Chapter 500 Things'll Get Better After This Busy Period
"Why are you guys here so early?"
Seeing the dark circles under his eyes, Sharon felt a pang of sympathy. "I got Paul's message this morning, so I brought Demetrius over. We haven't seen you in days, and we missed you."
As she spoke, Seb walked over to her. "I have a meeting soon, so I don't have much time to spend with you and Demetrius."
"I understand."
Seb hugged Sharon, then Demetrius, and said softly, "If everything goes well, I shouldn't have any more meetings tonight and can come home early to be with you both."
"Great, I brought you breakfast. Have some."
"Okay."
While Seb ate breakfast, Demetrius and Sharon sat nearby, watching him.
"You haven't been eating properly these past few days, have you? You've lost weight."
Seb took a sip of milk. "It's not too bad. Once this busy period is over, things will get better."
Just as Seb finished breakfast, Paul walked in.
"Mr. Smith, the meeting is about to start."
"Alright, take the materials to the conference room."
After Paul left, Seb turned to Sharon. "Sharon, I have to go to the meeting now. You and Demetrius should head home."
"Okay, we'll wait for you to come home for dinner tonight."
Seb stood up and said gently, "If I can't make it home tonight, I'll send you a message in advance."
With that, he quickly left the office.
Demetrius watched his father leave with a heavy heart, then looked up at Sharon, feeling sad. "Mom, is Dad going to be at the company for several days again?"
Sharon gently patted his head and said softly, "No, we'll wait for Dad at home, okay?"
"But I want to wait for Dad here."
He was afraid that if they went home, it would be days before they saw Seb again.
Seeing the worry in his eyes, Sharon knelt down and said slowly, "Don't worry. If Dad can't come home for dinner tonight, we'll bring him dinner, just like this morning, okay?"
"Also, Dad needs to work. If we stay here, we'll distract him, and he'll have to work late into the night."
Demetrius shook his head. "I don't want Dad to work late."
"Neither do I. So let's go home and not disturb Dad at work, okay?"
After a moment of hesitation, Demetrius finally agreed. "Okay."
Before leaving with Demetrius, Sharon found Paul and asked about Seb's schedule for the next few days. Learning that Seb was so busy he barely had time to eat, Sharon frowned.
"Make sure he eats lunch, no matter what. I'll call him to check in. If he can't make it home tonight, let me know, and I'll bring him dinner."
"Got it."
Around 3 PM, Sharon received a call from Paul. "Ms. Roach, there's still a lot of work to be done. Mr. Smith probably won't be able to come home for dinner tonight."
Sharon wasn't surprised by this. "Okay, I understand. I'll bring him dinner later."
After hanging up, Sharon went to the kitchen and cooked a few dishes herself, made some soup, and had Dana pack everything. She then took Demetrius to bring Seb dinner.
As they arrived at the Silvercrest Group building, they ran into Leo.
Seeing Sharon holding Demetrius's hand and carrying a thermal container, clearly bringing dinner for Seb, Leo's eyes darkened.
A wave of jealousy and anger surged within him.
Suppressing his emotions, he forced a smile. "Sharon, bringing dinner for Seb, huh?"
Sharon didn't want to engage with him and walked past him towards the lobby.
Leo's face darkened, and he reached out to block her. "Sharon, do you hate me so much that you won't even talk to me?"
Sharon frowned. "Please move."
"Sharon." Leo's face showed hurt, and his eyes were full of disappointment as he looked at her.
Sharon looked at him with disdain. "Leo, we have nothing to do with each other anymore. You've been targeting Silvercrest Group behind our backs. Do you think we can still talk calmly?"
Hearing her defend Seb, Leo was filled with jealousy.
She only saw him targeting Silvercrest Group, but not Seb and Alexander plotting against him?
"Sharon, do you know why my company is named Vertex Innovations Group?"
"I don't care. If you don't move, I'll call security!"
"Because you once said it would be a good name for a company, so I used it. Vertex Innovations Group was created for you, though you might have forgotten."
Sharon sneered and looked at him. "Leo, are you so good at pretending to be devoted that you believe it yourself?"
"I don't care about the meaning behind your company's name. Stop disgusting me, okay?"
If Robert and Karen hadn't gotten married, they would be strangers.
Even after their marriage, she and Leo only interacted for two years, with little contact during that time.
She knew she wasn't unattractive, but she wasn't stunning enough for Leo to love her for so many years.
And if he truly loved her, he wouldn't have married Ayla and had a child with her.
"Sharon... I..."
"Stop. I don't want to hear it."
Her rejection was so obvious that Leo's body trembled, and he stepped back, his hand dropping weakly.
Sharon's expression was cold as she pulled Demetrius away without looking back.
After they left, Zack cautiously reminded, "Mr. Wendy, are we still meeting Mr. Smith?"
Leo had nearly confessed to Sharon at the entrance. He feared that if Leo met Seb now, he would be thrown out.
After all, what man could tolerate someone openly pursuing his girlfriend?
"Yes."
With that, Leo walked into the Silvercrest Group lobby.
But as soon as he reached the reception, he was stopped.
"Mr. Wendy, I'm sorry, but Mr. Smith's schedule is full today. He doesn't have time to see you. Would you like to make an appointment? I'll notify you when he's available."
Leo's face darkened. "Tell him I have a business proposal and can help solve Silvercrest Group's current crisis."
He didn't believe Seb could resist such an offer.
The receptionist continued to smile sweetly. "Mr. Wendy, please leave. I'll pass on your message."
Realizing he was being brushed off, Leo sneered. "Fine! Tell Seb he'll regret today's decision!"
After Leo left, the receptionist dropped her smile and made a phone call.
