Chapter 195 You'd Better Not Touch Her
Sharon couldn't be bothered with Alex and walked right past him.
Out of nowhere, Alex chased her to her car. "Sharon, just take the flowers and breakfast, and I'll leave."
Sharon frowned, barely holding back a curse.
Just as she was about to speak, an angry voice cut in.
"Alex, stay away from Sharon!"
They both turned to see Leo. Alex looked surprised, then smiled.
"Leo, what are you doing here?"
Leo stared at him. "You and Sharon are divorced. Stay away from her, or you'll regret it!"
Alex's smile faded, and his tone turned icy. "What happens between Sharon and me is none of your business. I only call you 'brother' because of Sharon. Don't overstep."
Leo's face darkened.
Before Leo could respond, Sharon's car engine roared to life, and she drove off.
Leo and Alex stood there, glaring at each other.
Alex sneered and walked away.
Leo watched him leave, eyes narrowing.
At nine in the morning, Alex's car pulled up in front of the Vital Records Office.
After waiting over ten minutes without seeing Ava, he lost patience and called her.
"When are you getting here? Even if you don't come today, I have ways to make you agree to the divorce!"
There was a brief silence before Ava's voice came through. "I won't divorce you."
"Ava, while I'm still willing to talk, don't make me angry."
"I met with Mr. Carter last night. He agreed to work with your company. Are you sure you still want a divorce?"
Ava was talking about Arthur Carter, a former client of the Smith Group, whom she had managed as a secretary.
Since taking over David's company, Alex had been trying to work with Arthur, but Arthur had refused to meet him.
If he could collaborate with Arthur, the company's problems would be solved.
Alex thought, 'But could Ava, just a secretary, really change Arthur's mind?'
"Ava, are you making this up to avoid the divorce?"
Ava knew Alex wouldn't easily believe her, so she calmly said, "Mr. Carter has already signed. I've got the contract. If you don't believe me, come and see for yourself."
With that, Ava hung up.
After a moment, Alex started his car.
'If Ava's lying, she'll regret it,' Alex thought.
It took Alex half an hour to reach Ava's house.
As soon as he entered the living room, Ava handed him a document.
Alex read it, his cold expression turning to disbelief and then to joy.
Looking at Ava, his gaze softened. "Ava, how did you do it?"
"I'm willing to help you as long as we don't get divorced. If you still want a divorce..."
Before Ava could finish, Alex interrupted, "No divorce. I was just angry. I won't mention it again!"
Ava didn't believe him.
She knew him too well. Alex would do anything to get what he wanted. He might avoid divorce now for a contract, but he could ditch her for something else later.
But that didn't matter. All she wanted was to stay by Alex's side.
"When I was negotiating with Mr. Carter, there was an accident, and I saved his life. He promised me a favor."
Alex frowned. "Why didn't you tell me this earlier?"
If Ava had told him earlier, he wouldn't have had to sign with other companies under the name of Silvercrest Group.
Ava didn't want to continue this topic and looked at him. "Did you go to see Sharon this morning?"
"How did you know?"
Meeting Alex's questioning gaze, Ava smiled self-deprecatingly. "A friend of mine lives nearby and saw you. She sent me a photo. You started pursuing Sharon before we even divorced?"
Alex unconsciously touched his nose, regretting his visit to Sharon that morning, especially since he didn't know Ava could persuade Arthur to sign.
"Ava, let's not dwell on the past. You've helped me through this crisis, and I'll treat you and the child well. Our family is the most important thing."
Ava lowered her gaze and didn't continue the topic.
After spending some time with her, Alex left eagerly with the contract.
Ava walked to the window and watched him drive away, her eyes indifferent.
Back in the living room, Ava called Grace.
"Thanks for the help with the contract."
"No need to thank me. Just do as I say in the future."
After hanging up, Grace was about to put down her phone when a video call popped up.
Her face turned extremely grim, but she gritted her teeth and answered.
"Why didn't you send today's video?"
On the other end, Jesse, wearing a white coat, sat behind his office desk. He smiled, but it felt chilling.
Grace took a deep breath to steady herself. "Jesse, you must be tired of watching me every day."
Jesse raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to continue.
"I know a woman who is your type."
Jesse chuckled, his eyes darkening. "Grace, you'd better not play any tricks. I can send your medical records to Seb's inbox anytime."
Grace's face turned pale. It took her several seconds to speak. "I'll send you her photo. Take a look first."
After ending the video call, Grace quickly sent Jesse the photo she had someone secretly take.
The next second, the video call popped up again.
"What's her name?"
Though Jesse's face was tense, Grace could see the suppressed excitement in his eyes.
Grace smirked. "I knew you'd be interested in her. You—"
Jesse coldly interrupted her. "Just tell me her name."
"Sharon."
Jesse's pupils contracted sharply, then he burst into laughter, his face showing undisguised excitement and joy.
Grace frowned. She had never seen Jesse like this.
But Jesse's interest in Sharon was good news for her.
"If you like, I can have someone drug her and make some videos you would enjoy."
As soon as she finished speaking, Grace was frightened by Jesse's icy gaze. His grip on the phone turned white.
"What's wrong? Did I say something wrong?"
"You lay a finger on her, and you'll be sorry!"
