Chapter 95 Consider it my wishful thinking

Seb's face was stone-cold. "Guess I was just being sentimental," he said icily before turning on his heel and leaving.

Alex's eyes blazed as he looked at Sharon. "When did this bar incident happen? Why am I just hearing about it now?"

"Do I have to tell you everything? Could you have gone back in time to protect me?"

Alex clenched his jaw. "Sharon, you know I don't want you mixed up with Uncle Seb!"

The thought of Sharon getting hurt to save Seb and wrecking his plans made Alex's blood boil.

Sharon's expression was indifferent. "I don't want you seeing Ava either, but you still sneak around with her, don't you?"

Alex's face darkened, but he couldn't argue back.

Seeing his anger, Sharon chuckled lightly. "Just go. I don't want to see you."

Alex stared at her for a long moment, his eyes cold. "Don't forget, one word from me and your dad's kidney transplant won't happen."

Sharon's face twisted with fury. "Alex, besides threatening me with my dad, what else can you do?"

Alex stepped forward, gripping her chin. "At least it works. If you don't behave, your dad's kidney goes to someone else next month."

Sharon bit her lip until she tasted blood but didn't back down. She looked at Alex, his once-familiar features now feeling so foreign.

This wasn't the Alex who had promised to treat her well forever. She used to believe in his promises, but now she saw how naive she'd been. Maybe he meant it back then, but people change.

"What do you want? An apology? For me to beg?"

Alex laughed coldly. "Sharon, don't act like I'm the one who wronged you. Can you honestly say you had no feelings for Seb when you took that knife for him?"

From the way Sharon looked at Seb, Alex knew she wasn't as indifferent as she claimed. But Sharon was his wife. She should love him, not Seb.

Sharon's voice was firm. "No!"

Alex's eyes glinted dangerously as he leaned in. "Sharon, I know you. When you lie, your right pinky trembles. Maybe you haven't noticed?"

Sharon's eyes flickered, and she glared at him. "What do you want?"

"It's not about what I want. It's about you learning the consequences of defying me."

With that, Alex let her go and turned to leave. Just as he reached the door, he heard hurried footsteps behind him.

Sharon grabbed the hem of his suit. "Alex, please don't give my dad's kidney to someone else. I'm begging you."

Her tearful voice softened Alex's heart a bit. Since she found out about his affair, this was the first time she'd spoken to him like this.

He turned to look at her pleading face, his breath catching. After several seconds, he finally said in a low voice, "This is your last chance. Don't waste it."

Leaving the hospital room, Alex spotted Seb standing nearby and walked over, his face stern.

"Uncle Seb, are you waiting for me? Got something to say?"

Seb's eyes were cold. "I care about her. If I find out you're making things hard for her, I'll make sure you lose everything."

Alex chuckled coldly. "Uncle Seb, you're quite the romantic. If the woman you loved wasn't my wife, I might even be touched."

The thought of Seb wanting Sharon made Alex wish Seb would disappear.

If Sharon hadn't messed things up, Seb would be the one in that hospital bed right now.

"You two will divorce sooner or later."

Alex's face twisted with anger. "Uncle Seb, even if I die, I won't divorce her. If you have the guts, go ahead and kill me."

"You think I won't?"

Seb's presence was suffocating, like an impenetrable wall. Alex's hand clenched at his side, fear creeping in, but he kept his face calm.

"I know you will, but if you kill me, Grandpa and Grandma won't let Sharon be with you. Her family might even be in danger because of your affection. Can you protect them forever? Uncle Seb, take care of yourself."

After leaving the hospital, Alex called Joseph, his voice cold. "How's it going with Irvin?"

"He's taking all the blame, hasn't mentioned being instructed by anyone."

No surprise there. Alex had made Irvin an offer he couldn't refuse.

"Good. Keep an eye on him. Let me know if there is any updates."

Hanging up, Alex laughed coldly. Seb got lucky this time, but next time, he wouldn't be so fortunate. Seb had made plenty of enemies over the years.

Back at the office, Paul rushed in with a file.

"Mr. Smith, we found something about the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident from six years ago. Take a look."

Seb frowned, taking the file. As he read, his face darkened.

"Mr. Smith, what should we do with this evidence?"

"Destroy it immediately. Brian must not find out!"

Seb's grip on the file turned his knuckles white. He hadn't realized the funds David used against Robert Pharmaceuticals were borrowed from him. David had said he was acquiring a small company, and Seb hadn't asked for details, just transferred the money.

If Sharon found out, she'd never forgive him. This had to stay secret.

"And your brother's scheme against Robert Pharmaceuticals, should we hide that too?"

"No, we can give Brian some clues at the right time."

As long as Sharon got the evidence, she'd leave Alex.

Paul looked surprised but didn't ask further, nodding and leaving the office.

Once alone, Seb's gaze turned icy. He hadn't planned to act against Alex, but today's threats made him think it was time to teach Alex a lesson.
