking with Mr. Wright?"

"Yes, but I haven't told him about Demetrius yet."

If Robert knew she and Seb already had a child, he might get so excited that he'd pass out again.

It's better to wait until Robert's health improves before telling him.

"Alright, and we should tell him together since it's my fault too," Seb agreed.

Thinking about the past, both of them fell silent. Sharon pressed her lips together. "Let's head back. I'll come see him again tomorrow."

"Okay, I'll come with you tomorrow," Seb nodded.

Before they knew it, Monday rolled around.

As soon as Sharon arrived at the office, Jake mysteriously pulled her aside. "Sharon, when are you going to ask about Ariana?"

"Why are you so concerned about Ariana? Have you finished your work?" Sharon asked.

Jake awkwardly scratched his nose. "I'm just worried about Ariana. She's been my classmate for years, and I don't think Kirk is a good guy. He must have some ulterior motive for getting close to her!"

Sharon glanced at him. "I have a handle on this. You should get back to work."

"Just let me know if you find out anything."

"Got it." After sending Jake away, Sharon pondered how to approach Ariana about the matter.

After all, this was Ariana's personal business, and if Sharon interfered too much, it might make Ariana resistant.

Sharon spent the whole day thinking about how to bring it up.

She had planned to invite Ariana to dinner after work and subtly inquire about it during the meal, but as soon as it was time to leave, Ariana hurriedly packed up her things.

"Sharon, I have something to do today, so I'm leaving first."

Sharon frowned, but before she could say anything, Ariana had already turned and left.

Watching Ariana's hurried figure, Sharon felt a bit heavy-hearted. If Ariana really liked Kirk, there was nothing she could do to stop it. After all, matters of the heart were beyond control.

On the way back, Seb noticed Sharon was in a bad mood and put down his documents to look at her. "What's wrong? Who upset you?"

"No one."

"Then why do you look so worried?"

"I don't look worried."

As soon as she finished speaking, Seb mimicked her earlier expression, furrowing his brows and sighing, his thick eyebrows almost touching. "You looked just like this."

Sharon couldn't help but laugh. "You're exaggerating."

Seeing her smile, Seb smiled slightly. "You were more exaggerated than me."

With his playful antics, Sharon's previously gloomy mood improved significantly. "By the way, what do you think of Kirk?"

Seb thought for a few seconds but couldn't recall anyone by that name. "Kirk?"

"An employee from Silvercrest Group, assigned to work on the current project with me. He's the team leader," Sharon explained.

Seb still had no impression and raised an eyebrow. "What's up with him?"

"Nothing, forget it if you don't know him," Sharon said.

"You're asking me about some guy out of the blue. Aren't you afraid I'll get jealous?"

Sharon rolled her eyes at him. "I was just asking casually, and you're jealous over that?"

"Well, it's because you're so attractive to the opposite sex that I feel insecure," Seb continued.

"Who's the one attracting the opposite sex here? Every time you walk into the company, plenty of girls are secretly looking at you. If I got jealous like you, I'd be angry all the time."

Seb's eyes darkened a bit, and he looked somewhat aggrieved. "But I've never seen you get jealous. Paul told me that if a woman doesn't care about a man, she'll be quiet and won't mind who he's with."

"I trust you. Would you ever do something to betray me?" Sharon said.

"Of course not!"

"Then that's settled. Besides, your jealousy shows you don't trust me. It's clearly your fault, and you're blaming me?"

Seb was momentarily stunned and couldn't find a rebuttal.

Seeing him at a loss for words, Sharon smiled triumphantly. "Mr. Smith, you should reflect on this."

Looking at her mischievous eyes and radiant smile, Seb felt his heart stir, and he pulled her into his arms. "Alright, I'll reflect."

Sharon had a bad feeling and tried to push him away, but as soon as her hand touched his suit, his lips were on hers.

The driver, Aubrey, quickly raised the partition.

Sharon initially struggled, but then her hands slowly wrapped around Seb's neck, and she ended up sitting on his lap.

Seb's hand slowly moved down Sharon's back, the air becoming increasingly intimate.

Suddenly, Aubrey slammed on the brakes, and Sharon was thrown towards the partition.

Just as her head was about to hit the partition, a hand firmly supported the back of her head.

Thanks to Seb's hand, Sharon didn't feel any pain.

"Are you okay?" They both spoke at the same time, and Sharon quickly sat up, turning to check on his hand.

Seb retracted his arm and said calmly, "I'm fine."

He frowned and addressed Aubrey in the front, "What happened?"

Aubrey quickly raised the partition. "Mr. Smith, there was a stray cat on the road."

Seb's eyes darkened. "Be more careful next time."

"Yes, sir."

Sharon had already returned to her seat, and the car started moving again.

"Let me see your hand," Sharon asked.

"It's really fine."

Sharon sternly said, "Show me your hand."

Seb just obediently extended his right hand.

As soon as she rolled up his sleeve, Sharon saw a large bruise on his arm, and her eyes filled with concern. "Does it hurt? Let's find a pharmacy and get some ointment for it."

"It does hurt a bit, but if you kiss me, it might feel better."

Sharon glared at him. "Can you be serious?"
