Chapter 148 Should She Really Give Up?

Sharon walked into the hospital room, lips pursed. "Dad, I'm planning to send you abroad for treatment. Dr. Steven's on board. Once you're better and everything's set, I'll get tickets for you and Aunt Karen."

Robert immediately shook his head. "No, I'm staying here."

"Dad, the medical care abroad is better. You need proper treatment..."

Robert cut her off. "And after you send us away? Fight the Smith family alone?"

Sharon looked down. "No, you told me to stop."

"Then why are you still involved with the Smith family?" Robert slammed the utensils on the table, eyes blazing.

"When did I get involved with them?"

"Don't lie! You just divorced Alex and now you're with his uncle. What are you trying to do?"

Sharon's eyes widened, turning cold. "Who told you that?"

"Does it matter? Is it true? Are you with Seb or not?"

The room went silent. Karen looked at Sharon with a mocking expression, thinking, 'Who gets with their ex-husband's uncle? It's laughable.'

After a few seconds, Sharon admitted, "Yes, I am."

Disappointment flashed in Robert's eyes. "I didn't raise you right. I let your mother down."

When Alex mentioned it before, Robert didn't believe it. But now, with Sharon's admission, he couldn't deny it.

"Dad, I know you don't understand. Just focus on getting better and don't worry about me."

Seeing Sharon's lack of remorse, Robert gritted his teeth. "Break up with him immediately, or I won't go abroad, and I won't see you again!"

Sharon stepped back, eyes flashing with disbelief. "Dad, I thought you were different, but you're just like the Smith family."

Karen sneered. "Sharon, don't blame me for being harsh. What do you gain from being with Seb? Do you really think he..."

Sharon cut her off coldly. "If you know your words are harsh, then don't say them. You're not my mother, so it's not your place to judge me."

Robert slapped Sharon, and the room fell silent. His hand trembled as he spoke with immense disappointment. "Karen's doing this for your own good. Even if she's not your mother, she's still an elder. How can you speak to her like that?"

Sharon lowered her eyes, her long hair hiding her face. The sting on her cheek was nothing compared to the hurt from Robert's words.

Sharon looked up at Robert and said, "I'll arrange the tickets. Whether you go or not is up to you. Since you don't want to see me, I won't come anymore."

With that, she turned and quickly left.

Robert tried to call her back, but no sound came out. He covered his face in pain, filled with regret. 'What have I done?' he thought.

Karen sighed softly, "Robert, don't blame yourself. It's not your fault; it's mine. If I hadn't said those things, you and Sharon wouldn't be like this."

Robert hung his head in silence.

Outside the hospital, Sharon wiped away her tears. For the first time, she doubted if everything she had done was wrong.

'Why is everyone against me? Should I really give up?' she wondered.

But thinking of how David and Alex had schemed against her and what David had done to the Wright family, she couldn't let it go. She had no way back now. She had to stay with Seb and use him to fight the Smith family.

Sharon returned to the villa after nine. Seb was already back, reading documents on the sofa.

"Where were you? Why are you back so late?"

Sharon shook her head. "It's nothing. I'm just tired. I'm going upstairs to rest."

As she passed by the sofa, Seb suddenly spoke, "Wait, what happened to your face?"

Sharon pursed her lips, about to speak, but Seb had already stood up and brushed her hair away from her cheek.

Seeing the slap mark, his expression turned cold. "Who did that?"

"No one, don't ask. I'm very tired and just want to rest."

Seb frowned but seeing Sharon's pale face, he didn't press further. He pulled her to the sofa and made her sit down.

"Wait here."

Seb went into the kitchen, and soon there were sounds of clattering. After a while, he came out with a bag of ice.

As the ice touched her face, Sharon couldn't help but frown.

"If it hurts, just say so."

"It's fine."

Seb didn't say anything more, and the room fell silent.

He looked down at Sharon. If the person who hit her was from the Smith family, Sharon would have told him, not acted like this. So, it must have something to do with her family.

Realizing this, Seb's eyes turned cold. Now that Sharon was his girlfriend, he wouldn't allow anyone to bully her, no matter who it was.

After about ten minutes of icing, Sharon felt the pain subside. She looked at Seb and said, "It's better now. Thank you."

Seb removed the ice and said, "I told you, don't always thank me. You're my girlfriend. If something's bothering you, tell me. I won't let anyone bully you."

A warm feeling surged in Sharon's heart, and her eyes felt a bit sore. "I understand."

Seeing Sharon's aggrieved but strong appearance, Seb felt a pang of heartache. He pulled her into his arms.

"Did you have dinner?"

"I did."

As soon as she spoke, Sharon's stomach growled, betraying her.

Seb's low laughter came from above her head, and Sharon wished she could disappear on the spot. 'Caught lying right away, could my day get any worse?' she thought.

Seb let her go and said gently, "I'll make you something to eat."
