Chapter 393 I might not be able to control myself
Ariana bit her lower lip, stayed quiet, and handed her phone over to Sharon.
On the screen was a photo of Seb's back, with a payment window in the background, clearly taken at a hospital.
Sharon's eyes widened, and her face went ghostly pale.
Last night, Seb had told her he was going to a social event, but he was actually at the hospital. The last time he said he was going to a social event, he ended up seeing Bernice.
What on earth was Seb hiding from her?
Seeing Sharon's pale face, Ariana regretted bringing it up.
"Sharon, maybe Mr. Smith had a good reason to be at the hospital. Don't stress too much," Ariana tried to comfort her.
Sharon bit her lower lip, nodded, and said, "I believe he wouldn't betray me. Thanks for telling me, Ariana."
Turning away, Sharon returned to her desk. She opened her computer but found herself staring blankly at the screen, unable to focus.
Why did Seb lie to her?
Watching Sharon's back, Ariana wanted to say something to comfort her but ultimately stayed silent.
After all, Ariana didn't know the whole story.
At noon, Sharon went to Seb's office to have lunch with him.
Seeing Sharon distracted, Seb frowned and put down his fork. "Sharon, is something bothering you?"
Sharon paused her eating, looked up at Seb.
The concern and worry in his eyes were unmistakable, and Sharon could feel his love for her.
But Sharon didn't understand why he had lied to her twice.
Was there something about seeing Bernice and going to the hospital that couldn't be made public?
Seeing Sharon not speaking and just staring at him, Seb's eyes deepened.
"Sharon, if you keep looking at me like that, I might not be able to control myself."
Sharon put down her fork and decided to ask him directly. "Last night, you..."
The office door suddenly opened, and Paul walked in hurriedly with a document. "Mr. Smith, there's a problem with the resort project jointly developed by our Group and the Montes Group. Many workers haven't been paid and are now blocking the building!"
Seb's face darkened, and he said coldly, "Contact the Montes Group and find out what's going on. We'll have a meeting in five minutes!"
"Got it."
Paul hurriedly left as quickly as he had come.
Seb stood up, about to leave, but then remembered Sharon's interrupted words and looked down at her. "Sharon, what were you going to say?"
Sharon shook her head, "Nothing important, you go ahead with your work."
"Alright, let me know if you need anything."
"Okay, you go on."
Hearing this, Seb said no more, nodded, and quickly walked to the meeting room.
Watching Seb's back, Sharon's eyes flickered. She looked down at the barely touched food on the table, having lost her appetite.
After tidying up the food, Sharon got up and left.
While waiting for the elevator, Sharon saw several Silvercrest Group shareholders coming out, all looking hurried and serious.
Back in her office, Sharon leaned against a pillow but couldn't fall asleep. It felt like a heavy stone was pressing on her chest, making it hard to breathe.
Sharon believed that Seb wouldn't betray her or do anything to hurt her, but his lies made her uneasy.
Sharon sighed, her slender fingers unconsciously playing with the ears of a piglet pillow, her face clouded with worry.
She decided that tonight she would find a chance to ask Seb what was really going on.
This guessing game was too torturous.
In the evening, as Sharon was packing up to leave work, her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing it was a call from Seb, she swiped to answer.
"Sharon, you go home first tonight. I have to work late, so don't wait up for me. Get some rest."
Sharon's heart tightened, "Is the problem from noon very serious?"
"Yes, it's a bit serious, but it should be resolved in a few days. Don't worry."
Hearing the fatigue in Seb's voice, Sharon felt a pang of worry, "Remember to eat dinner, don't wait until your stomach is in pain like last time."
"Okay, I have to go to a meeting now. Talk to you later."
After hanging up, Sharon sighed, packed her things, and left.
It was late at night when Seb finally came home.
As soon as Seb stepped into the living room, he saw Sharon curled up asleep on the sofa.
His previously cold eyes softened, and the chill from outside dissipated.
After changing his shoes, Seb walked quietly to the sofa and looked down at Sharon's sleeping face.
Sharon was a light sleeper and sensed a shadow falling over her. She slowly opened her eyes.
Seeing it was Seb, she rubbed her eyes and sat up, her voice lazy from sleep, "You're back? What time is it?"
"Twelve-thirty."
"It's that late already!"
Sharon instantly lost her sleepiness and looked up at Seb, "How did things go?"
"We've come up with a plan. It should be resolved in the next couple of days."
Hearing this, Sharon finally felt relieved, "That's good."
As soon as she finished speaking, Sharon suddenly felt herself being lifted.
The sensation of weightlessness startled her, and she quickly wrapped her arms around Seb's neck.
"What are you doing! You scared me!"
Seeing her still frightened expression, Seb smiled slightly, "You should get used to it. I'll be carrying you like this often."
Sharon remained silent.
"Alright, you've been working for so long. Aren't you tired? Put me down."
"I could hold you forever and never get tired."
His arms tightened around Sharon as he turned and walked upstairs.
Leaning against his chest, Sharon could hear his steady and strong heartbeat, and her face flushed.
After carrying Sharon back to the bedroom, Seb kissed her forehead gently, his voice soft, "Sleep well. Oh, and don't forget we have a party to attend tomorrow night. It's Saturday, so you can go buy a couple of outfits."
Sharon looked up and met his deep, starry eyes, her heart racing. She quickly looked away. "Okay, it's late. You should get some rest too."
Seb tucked her in and said softly, "Goodnight."
