Chapter 133 He Is Not Such a Selfless Person

After watching Sharon walk into the neighborhood, Seb took off.

On his way back to work, he thought about how to get Alex and Sharon to divorce smoothly.

Alex had injured his legs saving Sharon and might use that to guilt her into staying.

Thinking about it, Seb's expression turned cold.

Meanwhile, in David's study:

"Make sure that driver keeps quiet. If this gets traced back to me, you're done!"

A man in his thirties stood in front of the desk, head down.

"Mr. Smith, don't worry. He doesn't have long to live anyway. For his family's sake, he'll stay quiet."

David nodded, eyes full of cunning.

"Alright, make sure his family gets money, no evidence left."

"Yes, sir!"

After his subordinate left, David leaned back in his chair, a cold smile on his lips.

That evening, Sharon arrived at the hospital with a thermos, only to hear Alex's angry roar from inside.

"Get out, all of you! I don't believe it. I can't be crippled. Get out!"

The door opened, and Clara and Ava came out with red eyes.

Seeing Sharon, a flash of hatred appeared in Ava's eyes.

"Sharon, you've made Alex unable to stand. Are you happy now?"

Sharon found it odd and thought, 'Ava, a mistress, where does she get the right to question me?'

But Sharon didn't want to argue in the hospital hallway, so she ignored Ava and walked into the room.

As soon as she stepped in, a water cup shattered at her feet.

"I said get out! I don't want to see anyone right now!"

Seeing it was Sharon, Alex's angry expression froze for a moment. Then he turned away, saying coldly, "I don't want to see you either. Can you leave me alone?"

Sharon pressed her lips together, avoided the shards, and sat by the bedside.

"I know it's hard to accept this right now. You might even regret saving me, but there's no turning back. Once your injuries heal a bit, we can go abroad to see if there's any cure."

Alex let out a bitter laugh, looking at her slowly. "Sharon, I've never regretted saving you. You're more important to me than my legs. I'm even grateful I could save you that day. But I need time to accept that I might never stand again."

Sharon lowered her gaze, her hand clenching at her side, a struggle in her eyes.

Alex's eyes flickered, and he spoke with a hint of self-pity, "You already despise me and want a divorce. Now that I'm crippled, I have no right to keep you. I don't want to burden you. Once I recover a bit, we'll go through the divorce."

Sharon was silent for a moment before she spoke, "Alright."

Hearing her response, a flash of disbelief crossed Alex's eyes, and his hand under the blanket gripped the bedsheet.

Alex hadn't expected that even after crippling his legs for Sharon, she still wanted a divorce!

"The document you sent me before, can you not send it to the police, considering I saved you?"

Seeing Sharon look up at him, Alex hesitated but continued, "I know my dad did terrible things to the Wright family, but he's still my father. I can't watch him go to jail."

Sharon opened the thermos and poured a bowl of soup for Alex.

"Drink the soup first. I'll consider it."

"Sharon, my dad said if you don't hand over the evidence to the police, you can ask for any compensation you want."

Sharon placed the bowl on the table and looked at Alex, her eyes flashing with an emotion he couldn't read.

"I said I'll consider it. Take care of yourself. I'll see you tomorrow."

After Sharon left, Alex called David, sounding irritated. "She still didn't agree."

David sneered, "I told you your plan wouldn't work, but you didn't believe me. Satisfied now?"

David had initially planned to kill Sharon directly, but Alex refused. He wanted to stage a scene, pretending he crippled his legs to save Sharon. This way, he could soften Sharon's heart to stay with him and use this to persuade her to destroy the evidence. But it turned out to be a futile effort.

"I didn't expect her to be so heartless. Even after I crippled my legs, she still won't relent. She wants a divorce and won't destroy the evidence."

Alex's face was filled with anger. He couldn't understand why Sharon's reaction was completely different from what he had anticipated.

"It's because you're too indecisive. I've already had someone keep an eye on her. If she really hands over the evidence to the police, I'll make sure she's gone for good!"

Alex took a deep breath, a flash of ruthlessness in his eyes. If that evidence reached the police, not only would David go to jail, but he would also be affected. Since Sharon was so heartless and ungrateful, he had to think of himself.

"Alright!"

After leaving the hospital, Sharon got into her car and dialed a number.

"Mr. Hill, how's the investigation going?"

A slightly hoarse voice came from the other end, "Ms. Wright, the driver has a terminal illness and won't live more than three months. Yesterday, his mother took his kids and left Metropolis. Only his wife stays in Metropolis. I also found out that their rent is due next month, but his wife hasn't renewed it, as if planning to leave once his case is settled."

A flash of contemplation crossed Sharon's eyes, and she spoke, "It's not surprising. After all, their expenses depended on him. Now that they have no income, returning to their hometown is normal. The main thing is to check if there's been any large income recently."

"This might take some time. If someone is behind this, they likely wouldn't use a bank transfer but cash."

"Yes, I suspect this is related to Alex and David. Also, check if they've had any unusual expenses recently."

Sharon had just used the evidence to threaten Alex for a divorce, and then, out of nowhere, a drunk driver hit her. And guess what? Alex showed up right on cue. The most crucial point was that after Alex became paralyzed, he didn't keep her by his side with his sacrifice but suddenly agreed to the divorce. Alex wasn't someone who would selflessly sacrifice like that. So in the hospital room, Sharon agreed to the divorce, going along with Alex's words. If this was related to Alex, he would soon reveal his intentions.

"Alright, I'll notify you as soon as I have any news."

After hanging up, Sharon's grip on her phone tightened slightly. Besides the car accident, there was also the evidence. She had asked Brian, and he said he didn't send it to Sophie. So who was helping her behind the scenes?

'Could it be Seb?' Sharon wondered.
