Chapter 47 Holding His Hand Tightly
It looked like there might be some issues with BioGenX Pharmaceuticals' materials.
Sharon lowered her gaze, thought for a few seconds, and then spoke, "Okay, I'm in room 802. Ms. Bell, you can come directly."
Soon, Sunny arrived.
Sharon opened the door and stepped aside to let her in.
After sitting down, Sunny handed the bag to Sharon with a smile. "Ms. Wright, here's your scarf. Please check if there's any problem with it."
The moment Sharon took the bag, she knew it weighed more than just a scarf.
She picked up the scarf and saw several stacks of money underneath, roughly estimating about $200,000.
She put the scarf back and pushed the bag towards Sunny. "Ms. Bell, this scarf is too valuable. I can't accept it."
Sunny's smile didn't falter, and she spoke gently, "Ms. Wright, it's not valuable at all. We might have many opportunities to meet in the future."
Sharon pursed her lips and looked at her calmly. "What do you want me to do? Ms. Bell."
Sunny said, "Ms. Wright, you are an inspector, so you should understand. It's getting late; I'll leave now. Ms. Wright, have a good rest."
Seeing Sunny turn to leave, Sharon handed the bag on the table back to her. "Ms. Bell, you should take this scarf back. As for the inspection, as long as your company's materials aren't too poor, I'll pass them."
Sunny's smile stiffened, realizing Sharon wasn't just being polite but genuinely refusing. She reluctantly took the bag. "Ms. Wright, Our materials won't have any issues. I hope we can have the opportunity to cooperate with the Silvercrest Group."
After Sunny left, Sharon went to wash up and went to bed.
In the middle of the night, Sharon woke up with stomachache, remembering she hadn't much for dinner, likely triggering her gastritis.
When Alex first took over the Smith Group, he often worked late until eight or nine o'clock. Sharon got into the habit of waiting for him to eat together, which eventually led to her gastritis.
She had been taking good care of it over the years, so it hadn't flared up much, and she had almost forgotten about it.
She turned on the bedside lamp, picked up her phone, and ordered medicine on a delivery app. She also called the front desk to ask for some hot water.
By the time she finished, her face was pale with pain, and cold sweat was breaking out on her forehead.
When the knock on the door finally came, Sharon was curled up on the bed in pain, unable to get up.
Paul, after reporting to Seb, saw a staff member standing at Sharon's door with a cup of water. He walked over to inquire about the situation.
He learned that Sharon had asked the front desk for hot water a few minutes ago, but there had been no response when they knocked. Paul frowned. "Do you have a spare room key?"
"Yes, I'll go get it." While the staff went downstairs, Paul called Sharon several times, but there was no answer, and he grew increasingly worried.
After informing Seb, Seb's expression turned icy. "What happened?"
Paul said, "I don't know. Ms. Wright isn't answering her phone."
Soon, the staff returned with the spare key. As soon as they opened the door, they saw Sharon curled up on the bed with her eyes closed, her face covered in cold sweat, looking like she had fainted.
Seb quickly walked in and coldly instructed Paul, "Find a doctor."
As he reached the bedside, Sharon suddenly grabbed his hand.
Seb was momentarily stunned, then tried to pull his hand away.
However, Sharon held on tightly, and he was afraid of pulling her off the bed, so he frowned and let her hold on.
"It hurts," Sharon muttered through her cold sweat, her delicate brows furrowing tightly, her face pale.
The doctor arrived almost simultaneously with the medicine for Sharon's gastritis. The doctor initially wanted her to take the medicine to see if it helped, but Sharon's teeth were clenched too tightly to swallow it.
Given her condition, they had to switch to another treatment method.
After giving Sharon an injection, the doctor looked at Seb and said, "When she wakes up, give her some light food."
"Okay." Seb nodded.
After a few more instructions, the doctor left with the staff.
Paul said, "Mr. Smith, why don't you go rest? I'll stay here with Ms. Wright."
Seb glanced at Sharon still tightly gripping his hand, his face darkening. Earlier, when the doctor gave her the injection, Seb had tried to pry her hand off but failed.
Seb said, "Do you think I can rest like this?"
Following Seb's gaze, Paul saw their clasped hands and quickly changed the subject. "I'll go get some food for Ms. Wright."
Seb nodded. "Alright."
After Paul left, the room fell silent, save for Sharon's occasional murmurs.
Seb looked down at her sweat-drenched face, her delicate features scrunched up in pain, evoking a sense of pity.
However, upon remembering that she was Alex's wife, Seb's gaze turned cold.
Overwhelmed by pain, Sharon was on the brink of unconsciousness. In her haze, she clung to something warm, gripping it tighter, as if it could soothe her searing stomach pain.
As dawn broke, she finally woke up.
Slowly opening her eyes, the first thing she saw was Seb's enlarged, handsome face.
Sharon was stunned for a few seconds before realizing it was real. She couldn't help but gasp and quickly moved back.
"So painful!" Sharon's head hit the headboard hard, causing her to wince in pain.
Her movement woke Seb up.
Seeing her clutching her head, Seb frowned. "Are you awake?"
Meeting his indifferent gaze, Sharon ignored the pain and quickly asked, "Mr. Smith, why are you in my room?"
Seb's expression darkened further. "Last night, you fainted from stomach pain. When I got to the bedside, you grabbed my hand and wouldn't let go. I had no choice but to wait here until you woke up."
Upon hearing this, Sharon's confusion gave way to embarrassment. Last night, in her near-unconscious state from the pain, she had indeed grabbed onto something.
She hadn't expected it to be Seb's hand!
Seeing Sharon's changing expression, Seb couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
Sharon said, "Mr. Smith, I'm sorry. I didn't do it on purpose. Last night, I must have mistaken you for my mom."
Seb was furious.
Seeing his grim expression, Sharon quickly explained, "I don't mean you look like my mom. It's just that your hand is very warm, like hers."
As soon as she finished, Sharon regretted it. Her explanation made things worse.
Sure enough, Seb's face turned completely dark.
He gave a cold laugh, stood up, and left Sharon's room.
Realizing he was angry, Sharon opened her mouth to explain but thought better of it, fearing she'd only make things worse.
After Seb left, the oppressive feeling he brought with him disappeared.
Sharon sighed in relief and turned to see the food and medicine placed beside her.
