Chapter 52 Is Seb Plotting Against Her?
Hearing this, Alex let out a massive sigh of relief. It was fine that Sharon was in the dark about that incident.
"Sharon, I blocked her a long time ago. She contacted me using another number, but I hung up right away and didn't agree to have dinner with her." he looked at Sharon with a sorrowful expression, as if he had been greatly wronged.
If she didn't know about what he did with Ava, she might have actually believed him.
However, she couldn't reveal that she had been secretly gathering evidence of his infidelity just yet.
Sharon lowered her gaze and spoke against her will, "Maybe I misunderstood you, I'm sorry."
Seeing her expression soften, Alex said gently, "Don't worry, I promised you I wouldn't have any contact with her, and I won't break my word."
Sharon felt so disgusted by his words that she almost wanted to vomit. Alex could now lie to her without batting an eyelash.
She couldn't understand how the sincere and passionate Alex from the past had turned into this.
She asked, "Well, what brings you here today?"
Alex said, "I just wanted to ask how your business trip went."
Sharon frowned, thinking he had come all this way just to ask such a trivial question.
She said, "It went smoothly. If there's nothing else, you can leave."
Alex sighed. "Sharon, I'm your husband. I don't want you to suffer in silence while I'm kept in the dark."
Sharon suddenly looked up, meeting his all-knowing gaze, her expression turning cold. "Did you spy on me?"
Alex said, "Not spying, protecting you."
Sharon let out a cold laugh. "When I was knocked out and almost assaulted, where were your so-called protectors?"
His so-called protection was just an excuse to confirm whether she and Seb had done anything disgusting.
His hand tightened at his side, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
If Sharon had listened to him and not gone on the business trip, she wouldn't have encountered such an incident. But he knew he couldn't say that out loud.
He said, "Sharon, my people arrived just as Uncle Seb had already saved you, so they didn't appear."
Sharon didn't believe a single word he said but didn't want to waste any more breath arguing with him. "Say whatever you want. I don't want to argue with you. Just leave."
She bypassed Alex and was about to open the door when he suddenly grabbed her wrist. "Sharon, there's one more thing I need to tell you."
"If you have something to say, just offer it. Don't touch me." Sharon shook off Alex's hand, her eyes filled with displeasure.
Although he was unhappy with her resistance, he held back, considering their strained relationship.
He said, "You should have noticed that Uncle Seb treats you differently than others. I hope you can keep your distance from him."
Sharon's expression was indifferent. "My interactions with him are strictly professional. I haven't noticed any special treatment. How do you expect me to keep my distance? Should I turn and walk away whenever I see him, or should I move to another city to ensure we never meet?"
"That's not what I mean."
"Then what do you mean?"
Sharon found it amusing, her tone full of sarcasm. "If you're so wary of him, you should say this to him. Telling me just shows you think I'm easy to bully."
Alex's face stiffened, a look of embarrassment and awkwardness flashing in his eyes. "Sharon."
"Enough. If you don't have the guts to tell Seb to stay away from me, stop saying these disgusting things to me," after saying that, Sharon didn't care about his reaction. She opened the door and went inside.
After closing the door, she took a deep breath to suppress the frustration rising inside her, then carried the groceries into the kitchen to start organizing.
The weekend flew by, and soon it was Monday.
Sharon returned to the R&D department to continue her previous experiments.
Irene was back at work too, but she was much more low-key than before. She pretended not to see Sharon and had none of her previous arrogance.
Whether Irene had genuinely learned her lesson and intended to keep a low profile or was just lying in wait to plot again, Sharon couldn't be sure.
The day passed quickly, and just before the end of the workday, Sharon received a call from Sophie inviting her to dinner that evening.
Since she had no other plans, she agreed.
When she arrived at the restaurant, she saw a boy around twenty years old with a youthful face sitting next to Sophie, and she couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
As soon as she sat down, Sophie eagerly introduced him, "Sharon, this is my new boyfriend. What do you think?"
When Sharon's gaze fell on him, he shyly lowered his head, his ears turning red.
Sharon asked, "Where did you find such an innocent guy? Is he still a college student?"
Sophie said, "You're right."
Sharon was speechless.
She had thought Sophie was joking when she said she wanted to find a college boy, but Sophie had acted quickly.
Giving Sophie a thumbs up, Sharon picked up the menu. "Let's order. I'm starving."
After ordering, while Sharon and Sophie chatted, the boy sat beside Sophie, peeling sunflower seeds for her, looking very cautious. Sharon even suspected he might have some dirt on Sophie, which was why he agreed to be her boyfriend.
Soon, the food arrived, and just as Sharon was about to dig in, a cold male voice suddenly came from the side. "Sophie, who is that man next to you?"
They all turned their heads simultaneously.
Not far away, Daniel was staring coldly at Sophie, his face full of impending storm.
If it weren't for Emily standing next to Daniel, he would look like a man who had just discovered his girlfriend was cheating.
Sophie's eyes were indifferent, but she smiled. "Mr. Thomas, it seems this has nothing to do with you, does it?"
Daniel's gaze grew colder as he took a step towards her, but Emily quickly grabbed his arm. "Daniel, tonight's dinner is important. Whatever misunderstanding you have with Ms. Lee can be addressed after dinner."
Daniel lowered his gaze, suppressing his anger, and turned to walk towards another private room, with Emily quickly following.
They couldn't hear what Emily said, but they saw Daniel turn and leave after she spoke.
Turning back, Sharon saw Sophie's indifferent expression and couldn't bring herself to offer any comforting words.
The dinner was somewhat silent, and after they finished eating, Sophie sent the boy to get the car.
Standing at the restaurant entrance, Sharon couldn't help but ask her, "Are you serious about this guy?"
Sophie couldn't help but laugh. "I was joking. He's my neighbor's kid, who grew up following me around. I meant to explain earlier, but I forgot."
After the boy brought the car around, she got in and waved to Sharon before leaving.
Sharon was about to get her car when she suddenly heard someone calling her from behind.
Turning around, she saw Paul and Seb walking towards her.
Seb seemed to have been drinking, his face a little flushed, the top two buttons of his white shirt undone, revealing a delicate collarbone. His suit jacket was casually draped over his arm, and his naturally noble demeanor drew attention to him.
Seeing him, Sharon suddenly remembered the nonsensical things Alex had said to her the other day.
Given Seb's status and looks, he could have women flocking to him with a mere hand wave. There was no way he'd be plotting against her.
Thinking this, Sharon couldn't help but laugh.
Under the lights, Seb was momentarily dazzled by her smile, his eyes narrowing slightly, a dangerous glint flashing deep within.
