Chapter 578 So What If You Suspect Me?
As Carolyn spoke, she was already heading towards the attic.
Andrew stood up and followed her. "Carolyn, I'll come with you."
Carolyn paused for a moment, then nodded. "Alright."
She signaled to a servant. "You go ahead and take care of her."
The servant quickly nodded and hurried away, understanding Carolyn's unspoken message.
Carolyn changed direction, leading Andrew towards Sharon's bedroom.
On the way, Carolyn deliberately slowed her pace, casually chatting with Andrew.
Andrew narrowed his eyes, a thoughtful look crossing his face.
It seemed Carolyn didn't care as much about her newly found daughter as she had claimed at the party. Otherwise, she wouldn't be chatting with him so leisurely after hearing Sharon had a fever, nor would she be walking so slowly.
Moreover, Carolyn had sent the servant ahead to take care of Sharon. It was likely more about hiding something she didn't want Andrew to know.
When they reached Sharon's bedroom door, they ran into the family doctor, who was rushing over.
After greeting Carolyn, the doctor entered the room with his medical bag.
Sharon lay on the bed, her lips dry and pale, her cheeks flushed unnaturally, and cold sweat beading on her forehead.
The doctor took Sharon's temperature and performed a series of checks. He looked at Carolyn and said, "Mrs. Stoll, Ms. Sharon Roach has a fever caused by a common cold. I'll prescribe some antipyretics. Once the fever breaks, she should be fine."
Carolyn nodded. "Good, as long as it's nothing serious."
After the doctor prescribed the medication, Carolyn instructed a servant to give Sharon the medicine. She then turned to Andrew. "Sharon probably won't be able to attend classes for the next couple of days. You can come back the day after tomorrow."
Andrew nodded. "Alright, her health is the priority. I'll head out now."
"Okay, I'll have the butler see you out. I'm sorry for the inconvenience."
"Carolyn, it's no trouble at all."
The butler escorted Andrew out and they encountered Daisy in the hall.
Seeing Andrew, Daisy's face lit up with surprise. "Andrew, what brings you here?"
She looked innocent, seemingly unaware that Andrew was now Sharon's tutor.
Andrew smiled, "Daisy, I'm Sharon's tutor now. I come by every morning to teach her."
"Oh, I see. I heard Sharon has a fever today, so I guess there won't be any classes?"
Andrew nodded. "Yes, she'll be resting for the next couple of days. I'll come back later."
"So, you're heading back now?"
"Yes."
"I was about to go shopping, but my car broke down. Could you give me a ride to the mall?"
The butler, who had been silent since Daisy appeared, frowned slightly.
He felt Daisy was being a bit too enthusiastic towards Andrew.
Andrew looked surprised but then smiled. "It would be my pleasure."
"Thank you."
Daisy turned to the butler. "You don't need to see Andrew out. I'll take him. Let Mom know I won't be back for lunch."
The butler bowed his head. "Understood."
Daisy walked out with Andrew, chatting animatedly, her face and eyes full of smiles, more lively than usual.
Watching them leave, the butler frowned and turned towards Sharon's bedroom.
As he reached the door, he heard Carolyn scolding the servants inside.
"I only told you to keep her in the attic. Who told you to let her get into this state?"
The servants were silent, heads bowed, not daring to breathe too loudly, afraid of drawing Carolyn's attention.
The butler knocked and entered. "Mrs. Stoll, Ms. Sharon Roach just arrived in Stellaria and might not be used to the climate here. Her body is still weak. Spending the night in the attic could easily cause her to catch a cold."
Carolyn took a deep breath, suppressing her anger, and turned to the butler. "Has Andrew left?"
"Yes, I saw Mr. Sanchez out. We ran into Ms. Daisy Stoll, who said her car broke down and asked Mr. Sanchez to take her to the mall. They left together."
Carolyn's face turned grim at this.
She didn't know Andrew well, but she knew her daughter. Daisy usually avoided interacting with men, and with so many cars in the garage, it was unlikely they were all broken.
"Understood. Have her come see me when she gets back."
With that, Carolyn cast a cold glance at the still-silent servants and left Sharon's bedroom.
As for Sharon, still feverish in bed, she was of no use to Carolyn at the moment and thus not worth her attention.
The butler turned to the servants. "Take good care of Ms. Sharon Roach. Make sure she's recovered by the day after tomorrow, or you won't need to come back to work."
With that, the butler hurried after Carolyn.
"Mrs. Stoll, should we have someone keep an eye on Ms. Daisy Stoll?"
After all, Daisy seemed quite interested in Andrew.
"No need. Just have her come see me when she gets back. Make sure Daisy doesn't get another chance to meet Andrew."
"Understood, Mrs. Stoll."
It was evening when Daisy returned to the estate.
As soon as she stepped into the hall, she saw Carolyn sitting on the couch, her expression unreadable, her eyes deep and inscrutable.
When Carolyn's gaze fell on her, Daisy didn't dare meet her eyes and looked away.
"Mom, shouldn't you be working right now?"
"I thought you didn't care about what I was doing anymore."
Daisy's eyes flickered with guilt. She glanced at Carolyn's expression while speaking. "How could that be? I always care about you."
"Do you care about me, or do you care about Andrew?"
Daisy's expression froze. She looked at Carolyn, trying to cover up her feelings. "Mom, what are you talking about? I don't understand. My car broke down today, so I asked Andrew to take me to the mall. We're friends, so what's the harm in that?"
"Swear to me you have no other feelings for him."
Carolyn's stern gaze made Daisy uneasy.
"Mom, what are you saying? How could I have other feelings for him?"
Carolyn nodded. "Alright, then from tomorrow on, you're not to have any contact with him."
Daisy immediately protested. "Why?"
"Because he's the match I've chosen for Sharon."
Besides, Andrew's family status wasn't suitable for Daisy.
Her daughter needed to marry someone whose family was at least on par with the Stoll family.
Daisy's face twisted with anger. "You chose him as Sharon's match?"
She had thought Andrew was just Sharon's tutor, not Carolyn's chosen match for her.
"Yes."
"No! I don't agree!"
Carolyn's expression remained indifferent. "What right do you have to disagree? What does this have to do with you?"
The hall fell silent.
Carolyn's cold gaze fixed on Daisy, waiting for her response.
Daisy lowered her head, her hands clenched at her sides. After a long moment, she looked up at Carolyn.
"Mom, I like Andrew. I won't let him be with another woman."
Saying her feelings out loud made Daisy feel relieved, and she looked at Carolyn with determination.
"I want to be with Andrew. If it's just a match, why can't it be me ?"
"Daisy, it seems I've spoiled you too much. From tomorrow on, I'll freeze your credit cards. Come to me when you've thought things through."
With that, Carolyn stood up and left.
Daisy's expression changed. She quickly moved to block Carolyn.
"Mom, why are you freezing my credit cards? Is it wrong for me to want to be with Andrew?"
Carolyn looked at her coldly. "What about him is worthy of you? He's from a declining family. Even if you weren't my daughter, no respectable family would consider him for a match."
"Then why are you matching him with Sharon? Isn't she your daughter too?"
"You're different."
"What's different? She already has a husband and child back home. She doesn't deserve to marry Andrew!"
"Even without her, I wouldn't let you be with Andrew. Give up on that idea."
Carolyn pushed past her and headed to the study.
Daisy watched Carolyn's retreating figure, her eyes red, but she didn't dare follow.
Back in her room, a servant knocked and entered.
"Ms. Daisy Stoll, Ms. Sharon Roach had a fever all day and only recently recovered. Mrs. Stoll didn't suspect you."
Daisy gave her a cold look. "So what if she did? I don't believe she'd punish me for Sharon."
The servant was taken aback, then quickly smiled obsequiously. "Of course, Ms. Sharon can't compare to you in Mrs. Stoll's eyes."
"Alright, you can go."
Daisy threw her bag on the bed in frustration, her mind filled with thoughts of Andrew's handsome face.
She had fallen for him at first sight.
She had never considered marrying anyone else and wouldn't let anyone else marry him.
Especially not Sharon, whom she despised.
But she couldn't openly defy Carolyn.
Everything she had was given by Carolyn. Jeremy didn't like her and Gareth. If Carolyn abandoned her too, she'd have nothing.
Daisy lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling, unsure of what to do.
Meanwhile, in Sharon's bedroom.
She sat up in bed, looking out the window, her eyes filled with exhaustion. She wondered how long it would be before she could return home to Seb and Demetrius.
Maybe she shouldn't argue with Carolyn anymore.
