Chapter 201 What Am I Afraid Of?

Leo picked up his phone and called Gilbert Hawkins, the R&D manager at Silvercrest Group's competitor. "Mr. Hawkins, I've got some inside info on Silvercrest's research. Interested?"

The next morning, as soon as Sharon got to work, Ashley started gushing about her dinner with Leo.

"Sharon, he's so gentle and handsome. After dinner, I like him even more!"

Seeing Ashley's blushed cheeks and dreamy look, Sharon couldn't help but smile.

"Take it easy. You've only had one meal together, and you're already this excited."

"You're right. I need to keep working on it and win him over soon!"

Sharon's smile grew. "Go for it, I'm cheering you on!"

Just then, Leo walked in with a smile.

"What are you guys talking about that's making you so happy?"

Ashley blushed again and shook her head. "Nothing, we're about to start the experiment."

She quickly put on her lab coat and left.

Now it was just Sharon and Leo in the office. Sharon pretended not to notice him, focused on her report.

Seeing Sharon's coldness, Leo's smile faded, and he quietly sat down at his computer.

Leo thought, 'It's okay, give it some time. Sharon won't be so cold to me soon.'

At noon, Sharon got a call from Sophie, inviting her to a jewelry auction.

Sharon found out it was the invitation Leo had given her earlier.

"You usually don't like these auctions. Why do you want to go this time?"

"There's a set of jewelry I've wanted for a long time. Please come with me!"

After thinking for a moment, Sharon agreed.

If she could afford the jewelry Sophie liked, she could buy it as a birthday gift. If not, she'd look for other options.

The auction was at 7 PM three days later, and time flew by.

Sophie messaged Sharon saying she was downstairs at the company even before Sharon got off work, showing how excited she was.

As soon as work ended, Sharon packed up and headed downstairs.

Outside Silvercrest Group, she saw Sophie leaning against her red Lamborghini, texting.

Sharon's phone vibrated.

She quickly walked over to Sophie, who looked up as she approached.

"You're quick! I thought I'd have to wait longer."

Sharon pulled out her phone and opened their chat. "Wanna see how many texts you sent to hurry me up?"

Seeing the screen full of her messages, Sophie laughed. "I know you well. Once you start an experiment, you get so focused. I was just reminding you."

"Did you need to remind me that many times?"

"Let's not talk about that. We need to hurry, or we'll be late. I brought you dinner to eat on the way."

Sharon and Sophie arrived at the auction just before 7 PM.

After parking, Sophie hurriedly pulled Sharon inside.

As soon as they reached the entrance, they bumped into Alex and Ava.

Sophie rolled her eyes. "Just my luck!"

Alex's face darkened, but he stayed quiet. Arguing with Sophie outside would only make him look bad.

Alex could hold back, but Ava couldn't. She snapped, "Sophie, watch your mouth!"

Sophie sneered. "I didn't mention your name. Why so eager to take the blame? Feeling guilty from being a mistress too long?"

"You!"

Ava wanted to curse Sophie, but Alex stopped her.

"Enough, the auction's about to start. Let's go inside."

If Ava started a fight with Sophie at the entrance, it would embarrass him.

Ava shook off Alex's hand and angrily said, "Alex, I'm your wife, but you always defend others. Are you still thinking about that bitch Sharon?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Sophie slapped her.

The slap echoed, leaving a handprint on Ava's face.

"You dare slap me!"

Ava raised her hand to hit Sophie, but Sophie grabbed her wrist and slapped her other cheek.

Sophie smiled. "Now it's even. Keep throwing around that word 'bitch,' and I won't let you off!"

Ava was furious and lunged at Sophie, but Sophie pushed her into Alex's arms.

"Alex, keep your bitch on a leash. If she keeps running her mouth, I've got plenty of ways to shut her up!"

"If you dare touch me, I won't let you off!" Ava's face twisted with anger.

"You think I won't? Do you think just because you're with Alex, you can do whatever you want in Metropolis?"

Someone like Ava could never fit into their social circle.

Moreover, Alex didn't seem to want her to fit in. Otherwise, he would have taken her to some formal events.

Ava's face turned pale and then red, looking extremely ugly.

Alex coldly looked at Sophie. "Sophie, don't get cocky because of your family. Our affairs are none of your business."

"You're overthinking it. I have no interest in you two, but if Ava can't watch her mouth, I'll have to teach her a lesson!"

Anger flashed in Alex's eyes, but he said nothing more and pulled Ava away.

Ava's venomous gaze swept over Sharon, as sharp as ice.

After entering the venue, Alex pulled Ava aside and warned her in a low voice, "Some here tonight are from Metropolis's high society. Stay by my side and behave, or if you embarrass me, I won't bring you out again!"

Ava had begged Alex for days to bring her to this auction.

Suppressing her anger and resentment, Ava forced a smile. "Don't worry, I won't embarrass you."

Lowering her eyes, a malicious glint flashed in Ava's eyes.

She hadn't planned to use her unborn baby to mess with Sharon just yet, but Sophie's words had completely enraged her. She was dead set on making Sophie and Sharon regret it!

Sophie and Sharon found seats inside, and Sophie suddenly pointed to two people in the front row and whispered, "Isn't that Seb and Grace?"

Sharon looked over and saw Seb talking to Grace.

The dim lighting blurred his features, but he was probably smiling.

At that moment, Seb seemed to sense her gaze and turned his head, locking eyes with Sharon.
