Chapter 507 I Won't Do Anything Stupid

Sharon looked up and saw the deep sadness in his eyes, and her heart ached involuntarily.

She reached out and hugged Seb, whispering, "As long as the three of us are together, that's all that matters."

They held each other quietly, as if time had stopped in that moment.

After a while, there was a knock on the door.

Seb released Sharon and called out, "Come in."

Paul walked in and reported the day's progress to Seb. "Mr. Smith, the employees' salaries and severance pay have been distributed. They'll pack up and leave after work tonight. The shareholders have also taken their money and left."

As he spoke, Paul's eyes reddened.

He had never imagined that the place he had worked at for so many years would one day go bankrupt.

If it weren't for Raymond leaking so much data, Silvercrest Group wouldn't have ended up like this.

Seb, looking exhausted, pinched the bridge of his nose and said, "Got it. You should go to finance and collect your salary and severance pay, then leave."

The company was bankrupt; he no longer needed a secretary.

Paul shook his head. "Mr. Smith, I don't need it. The salary and bonuses you've given me over the years are enough for me to buy a house and live comfortably."

In fact, if he was frugal, achieving financial freedom wouldn't be a problem.

Seb frowned and said firmly, "You'll get every penny you're owed. Go collect your pay."

Paul wanted to refuse, but Sharon spoke up first. "Mr. Harris, please do as he says."

Under Sharon's gentle yet firm gaze, Paul was silent for a moment before nodding. "Alright, Ms. Roach, I understand."

"You can go now. I'll stay with him for a while."

Paul didn't say anything more. He gave Seb a deep look before turning and leaving.

With only Seb and Sharon left in the office, she walked over to him and said, "You've been working non-stop for years without a break. Take this opportunity to rest for a while. Once you're ready, whether you want to start a new business or do something else, I'll support you. Don't worry, you still have me and Demetrius."

Hearing the comfort in her voice, Seb's lips curved into a slight smile. "You don't need to worry about me. I won't do anything foolish."

If he were alone, he might have considered ending it all.

But now, he couldn't just think about himself; he had to consider Sharon and Demetrius.

If he were gone, what would happen to them?

"I understand."

They stayed in the office for a long time. When they left, the Silvercrest Group building, usually brightly lit, had only a few windows still glowing.

Once in the car, Seb told the driver, "Drive around Silvercrest Group."

He wanted to take one last look at the company he had built from the ground up. After filing for bankruptcy, it would no longer be his.

The black Maybach circled the Silvercrest Group building, and Seb's eyes reddened.

Silvercrest Group had grown from nothing, from just a few employees to tens of thousands, thanks to the relentless efforts of him and his team over the past decade.

But after today, the company would cease to exist.

Seeing his reddened eyes, Sharon felt a pang in her heart and turned away to wipe her tears.

She knew that the bankruptcy of Silvercrest Group hurt Seb more than anyone else.

But all she could do was stay by his side.

At that moment, she felt a deep sense of helplessness.

If only she could do more to help him.

Back at the villa, Seb looked at Sharon and said softly, "Sharon, I need some time alone in the study. Don't call me for dinner."

"How long will you be?"

Seeing the worry in Sharon's eyes, Seb reached out and touched her head, his voice hoarse. "Don't worry. With you and Demetrius here, I won't do anything foolish. I promise."

Sharon bit her lip, still worried.

"I promise. If I were to leave you and Demetrius, that would be too selfish. Trust me, okay?"

Meeting Seb's serious gaze, Sharon was silent for a moment before finally nodding.

"Alright. I'll be in the living room. If you get hungry, just call me."

"Okay. Don't wait up for me. I might sleep in the study tonight. Go to bed early."

"Alright."

Seb turned and walked towards the study, his steps heavy.

Watching his retreating figure, Sharon's eyes were full of worry. She was really afraid that Seb might do something drastic... but for now, all she could do was trust him.

The sudden bankruptcy of Silvercrest Group was a lot for him to process.

After Seb disappeared around the corner, Dana hurried over, looking anxious. "Ms. Roach, I heard Mr. Smith's company went bankrupt. Is that true?"

Sharon looked at Dana and nodded. "Yes."

"How could this happen?" Dana looked incredulous.

Such a big company, gone just like that?

Sharon was about to speak when her phone rang.

Seeing it was Demetrius's kindergarten teacher, she quickly answered.

"Ms. Roach, Mr. Wendy just picked up Jerold and took Demetrius with him. I couldn't stop him."

Sharon's expression changed. "I understand."

Hanging up, she looked at Dana. "I need to go out. I might not be back for dinner. Seb is in a bad mood right now, so don't tell him I'm gone."

Seeing Sharon's urgency, Dana nodded. "Alright, I understand."

Leaving the villa, Sharon started the car and dialed Leo's number.

He seemed to have been waiting for her call, answering after just two rings.

"Sharon, what's wrong?"

Leo's voice was gentle, but it made Sharon feel sick.

"Leo, where did you take Demetrius? If anything happens to him, I won't let you off!"

Leo chuckled. "Sharon, don't worry. I just invited Demetrius over for dinner. I'll bring him back after. Of course, you're welcome to join us. Should I send you the address?"

With that, he hung up.

Soon, he sent a text with the address.

Seeing the address, Sharon's face darkened. She stepped on the gas, and the car quickly disappeared around the corner.

Half an hour later, Sharon's car stopped in front of Leo's house.

She got out, her face cold, and rang the doorbell.

The door opened quickly. "Ms. Roach, Mr. Wendy asked me to bring you in."

Sharon pushed past and quickly walked inside. Entering the living room, she saw only Leo sitting on the couch, and her expression changed.

"Leo, where's Demetrius?"

Seeing her, Leo's eyes softened. "Sharon, he's upstairs playing with Jerold. He's safe, don't worry. Since it's your first time here, let me show you around."

Sharon didn't even look at him, quickly heading upstairs.
