Chapter 70 You Are His Nephew's Wife
Sharon stood still, feeling a dangerous vibe from Seb that made her instinctively want to distance herself. "Uncle Seb, it's dark here and inappropriate for us to be alone. I'll head back first."
After saying that, she turned and walked away. She had only gone so far when she heard footsteps behind her.
Panicking a bit, she instinctively tried to speed up, but she stumbled.
As she lost her balance, a strong hand grabbed her waist and pulled her back forcefully. She fell into Seb's arms.
Once she steadied herself, she quickly pushed him away and stepped back two paces.
Seb squinted, the danger in his gaze intensifying. "Using me and then running away; you're quite adept at burning bridges."
She bit her lower lip, looking somewhat embarrassed. "Uncle Seb, thank you for earlier. However, given our positions, it's better if we keep our distance."
He stepped closer. She instinctively wanted to retreat, but behind her was the conservatory door; she couldn't escape.
When they were close enough to hear each other's breaths, he looked down at her and said, "But I don't want to keep my distance."
Sharon took a deep breath and looked up at him, speaking each word deliberately, "Uncle Seb, Ms. Walker is more suitable for you. She's beautiful and..."
Before she could finish, her eyes widened in shock.
He had grabbed her chin and kissed her, swallowing her words.
Her eyes were filled with shock and disbelief; momentarily stunned.
This was the Smith family's residence! Seb had lost his mind!
Realizing what was happening, she pushed him away forcefully. "Uncle Seb, please respect yourself!"
Her heart was filled with anger, her gaze toward himicy cold.
"If I hear anything about Ms. Walker from your mouth again, I'll shut you up my way." Hearing the seriousness in Seb's tone, Sharon's hands clenched involuntarily.
She averted her gaze and said coldly, "If you don't like hearing it, I won't say it. Can I leave now?"
If someone saw her standing here with him late at night, who knew what they'd think?
Sandra already didn't like her. If she found out about Seb's feelings for her, who knew what she would do.
Seb's demeanor turned icy. "Do you really not want to be with me that much?"
"Uncle Seb, do you think it's appropriate for us to be alone given our positions? You might not be affected if people see us, but have you thought about what they'd say about me?"
After all, he was just curious about her. If he really liked her, he wouldn't disregard her reputation and corner her here in the middle of the night.
His eyes turned cold. "Who dares to speak out of line?"
Sharon chuckled, "People can say whatever they want; can you control their mouths?"
"I think you're not afraid of being seen by others, but by Alex. Are you so eager to move back because you're worried that woman outside will threaten your position?"
She turned her head away, her expression indifferent. "Since you know, stop bothering me anymore."
He grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. His expression was cold. "Sharon, I'm not someone you can mess with easily. You should've known the consequences when you provoked me!"
"I already said it was an accident."
He chuckled lightly, "Let's say the hotel incident was an accident. I saved you several times afterward; don't you think you owe me?"
She bit her lower lip. "How do you want me to repay you?"
"That's for you to figure out."
She pushed him away, about to speak when suddenly a flashlight beam shone toward them. "Who's there?"
In a flash, Seb pushed the conservatory door open, pulling Sharon inside before closing it back.
The conservatory was pitch black. He had her against the door, their bodies tightly pressed together. One hand gripped her waist, while the other held the door handle; leaving no space between them.
His steady heartbeat echoed in her ears. Sharon whispered, "Can you let go of me?"
Seb suddenly leaned close to her ear, his voice low and only audible to the two of them. "Someone's coming. If you don't want to be caught, don't speak."
As he said that, footsteps echoed outside the door.
The next moment, the door handle turned, making Sharon's heart race.
After a few attempts to turn it, the person outside sounded puzzled. "What's going on? Is the conservatory door broken?"
The person lingered at the door for a while but found nothing and left muttering.
Only after the footsteps faded did Sharon sigh in relief. "Can you let go of me now?"
Seb released her, about to speak when her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing it was Alex, she was about to answer when he said in a deeply, "If you're not afraid of him finding out we're alone in the conservatory, go ahead and answer."
She looked at him in disbelief. "Seb, don't you think you're being a bit despicable right now?"
Tonight, he felt like a stranger to her; he wasn't the person she knew before.
She couldn't understand why he wouldn't let her go.
He replied, "Do you really think Alex will break ties with that woman outside for you? Unless her baby's gone, she'll always come between you two."
Sharon, this foolish woman. She could've asked him for help to divorce Alex, but she stubbornly wanted to go back to Alex.
"Whatever happens to me has nothing to do with Uncle Seb, no?" her voice was cold, her hand holding the phone trembling slightly.
"Sharon!" his voice was filled with anger, but Sharon remained calm. "If you want to tell Alex about us being together, go ahead. I'm answering the call."
With that, she answered the phone.
Alex's voice came through. "Sharon, why did it take you so long to answer? I still have some work to handle here, so I'll have someone from the mansion bring you back."
Sharon lowered her eyes. "Okay, don't worry about me. Work is important."
After hanging up, she looked up at Seb.
Her phone's dim light only revealed his blurry profile and cold expression.
She could sense he was furious, but whether she divorced Alex or not, she couldn't give him what he wanted.
Rather than continuing this entanglement, it was better to cut ties now.
She said, "Uncle Seb, if there's nothing else, I'll be leaving."
Seb didn't reply, but his demeanor became even colder.
She didn't expect a response, so she left by the door.
After that night, Seb didn't seek her out again. Even when they occasionally ran into each other at work, he remained indifferent, acting as if he didn't know her.
Sharon's life returned to normal. She thought they wouldn't cross paths again, but Rebecca unexpectedly approached her a week later.
In the cafe downstairs at Silvercrest Group, Rebecca and Sharon sat across each other by the window.
"Ms. Wright, I feel like Mr. Seb is being a bit distant with me. You're his niece-in-law and work here. I want to pursue him, so can you help me?" Rebecca asked.
