Chapter 510 Watched Over You All Night

Hearing this, Sharon bit her lower lip unconsciously and stood there for a moment. Eventually, she sighed and left without saying another word.

Back in the living room, Dana quickly approached her. "Ms. Roach, how's Mr. Smith doing?"

Sharon shook her head. "He's okay, don't worry. But he still doesn't want to come out for dinner. Keep his food warm tonight. Whenever he feels like eating, just bring it to him."

Dana nodded quickly. "Got it, Ms. Roach. You should go eat now."

"Alright."

Sharon didn't have much of an appetite. The bankruptcy of Silvercrest Group and Demetrius being forcibly taken and hidden by Leo at preschool today had drained her.

But for Seb and Demetrius, she had to force herself to eat. They both needed her.

She sat down at the dining table. Seeing that it was just her, Demetrius frowned.

"Mom, isn't Dad eating?"

Sharon forced a smile. "No, he doesn't want to eat right now. Let's eat first."

Demetrius pouted. "Okay."

Dinner was a quiet affair.

After dinner, Sharon comforted Demetrius for a while before saying, "Demetrius, your dad is very tired lately. Don't tell him about being taken and locked up by Jerold's dad, okay? We don't want him to worry."

Demetrius nodded obediently. "Okay, Mom, I understand."

Sharon kissed him on the cheek as a reward and smiled. "Good boy, Demetrius!"

After playing with Demetrius for a bit, Sharon had Dana take him for a bath and put him to bed.

Once Demetrius was asleep, Dana came downstairs.

Seeing Sharon reading on the couch, Dana hesitated for a moment before approaching. "Ms. Roach, it's past nine. You should go upstairs and rest. I'll keep an eye on Mr. Smith."

"No need, Dana. I can't sleep right now. You go rest. I'll stay here with him."

Since Silvercrest Group's bankruptcy, Sharon's research project had also been halted. Like Seb, she no longer needed to go to work at Silvercrest Group.

"Ms. Roach..."

Dana wanted to persuade her, but Sharon's phone rang, interrupting her.

Sharon glanced at the phone and saw it was Donna. Her eyes flickered as she answered.

As soon as the call connected, Donna's composed voice came through. "Sharon, I just got back from a business trip. I heard from Mr. McPherson that Silvercrest Group's research project was halted?"

"Yeah, Silvercrest Group is filing for bankruptcy next Monday. The project won't have funding to continue. I'll be handing over Jake's work in the next few days and sending him back to Aidamore."

There was a brief silence on the other end before Donna spoke again. "What about you? Aren't you coming back?"

"No, Seb and I have resolved our past misunderstandings and are back together. I'm not planning to return to Aidamore. Once the lab handover is complete, I'll stay in Metropolis and look for a job here."

"Have you told Mr. McPherson about this?"

"I mentioned it during our last call, and he agreed."

"Since you've made up your mind, I won't try to persuade you otherwise. But I want to remind you, never give up your career for a man. Betting on love is a risky gamble."

Seb might be grateful to Sharon now that he's down, but if he ever rises to the top again, he might not remember her kindness.

Understanding Donna's implication, Sharon lowered her gaze and spoke earnestly. "Donna, I know you're looking out for me, but Seb is worth it. He didn't have another woman for five years, not knowing if I was alive or dead. I believe I won't lose this bet. Even if I do, I won't regret it."

"Alright, as long as you're sure. I'll always support you. But if you stay in Metropolis, we might not see each other often."

Donna had decided to stay and build her career in Aidamore during her graduate studies. Over the years, she had saved enough to buy a house there.

When Sharon returned, Donna had already started house hunting.

"As long as we keep each other in our hearts, distance doesn't matter. Besides, I might visit Aidamore with Seb and Demetrius someday. We'll find a way to meet."

Donna chuckled. "I have to get back to my experiment. Talk to you later."

"Goodbye."

After hanging up, Sharon turned to Dana. "Dana, you don't need to persuade me. Even if I go upstairs, I won't sleep. I need to be here for him. You go rest."

Seeing Sharon's determined expression, Dana knew she couldn't change her mind.

"Alright, but if you need anything, just call me."

Sharon nodded. "Okay, go rest."

After Dana left, the living room quickly became quiet with only Sharon remaining.

She glanced towards the study, worry flashing in her eyes, but decided to give him more time.

The sudden bankruptcy of a company built over years was a heavy blow for anyone, but she believed Seb would come around.

Once he did, he would bounce back quickly.

Seb stayed in the study all night, and Sharon kept vigil in the living room until she dozed off at dawn.

Around seven in the morning, the study door finally opened.

Having not slept all night, Seb had bloodshot eyes, his shirt wrinkled, and stubble shadowed his jaw, giving him a disheveled look.

As he walked into the living room and saw Sharon asleep on the couch, he paused.

He approached the couch and looked down at her sleeping face.

She wasn't sleeping well; even in her sleep, her brows were furrowed.

Seeing the dark circles under her eyes, Seb's gaze softened. She must have stayed up all night in the living room for him.

After watching her for a moment, Seb gently picked her up and carried her upstairs.

As he reached the stairs, Dana's voice came from behind. "Mr. Smith..."

Seb turned and whispered, "Keep it down, don't wake her."

Dana then noticed Sharon in Seb's arms and swallowed her words, nodding to Seb before heading to the kitchen.

Seb carried Sharon to the bedroom, tucked her in, and quietly left the room.

Back downstairs, Dana spoke up. "Mr. Smith, Ms. Roach stayed up all night for you. I tried to get her to rest, but she insisted on staying. She's very worried about you."
