Chapter 67 Preparing to Introduce a Girlfriend to Uncle
Without a moment's hesitation, Alex agreed the instant Sharon finished speaking.
For him, the most important thing now was to get Sharon back by his side; everything else could be dealt with later.
"Sharon, don't worry, I promise I won't mess around with you again." Alex had made this kind of meaningless promise many times before, and Sharon didn't take it seriously.
Since she dared to go back, she would definitely find a way to protect herself. If Alex forced her, she wouldn't let him off easily.
She said, "Alright, I'm going back. You take care on the road."
For the next two days, she rested at home while organizing her things.
On the day she was preparing to move, Sophie suddenly came to see her.
Seeing that Sharon was okay, Sophie finally sighed in relief. But then, her brow furrowed. "Sharon, how could you not mention something as huge as getting kidnapped??!"
Noticing her disapproving look, Sharon explained, "I thought you were in a bad mood lately, and since I was fine, I didn't tell you."
Hearing this, Sophie couldn't help but glare at Sharon. "Such a big thing, and you kept it to yourself. Do you even consider me a friend? If it weren't for someone I know working at the police station, I might still be in the dark!"
"I'm sorry, I know I was wrong. I promise I won't hide anything from you next time."
"Do you still think there will be a next time?"
"No, I mean I'll inform you right away if anything big happens in the future."
Seeing Sharon's sincere expression, Sophie snorted coldly, "That's more like it. But are you really okay?"
"Yeah, just a minor injury, nothing serious."
"That's good."
After saying that, Sophie's gaze fell on the large bags Sharon had packed in the living room, and her brow furrowed instantly. "Are you moving?"
"Yes." Sharon nodded and told Sophie about her plan to move back to the villa.
Hearing this, Sophie's face turned extremely ugly. "Sharon, are you crazy? Alex cheated on you and got that woman pregnant, and you still want to go back? Are you out of your mind?"
Sharon could understand Sophie's disbelief.
After all, if someone had told her ten days ago that she would move back to Alex's villa, she would have thought that person was crazy too.
Sharon said, "Sophie, I have reasons that I have to move back, but I can't tell you what they are right now."
That incident involved too many people. If she wanted to investigate, it would affect many people's interests, and there might be unexpected dangers, so the fewer people who knew, the better.
Sophie said, "What could possibly make you want to go back to that douchebag? Don't tell me you still have feelings for him!"
Sharon was on the brink of denial when a flash of gray clothing by the door caught her eye, prompting her to change her response. "Indeed, I still have feelings for him. If he is willing to completely cut ties with that woman, I..."
"Enough!" Sophie interrupted her coldly. "I thought you could handle relationships well, but I was wrong about you. If you want to go back and suffer, I can't stop you. But I'm telling you, that douchebag will never change!"
"The douchebag Ms. Lee is referring to, is it me?" Alex's cold voice came from the door, and his gaze at Sophie was equally icy.
Sophie sneered, "I didn't expect you to be so self-aware. Yes, I'm talking about you, you douchebag!"
Alex's face changed, and his aura became extremely cold.
Sharon looked at him and said calmly, "Since you're here, help me carry my things downstairs."
Seeing Sharon's attitude toward Alex was no longer as cold and distant as before, anger flashed in Sophie's eyes.
"Sharon, I hope you won't regret today's decision in the future!" With that, Sophie turned and left.
She feared that if she stayed any longer, she would be infuriated.
Before Sharon moved out, she was doing fine. How had she turned into someone so lovesick in less than a month?
Fuming, she got back into her car. After calming down, Sophie was about to start the car and leave when she sensed something was off.
Earlier, when she asked Sharon if she still had feelings for Alex, she had seemed hesitant.
Moreover, when she looked at Alex, there was no trace of love or tenderness in her eyes, only indifference.
Could it be that she had some compelling reason to move back?
Thinking of this, Sophie decided to have a proper talk with Sharon sometime later.
Upstairs, after Sophie left, Alex said in a deep voice, " Sophie always badmouths me and tries to ruin our relationship. You should see her less often."
Sharon frowned and said coldly, "She's my friend, and it's not your place to judge. Besides, she hasn't done anything wrong, has she? ?"
Noticing that Sharon was defending Sophie, anger flashed in Alex's eyes.
In Sharon's eyes, he, her husband, was less important than Sophie, her friend.
But realizing that he was indeed in the wrong, Alex couldn't be so self-righteous.
Seeing Sharon turn away to continue packing, ignoring him, Alex hesitated for a moment but eventually walked over to her.
"Sharon, I'm sorry. I was too emotional just now. I shouldn't have badmouthed your friend."
Sharon's previously cold expression softened a bit, and she nodded. "Sophie is my best friend. I hope you can respect her."
After today's incident, Alex deeply resented Sophie. But he hadn't yet won Sharon back completely. It wasn't worth it to clash with her over Sophie.
Once she fully forgave him, he would find a way to gradually distance her from Sophie.
He said, "Alright, I'll listen to you."
Sharon lowered her eyes, her gaze calm.
Alex added, "By the way, honey, we need to hurry. Grandpa and Grandma have invited us to the Smith Mansion for dinner tonight."
Sharon looked puzzled. Sandra and Tyler liked peace and quiet. Apart from the monthly family dinner, they rarely invited the younger generation to the Smith Mansion.
She asked, "Why did they suddenly invite us over?"
Alex smiled. "Grandma is setting up a date for Uncle Seb. She's worried the girl might be shy alone, and since you're about the same age, she wants you to join for dinner. I guess I'm benefiting from your presence."
Sharon was momentarily stunned, almost dropping the photo frame in her hand.
It took her several seconds to smile. "That's good. The girl must be carefully selected."
"Of course. She's the daughter of the owner of BrightWave Technologies, just returned from studying abroad."
The owner of BrightWave Technologies, Mr. Walker, had initially made his fortune in real estate.
A few years ago, he shifted all his company's resources to the new energy vehicle industry, achieving great success two years later. Now, his net worth was in the tens of billions dollars.
His daughter and Seb were indeed a good match. No wonder Sandra and Tyler arranged a meeting as soon as she returned.
Seeing no trace of sadness on Sharon's face, Alex lowered his eyes, deep in thought.
She might really have never had any feelings for Seb.
