Chapter 276 You Have No Right to Order Me Around

Hearing that, Sharon just went quiet. She didn't like it, but it was the best she could come up with right now.

Lately, she'd been having these dreams where Seb showed up, ready to fight her for Demetrius. Every morning, she'd wake up and check to make sure Demetrius was still there.

She hesitated, "But if I don't send Demetrius away, I got no other options."

Zachary paused, then said softly, "Sharon, chill. Seb's got amnesia. He might not even come after Demetrius. Just take it easy, okay?"

Sharon bit her lip and whispered, "I know, but I can't stop thinking about it."

Zachary tried to reassure her, "I'll be back tomorrow. Let's meet up and talk it over. There's gotta be a better way."

"Okay."

After hanging up, Zachary thought for a bit and then called his secretary. "Get in touch with Paul Harris, Seb's secretary at Silvercrest Group. Set up a meeting for when I get back to Aidamore tomorrow."

The next evening, Zachary dragged himself back to Aidamore, totally wiped out. First thing he did was meet Paul.

As soon as Zachary sat down across from Paul, he cut to the chase, "Mr. Harris, I know what you're digging into, but you need to stop."

Paul frowned, looking ticked off. "Mr. Cook, with all due respect, you can't just boss me around."

If Zachary hadn't hidden Sharon, Seb might've found her before Tyler messed with his memory, and none of this would be happening.

Zachary stayed cool, looking Paul dead in the eye. "Mr. Harris, Seb's forgotten Sharon and she's finally at peace. Why stir things up and mess up everyone's lives? Sometimes, not knowing is better."

Paul sneered, "Mr. Cook, don't act all high and mighty. You're just scared Seb will take Sharon from you."

Zachary raised an eyebrow, saying confidently, "I've been with Sharon for five years, through her worst times. I know I mean more to her now than Seb does. But I'm not asking for anything. I just want her happy. Your digging is messing with her, and I won't let anyone hurt her."

Paul stayed quiet, but the anger on his face eased up a bit.

"Seb hasn't been happy these past few years."

Even though Seb forgot Sharon and got engaged to Rebecca, Paul always knew Rebecca never really had his heart.

"Whether he's happy or not isn't Sharon's problem. Mr. Harris, you can't wreck Sharon's happiness for Seb's sake. Besides, Sharon wants nothing to do with him now. If you keep pushing, I'll have to stop you myself!"

Paul raised an eyebrow. "Is that a threat?"

"Just a heads-up. But remember, Sharon's my line in the sand, and this ain't Metropolis."

With that, Zachary got up and left.

Paul sat in the restaurant for a long time before finally getting up to leave. Back at the hotel, he picked up his phone and called his team. "Stop looking into Sharon."

On the way to Sharon's place, Zachary got a text saying Paul’s guys had stopped snooping around Demetrius. A grin spread across his face.

Looked like Paul got the message loud and clear. Smart move.

Even though Zachary wasn’t scared of taking on Silvercrest Group, it was better to handle this quietly.

By the time he got to Sharon’s house, it was already past seven in the evening.

When the doorbell rang, Sharon was playing with Demetrius.

Seeing Zachary at the door, Sharon’s eyes lit up with surprise. "You're back."

"Yep, and I brought a gift for Demetrius."

Sharon took it and couldn’t help but smile. "He was just talking about this toy a few days ago. Didn’t think you’d get it for him today."

"Guess Demetrius and I are on the same wavelength." Zachary chuckled, giving Sharon a warm look.

Sharon felt her cheeks heat up and looked away. "Have you eaten?"

Zachary shook his head. "Haven’t had the time."

"Then hang out with Demetrius for a bit. We don’t have much, but I’ll whip up some pasta."

"Sounds good."

After handing the gift to Demetrius, Sharon headed to the kitchen.

Demetrius, holding a toy almost as big as he was, blushed with excitement. "Mr. Cook, thank you!"

Zachary ruffled his hair. "As long as you like it. By the way, does your mom know about the tablet I got you last time?"

Demetrius shook his head, looking a bit guilty. "No, I haven’t told her yet."

That day, after seeing Seb, he overheard Sharon and Donna mention Seb’s name on the phone and secretly looked him up on the tablet.

After seeing Seb’s photo, Demetrius compared it carefully and felt they looked almost identical, making him more convinced that Seb was his real dad.

In the past few days, he’d been planning to meet Seb.

But deep down, he still liked Zachary more.

"Demetrius, don’t slack off on your studies because of the tablet, or your mom will be mad, and we’ll both be in trouble."

Demetrius nodded. "Okay, I know."

When Sharon brought out the pasta from the kitchen, she saw Demetrius and Zachary whispering with their heads together.

She couldn’t help but smile and said softly, "Zachary, come eat the pasta."

"Alright."

Zachary went to wash his hands. When he sat down at the table, he praised, "Smells amazing. Bet it tastes just as good."

"Dig in." Sharon sat across from him, smiling.

Even though Zachary was starving, he ate with elegance.

After about ten minutes, he finished the last bite and put down his fork, exclaiming, "Delicious!"

Sharon reminded, "No matter how good it is, you shouldn’t eat too much at night."

Sharon got up to clear the dishes, but Zachary beat her to it and took them to the kitchen.

"Let me. You must be tired from cooking."

Sharon didn’t argue and wiped the table with a cloth.

When Zachary finished washing the dishes and came out of the kitchen, Sharon had already made him some tea.

His eyes softened as he sat down across from her.

Sharon said, "Donna just brought this tea from home. Give it a try."

Zachary took a sip and smiled. "It’s really good."

Through the rising steam, he looked at Sharon and said slowly, "Sharon, have you thought about what I mentioned before I left?"
