Chapter 111 Unfit to Be a Husband

The servant didn't give Sharon a chance to fight back and just tossed her into the basement.

The villa's basement was usually for storing stuff no one used. It was cold and dark. Once locking Sharon, the servant left right away.

Sharon pulled out her phone but found it had no signal, so calling for help was out.

When her phone's light went out, the basement went pitch black again.

Around ten at night, the basement door opened, and Alex walked in looking pissed.

"Do you know what you did wrong?" he asked.

Sharon stared at him coldly.

"Alex, I've already explained. You just won't listen. I didn't do anything wrong."

Alex's face twisted with anger, and his look was icy.

"If you won't admit it, you'll stay here tonight and think about it!"

With that, Alex left, shutting the door and cutting off the light.

The next day, Seb came looking for Sharon.

"Where's Sharon?"

Alex glared at him. "Uncle Seb, even if you didn't come to me, I was going to find you. You tricked my wife into staying at your place while I was away. Isn't that low?"

Seb frowned and said sternly, "I'm asking you, where is Sharon?"

"Why do you care? She's my wife. It's not your place to worry."

"Don't forget, she's also an employee of Silvercrest Group now."

Alex sneered, "Not after tomorrow. I'm resigning for her."

Seb's eyes turned cold. "Let her tell me that herself."

"That's not happening. I just got back from a trip. We've been inseparable these days. She's exhausted and still sleeping. As her husband, I can resign for her."

Seb's eyes flashed coldly. "Alex, if I don't see her in ten minutes, every Smith Group shareholder will know what you did on your trip."

"Uncle Seb, I don't know what you are talking about."

Seb didn't reply. Paul, standing behind him, pulled out his phone and played a recording.

Alex's face went pale with shock and anger.

"You set me up!"

Seb stayed expressionless.

"If you weren't so greedy, I wouldn't have had the chance, would I?"

Alex's fists clenched in rage.

The recording was about Alex cutting costs on his trip, using cheap materials, and taking kickbacks.

If this got out, Alex wouldn't just lose his shot at being a general manager; he could end up in jail.

When Alex thought of this, his eyes were filled with malice.

Seb was going all out for Sharon; it was nuts!

Seeing Alex's silence, Seb calmly said, "I'll give you ten seconds. If you don't tell me where Sharon is, this recording goes to every Smith Group shareholder, including your grandfather."

Alex was furious but had no choice.

Before he could control the Smith Group, going against Seb was a dead end.

Alex took a deep breath and asked the servant over.

"Let Sharon out."

The servant helped Sharon out. After two days and nights in the basement without food or water, she was pale and thin.

Seeing Sharon like this, Seb was furious.

"You kept her in the basement these past two days?"

Alex's face was stern, "Uncle Seb, isn't it obvious? Do you really need to ask?"

Seb sneered, "You're really unfit to be a husband."

"If I'm unfit, does that mean you are? Coveting your own niece-in-law, wouldn't that disgrace the Smith family?" Alex sneered, itching to spread the news.

Then Sandra and Tyler would be so disappointed in Seb that they'd never hand over the Smith Group to him.

"Alex, if anything happens to her, I won't let you off!"

With that cold remark, Seb walked to Sharon and tried to hold her, but she instinctively stepped back.

Seb's eyes darkened, but he ignored her resistance and lifted her in front of Alex.

"Uncle Seb, put me down. I can walk."

Seb looked down at her, "Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Seeing Sharon's determination, Seb was silent for a few seconds but eventually put her down.

"Thank you, Uncle Seb."

"I'll help you."

"Okay."

With Seb's support, Sharon slowly walked out of the villa.

Alex stared at their backs, seething with anger.

But he knew he couldn't stop them.

Once they left the villa, Sharon looked at Seb, her eyes grateful.

"Uncle Seb, thank you for getting me out."

If Seb hadn't come, who knows how long Alex would have kept her locked up.

Seeing Sharon's pale face, Seb frowned.

"I'll take you to the hospital."

"No need. Just take me to my apartment."

At Sharon's insistence, Seb took her back to her apartment.

"Are you sure you don't need a check-up?"

Sharon shook her head, "Yes, I'm just a bit dehydrated. Uncle Seb, I've already taken up a lot of your time. You should get back to work."

Seb wanted to escort her upstairs, but seeing she was still in decent spirits, he nodded. "Alright, if anything comes up, call me anytime."

After a pause, he added, "Think carefully about the divorce I mentioned earlier. Staying with Alex will only put you in danger."

Sharon's chapped lips moved slightly, and she finally nodded. "Okay, Uncle Seb, I'll think about it."

After Seb left, Sharon slowly walked to her apartment, replaying his words in her mind.

The idea of divorce had been on her mind for a long time. She had initially planned to use Alex to get close to David, hoping to uncover clues about the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident, but it wasn't working.

Maybe it was time to cut ties with Alex once and for all.

Back at the villa, after Seb and Sharon left, Alex went on a rampage, smashing everything in the living room.

The servant hid in a corner, terrified. When Alex finally stopped and stood motionless, she approached him.

"Mr. Alex, your hand is injured. I'll call a doctor!"

Alex looked down at his bleeding hand, his eyes emotionless.

"No need, I won't die."

The servant wanted to say more, but under Alex's cold gaze, she fell silent.

Just then, Alex's phone rang.

Seeing it was Joseph, his face darkened as he answered.

"Mr. Alex, it's confirmed. On Madam's birthday, Ms. Lee jumped from the top of Seaview Hotel, landing right in front of Madam. Later, Mr. Seb saw them and took Ms. Lee to the hospital. They didn't leave until late at night."

"The hospital where Ms. Lee was admitted is far from Scenic Imperial Garden but close to Mr. Seb's place. It was probably too late, so Mr. Seb didn't take Madam back."
