Chapter 220 I Want to Be the Only One by Your Side
Sharon stared at the bubbling soup, staying quiet.
The kitchen was silent except for Seb chopping veggies and the range hood humming.
When Seb finished with the potatoes, Sharon said, "Go chill in the living room. I'll take it from here."
Cooking together wasn't their thing.
Sharon regretted not sending him away earlier.
Seb looked at her for a bit, then nodded. "Okay."
Once he left, Sharon sighed in relief.
She ladled the soup, rinsed the pot, and got back to cooking.
Ten minutes later, she brought the food out and found Seb asleep on the couch.
Surprised, she tiptoed around.
After setting the table, she debated waking him.
She decided to wait half an hour, but Seb woke up in ten minutes.
He looked confused at first, then composed himself.
Seb glanced at Sharon, who was on her phone, and cleared his throat.
"Why didn't you wake me?"
Sharon looked up. "You seemed tired. I was gonna let you sleep for half an hour."
Seb hadn't meant to fall asleep. He'd been really busy and was exhausted.
He rubbed his temples and stood up. "Next time, just wake me."
Sharon nodded, thinking there probably wouldn't be a next time.
"Want to wash up before eating?"
"Okay."
They sat down to eat, and it was past seven.
Seb looked apologetic. "Sorry, I didn't mean to fall asleep."
"It's fine. You didn't sleep long. Let's eat."
During the meal, Sharon wanted to ask about the investigation, but Seb was focused on eating.
Finally, when Seb put down his fork, Sharon asked, "How's the investigation going?"
Seb, seeing her anxious, said, "We found Leo contacted Gilbert Hawkins from the Pacific Wellness Institute. And from their calls, we can confirm Leo leaked the data."
Sharon pressed her lips, not feeling any relief.
Since Leo went abroad, they hadn't talked, and she felt she never wronged him.
She couldn't understand why Leo did this.
"What’s the company planning next?"
Seb's eyes were cold. "We'll sue him. He won't work in this industry again."
Sharon tightened her grip on her fork, looking down.
Seb frowned. "What's wrong? You feel sorry for him?"
Sharon shook her head. "No, I just don't get why he did it."
"You don't need to know. Just remember he wanted to harm you. Stay away from him."
"Okay."
After dinner, Seb helped with the dishes. Sharon tried to refuse but gave in.
After loading the dishwasher, Sharon looked at Seb. "It's late, Mr. Smith. You should go. I need to get ready for bed."
Seb's eyes showed a hint of sadness. "Alright, don't worry about the data leak. I'll handle it."
"Okay."
Sharon was about to take out the trash, so she walked Seb downstairs.
Seb wanted to spend more time with her, so he didn't offer to take the trash for her.
Sharon lived on a low floor, so even if Seb wanted to linger, he didn't have much time.
After seeing Seb off and tossing the trash, Sharon turned to him. "Mr. Smith, I won't see you off any further."
With that, she turned and left.
Seb watched her go, his expression complicated.
He could tell Sharon had moved on.
He didn't know how long it would take for her to forgive him, but he believed that day would come.
Back at her door, Sharon was about to unlock it when she heard a noise from the security door next to her.
Startled, she turned to see Leo walking out of the hallway.
His gaze was fixed on her, dark and unreadable.
Sharon felt uneasy and tried to quickly unlock her door.
But just as her hand touched the lock, a large hand grabbed her wrist.
"Let go of me!"
Sharon tried to shake him off, but Leo's grip was strong.
Leo's lips curled into a smile. "Sharon, when I saw you this morning, I guessed you knew it was me."
Fear surged in Sharon's heart, and her face turned pale.
"Leo, I don't think I've ever wronged you. Why are you framing me?"
Leo's expression softened, revealing his love. "Because I want to be with you."
Sharon stood frozen, disbelief and shock in her eyes. "You're crazy! We're siblings!"
Leo chuckled, gently caressing her face. His fingers were cold, and Sharon shivered, slapping his hand away. "Don't touch me!"
Her expression was angry, her eyes filled with disgust.
If Leo had said he hated her or was avenging Karen, she wouldn't have felt so repulsed.
But he said he framed her to be with her?
"Sharon, we have no blood relation. When you were with Alex, I was abroad and couldn't come back. Later, when you got married, I had no right to stop it. But now that you're divorced, why can't you be with me?"
Sharon looked at Leo coldly, trembling with anger. "Because I don't like you."
As soon as she finished speaking, Leo grabbed her chin and kissed her.
Sharon turned her head forcefully, his lips landing on her cheek, making her feel instantly nauseous.
"Leo, let go of me! You don't love me; you just want to destroy me!"
Leo whispered in her ear, "I just want to be the only one by your side. Only then will you rely on me."
"You're insane!"
Leo didn't mind her curses; instead, he smiled and grabbed her chin to kiss her again.
Sharon's eyes were filled with disgust, and she struggled, but it was futile.
Just as Leo's lips were about to touch hers, Sharon suddenly felt a weight lift off her.
Before she could react, she was pulled behind Seb, who had returned.
