Chapter 568 Just Tell Him the Truth
Alton looked at Paul and said seriously, "Paul, you've been with Seb for years. You don't want to see Silvercrest Group go under because of his bad decisions. I hope you can convince him to accept my help."
Paul was quiet for a moment before he replied slowly, "I appreciate the offer, Alton, but I don't think Seb will go for it. So, please leave."
Seeing Paul's cold attitude, Alton frowned.
In the end, he told Paul that if Seb changed his mind, he could reach out anytime. He'd be staying in Metropolis for the next few days.
After Alton left, Paul went straight to Seb's office.
"Mr. Smith, Mr. Roach is gone."
"Good. If he comes back, don't let him in."
Seb wouldn't give the Roach family another chance to manipulate him. To him, Alton and Carolyn were the same.
The difference was that Carolyn was straightforward and wouldn't pretend to be friendly like Alton.
"Got it, Mr. Smith."
After Paul left, Seb picked up his documents and continued reading.
Meanwhile, Alton left Silvercrest Group and didn't head back to his hotel. Instead, he had someone take him to Demetrius's preschool.
With his arrangements, he quickly met Demetrius.
Seeing Alton, Demetrius was excited.
"Mr. Roach, I thought you went back to Stellaria. Why are you here?"
Alton smiled, "Demetrius, don't you want to see me?"
"Of course I do."
"Good. I was worried you didn't want to keep in touch since you haven't contacted me lately."
"That's not true!" Demetrius hurriedly refuted, then lowered his head. "I've just been missing my mom."
Seeing Demetrius's sad expression, Alton felt a pang of sorrow.
He reached out and patted Demetrius's head gently. "Demetrius, didn't you say you wanted to learn hacking with me? I came to see if you've made any progress."
Demetrius shook his head. "Mr. Roach, I haven't touched a computer lately."
"Why not?"
"I wanted to learn hacking to give my mom a better life. But now that she's gone to Stellaria, it doesn't matter how good I get."
Alton's face turned grim, and he struggled to suppress his anger. He crouched down to look Demetrius in the eye.
"Demetrius, you can't give up on your years of hard work because of someone else."
"But my mom isn't just anyone."
He had wanted to learn hacking to earn money and support his mom, so she wouldn't have to work so hard.
Now that his mom was in Stellaria, earning money didn't matter anymore.
Alton forced a smile and said, "Demetrius, I understand your mom is important to you. But if you keep learning hacking, you might be able to find out where she is and see her again."
Demetrius hesitated, and just as Alton was about to continue persuading him, his phone rang.
Seeing it was Carolyn, his expression changed. He looked at Demetrius and said, "Demetrius, I have to go now. Think about what I said and call me when you've made up your mind."
He stood up and walked towards the door, answering the call.
Carolyn's cold, angry voice came through the phone, "Alton, I heard you're planning to help Silvercrest Group?"
Alton wasn't surprised Carolyn knew his moves so quickly. He replied calmly, "Yeah."
"Are you nuts? Are you trying to go against me for Silvercrest Group?"
Alton took a deep breath and said seriously, "Aunt Carolyn, I'm trying to help you."
"Help me? If you want to help me, come back to Metropolis right now and stop worrying about Silvercrest Group!"
"I'm afraid I can't do that."
The other end of the line went silent. Carolyn was clearly trying to keep her cool.
After a moment, Carolyn's cold voice came through again, "Alton, if you stay in Metropolis to help Silvercrest Group, you're going against me. Don't expect any family loyalty from me!"
Over the years, she had become the head of the Stoll family by being ruthless and decisive. She wouldn't let anyone ruin her plans, not even her nephew.
"Aunt Carolyn, you need to understand that if you want Sharon to listen to you, you shouldn't mess with Silvercrest Group. Everyone has their limits. If you push Sharon too far, who knows what she'll do. Don't wait until it's too late to regret it."
Carolyn sneered, "I don't believe she can affect me. I'm warning you, stay out of Silvercrest Group's business. You can't save them."
With that, Carolyn hung up.
Alton sighed, put away his phone, and got into the car to leave.
Meanwhile, in Carolyn's office, she was so angry she threw her phone.
Alton, whom she had supported for so many years, was now betraying her.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
She picked up the desk phone and dialed her brother's number, shouting, "Control your son! Don't let him undermine me in Metropolis. If he affects my position in the Stoll family, we'll all be finished!"
Shortly after, Alton received a call from his father.
"Alton, Carolyn is furious. Stay out of this. If she gets really angry, I won't be able to save you."
After a moment of silence, Alton replied quietly, "Got it. I'll be back in a couple of days."
Ending the call, Alton put away his phone, his face full of worry.
He felt that if things continued like this, they would spiral out of control.
For the next two days, Alton had his assistant try to arrange a meeting with Seb, but Seb refused to see him.
Finally, on the third morning, Alton had his assistant book a flight back to Stellaria.
Seb's attitude was clear, and there was no point in persisting.
That afternoon, Alton left.
Shortly after he left, Seb received the news.
"Mr. Smith, Mr. Roach seems to have given up."
"Good. What's the situation with Sharon?"
Before Sharon left, he had sent his men to Stellaria to wait for her to make contact.
"Our undercover agent has entered the Stoll family estate. Now we just wait for Ms. Roach to reach out to them."
Seb nodded, "Yes, if there's no emergency, Sharon wouldn't ask for their help."
"Mr. Smith, with an undercover agent in the estate, Ms. Roach should be safe. The most important thing now is to solve Silvercrest Group's problems so Carolyn won't have another chance to go after us."
"Yes, if anything happens over there, let me know right away."
"Understood."
After Paul left, Seb tried to focus on his documents again, but his mind kept drifting to Sharon and how she was doing.
He put down the papers and took out his phone to call Sharon via video chat.
However, after several attempts, she didn't answer.
His expression darkened, and a wave of unease washed over him. He immediately called Paul back in and asked him to contact the undercover agent to check if something had happened to Sharon.
Meanwhile, in Sharon's bedroom...
Carolyn, accompanied by several servants, was turning Sharon's room and luggage upside down.
Sharon, held by two servants, could only watch as her clothes and belongings were thrown carelessly on the floor, her eyes red with anger.
The servants handed two phones to Carolyn. "Madam, we only found these two phones. Ms. Roach doesn't seem to have any other communication devices. Oh, and we found this."
Carolyn nodded and took the item.
Seeing the simple map of the estate drawn on the paper, Carolyn chuckled and threw it out the window along with the phones.
Sharon's expression changed. "No!"
She struggled to stop Carolyn, but it was useless. The two servants held her arms tightly, like iron clamps, preventing her from moving. She could only watch as her phones were thrown out the window.
Seeing the hatred in Sharon's eyes, Carolyn walked up to her and looked down at her. "Since you can't learn to obey, I'll teach you. From now on, you won't receive any news about Seb or Metropolis. Your most important role now is to be my daughter and the future heir of the Stoll family."
"And don't bother drawing maps of the estate. If you want to escape, go ahead and try. Let's see if I catch you first or if you manage to get out."
Sharon glared at her, gritting her teeth. "The Stoll family won't always be under your control."
Carolyn laughed, her face full of mockery. "That's not for you to worry about. Just do what I need you to do."
With that, she turned and left.
As she left, the servants followed her out of the room.
The two servants who had been holding Sharon's arms let go and left as well. Sharon fell to the floor, looking at the mess in her room, her hands unconsciously clenching.
She had to find a way to get a message out. She couldn't just sit and wait.
But now, locked in the estate with no one she knew, she didn't even know who to send a message to or how to get it out.
After thinking for a while and coming up with nothing, Sharon pursed her lips and started to clean up the scattered items.
The next morning, just as Sharon got up, there was a knock on the door.
A servant's voice came through, "Ms. Roach, Madam says there are guests in the estate. She wants you to change and come to the living room."
Sharon sat up and replied, "Got it."
After getting up and getting ready, she walked to the living room about twenty minutes later.
Carolyn was sitting on the sofa, looking a bit impatient.
Across from Carolyn was a young man in his twenties, with blond hair and blue eyes. As Sharon walked into the living room, his gaze fell on her, filled with curiosity.
"You're here. Let me introduce you. This is Richie, the son of a good friend of mine. You two should get to know each other."
Sharon looked at the young man and said, "Hi, I'm Sharon."
Richie smiled, "Hi, Ms. Roach. I'm Richie."
Carolyn stood up and looked at them. "Sharon, take Richie for a walk in the garden. I have some things to do. We'll have lunch together at noon."
Sharon nodded, "Okay."
Seeing her so obedient, Carolyn was very satisfied.
She believed that once Sharon understood she had no other choice but to listen to her, she wouldn't resist anymore.
She stood up and told Richie to stay for lunch. Richie agreed happily.
Soon, Carolyn left, and the large living room was left with just Sharon and Richie.
Richie looked at her. "Sharon, shall we go for a walk?"
"Sure."
They walked towards the garden, with Richie initiating the conversation, making it less awkward.
After walking for over an hour, Richie smiled and said, "Sharon, I'm quite pleased with you. What do you think of me?"
In the living room, Sharon had already guessed that Carolyn wanted to set her up with Richie.
But she didn't bother to expose it. Even if she clashed with Carolyn, the latter would just find another way to make her comply.
So she didn't plan to confront Carolyn directly, but she also didn't intend to follow her wishes.
She looked at Richie and said, "Richie, you're a good person."
"Sharon, you should know that Carolyn wants to set us up."
"Yeah, Richie, can I ask you a question?"
"What is it?"
"Does your father or mother, or anyone else in your family, work for the Stoll family?"
Richie was taken aback. "My father works for Carolyn in the Stoll family. My mother is a good friend of hers."
"Did she ever tell your parents that I was married in the United States of Atlantis and have a five-year-old child? My husband and I love each other very much."
As Sharon finished speaking, Richie's face turned a bit grim.
"Sharon, I just remembered I have something to do. I won't be staying for lunch. Please apologize to Carolyn for me."
Sharon was happy to oblige. "Sure."
Seeing her agree, Richie turned and left in a hurry.
Watching his back, Sharon's lips curled up. There would be a good show soon.
Less than an hour later, Carolyn stormed in.
"Sharon, what did you say to Richie?"
To completely control the Stoll family, she needed Richie's father's support. She hadn't expected Sharon to ruin everything today.
Sharon remained calm, as if she had anticipated Carolyn's reaction.
"I just told him the truth. How was I supposed to know if you had told Richie about my marriage to Seb in the States?"
