Chapter 93 Do You Know Me Well?
Sharon nodded. "Yeah, I know."
Victor was about to say something when Seb suddenly looked up at Sharon, his eyes cold.
"Do you really know me?"
Victor was taken aback, frowning at Seb, not understanding why he was making things awkward for Sharon.
Sharon bit her lower lip and looked down. "No, thank you for tonight, Uncle Seb. It's late, so I'll be heading out. You all have fun."
Seb sneered. "I help you, and all I get is a thank you?"
Sharon paused and turned to face Seb. "So, Uncle Seb, how do you want me to thank you?"
Seb glanced at a woman pouring wine nearby. "Hey, you, show her how to properly thank someone for saving her life."
Victor frowned, thinking Seb was being too harsh, making a woman from the club teach Sharon how to repay a favor.
The woman smiled and looked up at him. "Mr. Smith, if you saved me, I'd definitely offer myself to you."
Seb's expression didn't change, making it unclear if he was satisfied with the answer.
Victor finally spoke up. "Seb, you're going too far."
Sharon hadn't done anything to Seb, so there was no need to humiliate her like this.
Seb looked at him coldly. "What, are you going to repay me for her?"
Victor was speechless.
Noticing Seb was acting out of character, Sharon said slowly, "Uncle Seb, you're drunk."
Seb turned to look at Sharon. In the dim light, her eyes were clear and stubborn.
His heart felt a sharp pang, and he unconsciously tightened his grip on the wine glass.
If Sharon had a gentler personality, he might resort to more forceful means to make her leave Alex.
But Seb knew Sharon wasn't one to back down. If he forced her to divorce Alex and be with him, it would only push her further away.
Suddenly, the sound of breaking glass rang out as Seb crushed the wine glass in his hand.
"Seb!"
"Mr. Smith!"
Victor and the woman beside Seb exclaimed simultaneously, their eyes filled with concern for Seb's bleeding hand.
Scarlet blood flowed from his palm, but Seb seemed unfazed, his cold eyes fixed on Sharon.
"Get out!"
Sharon's gaze lingered on his bleeding hand for a second before she turned and left.
Seb stared at her back, his aura growing colder.
Victor immediately called for a first aid kit and frowned at him. "It's Alex who offended you, not Sharon. Why are you making things difficult for her? Don't you care about your reputation?"
Seb remained silent, staring at the table in front of him, lost in thought.
Victor turned to Matthew for help in persuading Seb, but Matthew merely said lightly, "This is a Smith family matter. Why do you care so much?"
"What kind of family matter is this?"
Matthew didn't answer, his eyes filled with contemplation.
If Seb's feelings for Sharon were as he thought, the Smith family would likely be in turmoil for a while.
Matthew glanced at Seb, his eyes showing helplessness.
If Tyler and Sandra knew that after all these years of introducing Seb to women of high social standing, he hadn't taken a liking to any of them but instead had feelings for Sharon, they would be furious.
Of all people, Seb had to fall for Sharon, a married woman.
Just thinking about it gave him a headache.
After leaving the bar, Sharon drove back to the villa.
As soon as she entered the living room, she saw Alex sitting on the sofa, his face somewhat gloomy.
"Why are you back so late tonight?"
"I had something to take care of."
Hearing this, Alex didn't press further and nodded. "By the way, they found a kidney donor for Robert. If everything goes well, the surgery can be done in a month."
Sharon paused mid-step, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Really?"
Seeing Sharon's excited expression, Alex felt a pang of nostalgia, like they were back to when they first started dating. "Yeah."
"That's great, thank you!"
Sharon's gratitude was genuine. Without a matching kidney donor, Robert wouldn't have lasted much longer.
"We're married; it's what I should do."
Sharon pressed her lips together, not saying anything. In her mind, they weren't really a couple anymore, just two strangers bound by a piece of paper.
"Anyway, thank you very much."
Seeing the distant look in Sharon's eyes, Alex felt a wave of helplessness. No matter what, it seemed he could never reach her heart again.
Alex was about to speak when his phone rang.
Seeing it was Joseph, Alex said to Sharon, "I have some work to handle. It's late, you should rest. Good night."
With that, Alex got up with his phone, answering it as he walked to the study.
"Mr. Smith, Irvin has arrived in Metropolis."
Alex paused, his eyes flashing coldly. "I know. Follow the plan as I told you."
"Got it."
Hanging up the phone, Alex's lips curled into a cold smile.
After that unpleasant encounter at the bar, Sharon hadn't seen Seb in the following days.
On Friday night, after wrapping up a phase of their experiment, Sharon and Ashley stayed in the lab until after eleven.
As they chatted and walked to the elevator, Ashley sighed. "I used to run into Mr. Smith occasionally when I got off work, but I haven't seen him at all lately. Doing experiments every day is so tedious; I need a hottie to brighten my day."
Sharon couldn't help but smile just as the elevator doors opened.
Seeing Seb in a suit inside the elevator, she was momentarily stunned.
Ashley had a knack for speaking things into existence.
Seeing Seb, Ashley's eyes flashed with surprise and then lit up with excitement.
Ashley thought, ‘God is good! I said I wanted to see a hottie, and then Seb showed up.’
If only she could win five million dollars in the lottery by saying she wanted money!
The two of them entered the elevator and greeted Seb. Ashley tugged on Sharon's sleeve, her eyes filled with excitement.
Sharon's lips curved slightly as she lowered her eyes without speaking.
Seb must have been very busy these past few days. When she saw him just now, she noticed the dark circles under his eyes and the exhaustion on his face.
The elevator was silent except for the sound of it descending.
Soon, they reached the basement level.
Seb was the first to step out, with Sharon and Ashley following behind.
Suddenly, Seb said in a deep voice, "Don't work so late. It's not safe for two girls."
Hearing this, Ashley looked at him with even more admiration. Seb was such a handsome boss and encouraged his employees not to work overtime, how rare!
Ashley nodded. "Mr. Smith, today was just an exception. We usually leave on time."
Seb didn't say anything more and walked towards his car parked nearby.
At that moment, a man wearing a hat and mask suddenly appeared and quickly ran towards Seb.
Seeing the knife glinting in the man's hand, Sharon's face changed. Her body reacted instinctively as she rushed forward and pushed Seb away.
"Watch out!"
Sharon felt a sharp pain in her abdomen, and then everything went black as she lost consciousness.
