Chapter 607 You Suspect That I Sent Saul to Approach Sophie?

Right now, for Randy, nothing else mattered except Sophie.

If Delbert kept pushing him to meet Electra, they might not even stay friends.

Valentin nodded, "Alright, I'll mention it. If he doesn't listen, I won't push it."

He and Geraldo could see things clearly and didn't plan to get too involved in the emotional mess of the four of them, lest they end up displeasing both sides.

The news of Randy stepping down as CEO of the Smith Group quickly spread throughout Metropolis.

When Electra heard about it, she immediately called Delbert.

"Delbert, I saw the news that Randy stepped down as CEO of the Smith Group. What's going on?"

Electra's voice was full of worry, and her expression was anxious.

There were a few seconds of silence on the other end before Delbert spoke softly, "I'm not sure yet. I'll ask around later."

"Delbert, could it be because of the online exposé you arranged? Maybe you should have it taken down. I want to see him, but I don't want him to leave the Smith Group because of me."

As Electra finished speaking, there was another silence on the other end.

After waiting for a while without a response, Electra frowned, "Delbert? What's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything? If you're busy, I can call you later."

"No, I'll have the exposé taken down right away. You get some rest."

With that, Delbert hung up the phone.

Electra was so preoccupied with Randy stepping down from the Smith Group that she didn't notice anything unusual about Delbert.

Even if she had noticed, she wouldn't have cared.

After all, in Electra's eyes, Delbert had liked her since they were kids and would never leave her.

In the Loomis Group CEO's office.

Delbert put down his phone and called his secretary into the office.

"Contact the blogger who posted the exposé about Randy being ungrateful. Have him delete all the posts related to Randy, and remove all the tags. Get it done by tomorrow morning."

The secretary looked at Delbert with disbelief.

Half an hour ago, Delbert had instructed him to continue buying internet trolls to increase the buzz. How had he changed his mind so quickly?

Seeing the secretary not moving, Delbert frowned, "Didn't you understand what I said?"

"I understood, Mr. Loomis. I'll get right on it."

After the secretary left, Delbert rubbed his temples, feeling a bit irritated.

He had almost fallen out with Randy for Electra, and now Electra wanted him to delete the exposé just because Randy stepped down as CEO of the Smith Group.

It seemed he really had no place in Electra's heart.

Electra was probably only nice to him to use him to get closer to Randy.

In the past, just seeing Electra's smile made Delbert feel happy. He could endure the heartache and help Electra pursue Randy, agreeing to some unreasonable requests.

But just now, Delbert suddenly felt it was pointless.

No matter how much effort he put in, Electra would never look back at him.

Maybe he should give up on Electra and start a new life.

As Delbert was pondering, his phone rang again.

His heart skipped a beat as he picked up the phone, feeling a pang of disappointment when he saw it was Valentin.

He had thought Electra had noticed his mood and called him again, but it turned out he was just being wishful.

Suppressing his disappointment, Delbert answered the call.

"What's up?"

"Do you have time tonight? Want to grab dinner together?"

Delbert checked his schedule; he had no engagements tonight.

He raised an eyebrow, "Who else is coming?"

"Just the two of us."

"Alright, pick a place and send me the details."

In the evening, Delbert's car pulled up in front of a high-end restaurant in Metropolis.

As he got out of the car, he heard Valentin's voice nearby, "Delbert, didn't expect us to arrive at the same time."

Delbert looked at him and waited for him to approach, then they walked in together.

After sitting down in a private room, Delbert looked at Valentin, "You must have something to say if you invited me alone tonight, right?"

Valentin smiled, "You really can't be fooled. Let's order first."

After they ordered and the waiter left, Valentin looked at Delbert.

"What are you planning to do about Electra and Randy? Are you really going to try to get them together?"

Delbert's fingers tightened around his water glass, his voice low, "Yes, why?"

Valentin frowned, "Don't you like Electra? If she really gets together with Randy, won't you regret it?"

Delbert gave a bitter smile, "What good is liking her? She doesn't like me."

"If you were as clear-headed about Electra's feelings for Randy, it would be better. Randy doesn't like her, and forcing him to see her will only make all four of you unhappy."

"Even if Randy broke up with Sophie, he wouldn't get together with Electra."

Delbert looked up at him, "You invited me here tonight to persuade me to stop helping Electra?"

"I'm not asking you to stop helping her, but to let go."

Delbert took a sip of water, his expression cold, "Did Randy send you?"

"No, you're all my friends. I don't want things to get so bad that we can't even hang out together."

"If Randy were willing to visit Electra in the hospital, we wouldn't be in this mess."

Valentin sighed, "You're forcing him to do something he doesn't want to do. Of course, he won't listen to you. Delbert, I think it's best if you stay out of Electra and Randy's affairs."

Delbert remained silent, it was unclear if he was listening.

Valentin didn't push the topic further and started talking about work.

After dinner, they got up to leave.

As they passed through the lobby, Delbert's gaze suddenly froze.

"What's wrong?"

Valentin followed his line of sight and was surprised to see Sophie and Saul sitting by the window.

At that moment, Sophie and Saul were chatting and eating dinner.

Sophie kept putting food on Saul's plate, which was already piled high.

"Sophie, I really can't eat anymore. Stop giving me food."

Sophie smiled and put down her fork, "Alright, I won't give you any more. Take your time."

"Okay."

Saul looked at Sophie cautiously, "Why did you suddenly ask me out for dinner today?"

"What's wrong? You don't want me to ask you out?"

"No, it's just that I'm a bit surprised."

Usually, Saul would send Sophie lots of messages every day, but she barely responded. Today, he was too busy with classes to message her, and unexpectedly, she texted him saying she was at the Serenity University gate.

It usually took ten minutes to get from the dorm to the gate, but this time he made it in five.

Seeing Sophie, Saul felt a surge of joy.

He knew he was really falling for her.

"I was passing by your school after finishing some errands and remembered I had something to give you."

Saul looked puzzled, "What is it?"

"You'll find out later. Let's eat first."

"Okay."

Neither of them knew that Delbert was secretly taking photos of them.

Valentin frowned, "Delbert, it's not right to secretly take photos of Ms. Lee."

Delbert glanced at him, "What's wrong with it? She's meeting another man behind Randy's back. I'm just taking a photo."

"But Ms. Lee and Randy have already broken up. She can date whoever she wants, and the guy might be her brother or something."

"Brother? Have you ever heard of her having a brother?"

Valentin hadn't.

"Alright, I have something to do later. I'll see you next time."

Valentin wanted to persuade Delbert further, but he left quickly, disappearing from sight in a blink.

After leaving the restaurant, Delbert drove straight to the hospital.

In the hospital room, Electra was reading. Hearing the door open, she looked up instinctively.

Seeing Delbert, her face lit up with surprise, "Delbert, why are you here now? Finished with work?"

"Yes."

Delbert sat by the bed, his gaze heavy on Electra, "How's your health?"

"Recovering well. The doctor said I could be discharged next week. But I guess Randy won't come by before then."

In the past, Delbert would have comforted her and promised to find a way to get Randy to visit.

But tonight, Delbert remained unusually silent.

Sensing something was off, Electra looked at Delbert inquisitively, "Delbert, why aren't you saying anything?"

Delbert took out his phone and showed her the photo he had taken at the restaurant.

Seeing Sophie and Saul, Electra's eyes widened in surprise and disbelief.

"Saul and Sophie, how are they having dinner together?"

From the moment he took out his phone, Delbert had been watching Electra's face, looking for signs of lying but found none.

Delbert put down his phone, his tone ambiguous, "You know why they're having dinner together, don't you?"

Electra was stunned, then her eyes filled with hurt, "Delbert, what do you mean? Are you accusing me of sending Saul to get close to Sophie?"

"What else? Others might not know Saul's relationship with you, but I do. Don't tell me Saul meeting Sophie was a coincidence."

Delbert's accusatory tone seemed to deeply wound Electra.

Tears welled up in her eyes, "Delbert, do you think I'm a scheming woman now?"

"Shouldn't I? Saul is your half-brother! He must know about Sophie and Randy's relationship. Are you saying you didn't send him to get close to Sophie?"

"Saul was just a college student. Without deliberate effort, he couldn't have met Sophie."

"I don't know. If you don't believe me, I can call Saul right now!"
