Chapter 44 Doesn't Even Want to Look at Him Again

"Impossible, I won't apologize to her!" Irene said.

Sophie looked at Irene, seeing her agitated expression filled with resistance and anger, and a smile appeared on her lips. "Ms. Robinson, if you don't want to apologize, then see you in court. Slandering others, if I remember correctly, sharing over five thousand times is a criminal offense, right?"

Irene's prior arrogance appeared to have been doused with a bucket of cold water, leaving her face pale.

If she went to jail, her life would be ruined.

Ted's face darkened, but he quickly returned to his usual gentle demeanor. "Irene, just apologize to Sharon. After all, you're older than her, so you should be more accommodating."

Sophie frowned, thinking Ted's words were quite unpleasant, making it seem like they were being unreasonable today.

However, before she could speak, Sharon spoke up, "Mr. Robinson, it's not about me being younger and her needing to accommodate. It's about her making a mistake and needing to apologize. I hope you won't portray her as the victim here."

Ted was surprised, not expecting the usually gentle Sharon to be so direct. "You are right. It's my fault for not paying attention."

Sharon's expression was indifferent. Ted wasn't negligent; he was deliberately avoiding the main issue.

Irene bit her lower lip and reluctantly apologized to Sharon, "Sharon, it was my fault before. I'm sorry."

Seeing her pale face and dissatisfied look, Sharon ignored her and turned to Sophie. "Sophie, did you hear someone talking just now?"

Sophie played along and shook her head. "No, but I think I heard a mosquito buzzing."

Seeing their coordinated act, Irene was so angry she wanted to flip the ward , but under Ted's cold gaze, she could only suppress her dissatisfaction and raise her voice to apologize, "Sharon, I'm sorry. I was wrong before. I hope you can forgive me!"

This time, Sharon finally turned to look at Irene, smiling.

That smile, in Irene's eyes, was piercing.

"Ms. Robinson, what exactly did you do wrong? If you don't make it clear, how will I know?" Sharon asked.

"You!" Irene raised her hand, about to curse, but Ted suddenly spoke coldly, "Irene!"

Under his cold gaze, Irene had no choice but to speak slowly, "I shouldn't have made Eugene kneel and apologize to you on purpose, nor should I have filmed it and posted it online to ruin your reputation. And when I fell down the stairs that day, I shouldn't have dragged you down. Are you satisfied?"

She spoke loudly, her voice choked with resentment.

Sharon's expression was indifferent, and she only nodded after Irene finished. "Okay, I accept your apology."

After leaving the ward and returning to the car, Sophie couldn't help but laugh. " She apologized just now. If only I could have recorded her  expression on my phone, it would be worth watching repeatedly."

Sharon looked at her with amusement. "Alright, enough about that. Did you record it?"

Sophie nodded. "I did. I'll send it to you right away."

After receiving the recording, Sharon saved it on her phone. If Irene dared to bother her again, she would expose the recording to let everyone know what kind of person Irene was.

In the ward, since Sharon and Sophie left, it had become extremely quiet.

Ted's smile had long turned cold, and his gaze at Irene was chilling.

"Dad." Irene's words were cut off by a slap from Ted.

"Idiot!" he shouted.

Irene couldn't even handle Sharon, and her scheming was so clumsy that she got caught.

Irene covered her face, filled with fear and dread. "Dad, I'm sorry."

"If you can't outsmart others, then stay put and don't act foolishly again. Otherwise, don't blame me for severing our relationship." With that, Ted stormed out in anger.

The next two days were the weekend, so Sharon rested at home for two days and went to work on Monday.

Her hand was almost healed, and she was ready to return to the lab to continue her previous experiments.

As soon as she entered the company, Susan hurriedly came to find her. "Sharon, get ready to go on a business trip to Maple Valley with Mr. Smith."

Sharon was a bit surprised, looking puzzled. "Mr. Smith, Seb?"

Susan nodded. "Yes, Mr. Smith found a herbal company in Maple Valley that produces the herbs needed for your asthma medication research. You need to go with him for an on-site inspection to check the utilization rate of the effective ingredients."

Sharon frowned. "Doesn't the Silvercrest Group have a professional testing team for this?"

" They seem to be on a business trip to another city. Since you're researching this area, the company decided to send you instead. Prepare tonight; Mr. Smith will pick you up at 7 a.m. tomorrow at your place."

Susan seemed very busy and hurried off to the meeting room after giving the instructions.

Sharon got up, washed, and, seeing the time, dragged her suitcase downstairs in the next morning.

As she opened the door, she saw Alex standing at the door, holding breakfast in one hand and raising the other to knock.

Seeing him, Sharon frowned, her eyes showing impatience.

"Sharon, where are you going?" he asked.

Sharon wasn't planning to move to avoid him, was she?

"None of your business. Move," Sharon said.

Alex didn't move, his gaze fixed on her cold face. "Sharon, no matter where you move, as long as you're in Metropolis, I can find you, so moving is pointless."

Sharon sneered, "Don't worry, I have no intention of avoiding you."

Alex was the one who cheated, and if anyone should feel guilty, it should be him. She had no reason to avoid him.

He asked, "If you're not moving, then where are you going with the suitcase?"

Sharon checked the time, not wanting to waste any more time with him, and said coldly, "On a business trip. I'm running late. Move."

Hearing her explanation, Alex sighed in relief. "Where are you going on a business trip, and for how many days?"

Sharon pushed him aside, impatiently saying, "Instead of bothering me, you should spend more time with your lover, so she doesn't get bored and come to me looking for trouble."

Alex hadn't expected her to push him, causing him to stagger, nearly dropping the breakfast.

He said, "Sharon, I brought you your favorite sandwich from college."

Sharon didn't even look back, hurrying towards the elevator.

Alex looked down at the sandwich in his hand, a bitter smile forming on his lips.

Back in college, when he waited for Sharon outside her dorm, he would always bring her this sandwich. Her first glance was always at the sandwich in his hand.

Later, out of jealousy, he would hide the sandwich behind his back. After a while, she would directly hug him and snatch the sandwich away. But now, Sharon didn't even want to look at him.

Alex walked over to her, still holding out the sandwich. "Sharon, take it."

Sharon ignored him, treating him like he was invisible.

Alex's eyes filled with more bitterness, but he said nothing, silently following her into the elevator.

When the elevator reached the first floor and the doors opened, his brows suddenly furrowed. "Paul, what are you doing here?"
