Chapter 318 He is Not Even Part of the Smith Family

Alex's eyes narrowed with irritation. "Dad, did you even hear Grandpa's warning? Or is Uncle Seb more important to you than me?"

"I just wanted to ask the doctor about Seb's chances of getting his memory back," David explained, trying to stay calm. "No matter what, Seb is still your uncle, you..."

"He's not even part of the Smith family!" A sharp voice cut through the room, and both David and Alex whipped their heads around.

David's gaze turned icy as Clara walked in. "What nonsense are you talking about? Don't stir up more trouble."

Clara scoffed and plopped down across from them. "Alex, remember when I told you Seb has no right to compete with you for the Smith Group?"

Alex nodded. "Yeah, I remember. But what do you mean Uncle Seb isn't part of the Smith family?"

As far as he could remember, Seb had always been with the Smiths. How could he not be part of the family?

David's face twisted with anger. "Don't listen to your mother's nonsense. I think she's lost it after living abroad for so long. How could I not know if Seb is my real brother?"

Clara's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Oh really? Don't forget, your parents were abroad for years. They came back with Seb, saying he was born overseas. Did you see Sandra pregnant? No, you just believed whatever they told you."

David was momentarily stunned, then frowned. "If Seb isn't part of the Smith family, do you think Tyler and Sandra, with their personalities, would have brought him back and raised him as their own son?"

Clara's voice was firm. "Normally, no. But what if Seb's real parents saved their lives?"

Seeing Clara's confident look, David started to feel uncertain. He had never actually seen Sandra pregnant.

And when they brought Seb back, there were rumors. Later, Sandra and Tyler took Seb for a paternity test, which shut everyone up.

At least, no one dared to openly say Seb wasn't part of the Smith family anymore.

Seb started his own business and founded Silvercrest Group, becoming a big shot in Metropolis. No one questioned his identity after that.

David demanded, "What's really going on? Spill it!"

Clara glanced at him. "Weren't you just doubting me? Why believe me now?"

David's eyes flashed with anger. "Are you going to explain or not? If not, then shut up and never bring it up again!"

Clara pursed her lips. "I overheard Tyler and Sandra arguing once. When they were abroad, Seb's parents saved their lives. Seb was the only one who survived, so they brought him back and raised him as their own son."

Clara added, "Who knew they'd actually grow to love him, treat him like their own, and plan to hand over the Smith Group to him. It's ridiculous!"

As Clara finished, the room fell silent.

David was in disbelief, but deep down, he felt it might be true.

Seb had always been distant, unlike the scheming members of the Smith family. He was aloof and didn't like interacting with others.

Alex's face was dark. Tyler would rather hand over the Smith Group to an outsider than to him!

After a few minutes, David finally broke the silence. "Sandra's gone, and Seb's about to hand over the Smith Group to Alex. Just keep this to yourself; bringing it up won't help anyone."

Clara sneered. "I don't care about this, but if you keep feeling sorry for Seb, don't expect Alex to respect you. And don't think Seb will care about you because you're soft on him!"

David stayed quiet for a long moment before letting out a deep sigh. "Got it."

At 8 PM sharp, Seb walked into the Smith Mansion.

The room's atmosphere turned icy the moment he arrived.

Besides Tyler and David's family, Randy was there too.

Tyler looked at him with a blank expression. "Sit down. On the table is the transfer agreement for the Smith Group shares. Sign it, and I'll let you see Dr. Mason right away."

Seb walked over, picked up the document, and calmly read through it.

He didn't rush to sign. Instead, he looked up at Tyler. "Isn't this agreement a bit one-sided? The Smith Group has made a lot of money through its partnership with Silvercrest Group. I can let Alex manage the Smith Group, but give him my shares for free? Do you think I'm an idiot?"

The tension in the room skyrocketed, with Seb radiating a chilling vibe.

His gaze at Tyler was ice-cold.

Tyler's grip on his cane tightened, veins bulging, his face red with anger. "If you don't transfer all the shares to Alex, who knows if you'll change your mind later!"

Seb's voice was cold. "I'll give the shares, but he has to buy them at market price. I don't work for free."

Alex's face turned pale. He'd been abroad for years and couldn't afford to buy the Smith Group shares.

He looked at Tyler, knowing only Tyler had the means to buy the shares from Seb.

But Tyler stayed silent, his face stern. He could buy the shares, but it would drain most of his savings, and he wasn't willing to spend that money.

Tyler snorted. "I'm not giving you a penny. You can trade your shares for Dr. Mason's help to get your memory back, or you can keep your shares and never see Dr. Mason again!"

Randy finally couldn't hold back. "Grandpa, aren't you being too harsh on Uncle Seb? Silvercrest Group has helped the Smith Group so much over the years, and you know it. Now you're kicking him when he's down. Is that fair to Uncle Seb?"

Randy added, "And five years ago, you had Uncle Seb hypnotized without his consent. Now you're using Dr. Mason to threaten him. Is Uncle Seb your son or your enemy?"

Five years ago, Tyler had secretly arranged for Seb to be hypnotized, keeping it from Randy. Otherwise, Randy would have stopped it.

Tyler was furious at Randy's words. How dare he say he was kicking Seb when he was down?

"Shut up!" Tyler shouted, his face red with anger. "You know nothing. This has nothing to do with you tonight! Get out now!"

Randy raised an eyebrow. "I'm part of the Smith family too. Why can't I be here?"

Tyler's face turned livid. If it weren't for the timing, he would've used his cane to drive Randy out.

Alex glared at Randy. "Since you're so concerned about Uncle Seb, why don't you transfer your shares to me on his behalf?"
