Chapter 334 Dad is My Hero!
As they tumbled down to a gentler slope, Sharon grabbed onto a nearby bush, ignoring the thorns digging into her hands. Finally, they came to a stop.
Sharon let out a sigh of relief and turned to look at Seb. His eyes were shut tight, his face pale, and cold sweat was forming on his forehead. Her heart sank.
"Seb, wake up, how are you?" Sharon called out, her voice full of worry.
She cried out repeatedly, but Seb remained unresponsive. His grip around her waist only tightened.
Panic flashed in Sharon's eyes, and she quickly reached out to feel around his body.
Luckily, his phone was still on him. Sharon quickly took it out and dialed Paul's number.
When Seb woke up, three days had already passed.
His body was racked with pain, and even breathing felt excruciating.
Paul, who was beside him, saw that he was awake and quickly leaned in. "Mr. Smith, you're awake! I'll go get the doctor right away!" His face lit up with excitement as he turned and quickly walked towards the door of the ward.
Soon, the doctor arrived. After a quick check-up, the doctor visibly relaxed. "Mr. Smith has passed the critical period. He just needs to rest well, and in about a month, he should fully recover."
Paul nodded. "Alright, I understand. Thanks, doc."
After the doctor left, Paul saw that Seb wanted to sit up, so he helped raise the bed.
"Mr. Smith, how are you feeling now? Do you want some water or something?" Paul asked.
Seb nodded with difficulty. "Yeah, I want some water."
Paul quickly brought a cup of warm water, helped Seb drink half, and took it away when Seb had enough.
After drinking the water, Seb finally felt his throat wasn't as dry.
"Where's Sharon?" Seb asked.
"Mr. Smith, Ms. Roach is fine. Thanks to your protection, she only suffered minor injuries and will be discharged in a couple of days. We also found Demetrius. He was scared but not hurt. The kidnappers, including Alex, have been detained. You can decide how to handle it once you're feeling better," Paul explained.
"Alright, I understand," Seb said, his voice weak.
Seb didn't say anything more; he just lowered his eyes, hiding his deep thoughts.
The room fell silent. Paul felt that Seb seemed a bit off but couldn't pinpoint what was wrong.
"Mr. Smith, I'll go inform Ms. Roach that you're awake," Paul said.
As soon as he finished speaking, Seb's cold voice rang out, "No need. I'm very tired right now and don't want to see anyone. You can leave."
Seeing Seb's pale face, Paul indeed felt he needed to rest well. He nodded. "Alright, I'll be right outside. Call me if you need anything."
Paul exited the hospital room, softly closed the door, and then called Rufus.
"Mr. Smith is awake. Inform the shareholders of Silvercrest Group," Paul instructed.
During Seb's coma, many Silvercrest Group shareholders were eager to take control. If it weren't for Seb's usual ruthless measures that made them fear his retaliation, they would have acted as soon as they heard about his accident.
After hanging up, a cold glint flashed in Paul's eyes.
Once Seb recovered, he would surely start cleaning out the disloyal shareholders of Silvercrest Group.
Not long after, Sharon arrived.
She was wearing a loose hospital gown, and the wounds on her face had started to scab. She looked much better than when Paul first found her and Seb.
"Ms. Roach," Paul greeted her.
Sharon nodded. "How is Mr. Smith?"
"He is awake," Paul replied.
"What?" Sharon's eyes widened in surprise, and she frowned. "Why didn't you tell me? I'll go in and see him..."
Before she could finish, Paul stopped her.
"Ms. Roach, Mr. Smith just woke up not long ago. He said he doesn't want to see anyone and needs to rest. Maybe you can come back tonight or tomorrow?" Paul suggested.
Sharon paused, looking at Paul. "How is he now?" she asked.
"The doctor checked him and said Mr. Smith has passed the critical period. He just needs to rest well," Paul explained.
Hearing this, Sharon let out a sigh of relief. "Alright, I'll bring Demetrius to see him tonight," she said.
When Sharon reached the door, Seb heard her voice.
His gaze unconsciously turned towards the door. Her slender figure was outlined on the frosted glass, and Seb's eyes grew complicated.
When they tumbled down the mountain together, his head hit a rock, and he remembered everything.
Five years ago, he wronged her; five years later, he wronged her even more.
Seb managed a bitter smile, his eyes full of sorrow.
Reflecting upon the things he had done and the words he had spoken to her after their reunion five years later, his heart involuntarily clenched, the pain so intense it nearly took his breath away.
How could he have been so cruel to Sharon while he had amnesia?
She even gave birth to their child alone.
He couldn't imagine how hard her life had been these past few years, nor did he dare to think about it. Just the thought of it made his heart feel like it had a hole, with cold wind constantly blowing through, chilling him to the bone.
The footsteps outside gradually faded away until they disappeared.
Seb closed his eyes. Now that she had moved on, perhaps it was better for both of them if he never recalled their past.
In the evening, when Sharon brought Demetrius to see Seb, Paul was feeding Seb.
Seb's hand was broken and in a cast, so he needed someone to take care of him.
Sharon walked to the bedside. "Mr. Harris, let me do it," she offered.
A hint of hesitation flashed in Paul's eyes. Just as he was about to hand the meal box to Sharon, he noticed Seb's cold gaze.
He quickly retracted his hand, chuckling awkwardly. "Ms. Roach, no need. Mr. Smith is almost done eating."
Sharon didn't insist. After all, Seb would be in the hospital for a long time, and she would have plenty of opportunities to take care of him.
Demetrius, standing nearby, saw Seb wrapped up like a mummy and couldn't help but tear up. "Daddy, does it hurt a lot?" he asked, his voice trembling.
During Seb's days of unconsciousness, Sharon kept Demetrius from visiting, fearing that the sight of his father in such a state would traumatize him.
Now that Seb was awake, she didn't hide it from Demetrius anymore.
Seb looked at Demetrius, his gaze deepening.
This was the first time he saw Demetrius after regaining his memory. Demetrius, who looked so much like him, was his and Sharon's child.
"Demetrius, it doesn't hurt," Seb said softly.
"Daddy must be lying. Even a small fall hurts me. How could it not hurt when you rolled down a mountain? But you protected Mommy. You're my hero!" Demetrius exclaimed, his eyes shining with admiration.
Facing Demetrius's admiring gaze, Seb felt a sensation he had never experienced before, and his expression softened.
"I'm honored to be your hero," Seb said, smiling.
"Then you have to get better soon, Daddy. You promised to take me to the amusement park," Demetrius reminded him.
Seb couldn't help but smile. "Alright, in order to take you to the amusement park, I'll get better as soon as possible."
