Chapter 228 Not Even a Glance
Feeling the air around Seb get icy, Paul followed his gaze and saw Sharon chatting it up with some dude. He got the picture real quick.
"Mr. Smith."
Before Paul could even finish, Seb was already making a beeline for Sharon.
Paul wanted to stop him but chickened out, so he just trailed behind.
Sharon was talking shop with Zachary when she suddenly felt a chill run down her spine, making her shiver.
Zachary, being the nice guy he was, asked, "Ms. Wright, you cold?"
Sharon nodded. "Yeah, maybe the AC's cranked up too high."
As she spoke, Zachary was already taking off his jacket to give to her when a slender hand stopped him.
Zachary looked up, surprised, and saw Seb glaring at him with eyes full of hostility. He was momentarily stunned.
Zachary's company did business with Silvercrest Group, so he'd seen Seb a few times.
But Zachary was just a department manager, so Seb probably didn't know him.
"Mr. Smith, hello."
Seb raised an eyebrow and looked at Zachary coldly. "You know me?"
"Yeah, I'm Zachary Cook, procurement manager at Voyage Company. We've met before."
"Sorry, doesn't ring a bell."
But now, Seb remembered the name Zachary.
Zachary smiled. "I'm just a department manager, so it's normal Mr. Smith doesn't know me."
Since Seb had stood beside her, Sharon's brows furrowed, wondering, 'What's Seb up to?'
After calling Seb yesterday morning and transferring money to him, she thought they were done.
'So, shouldn't Seb be pretending not to see me?' Sharon questioned herself.
Seb's lips curled as he looked at Zachary. "Mr. Cook, I need to talk to Sharon."
Zachary, aware of the drama between Seb and Sharon, instinctively looked at Sharon. "Ms. Wright, I'll go say hi to some friends. We can chat later."
Sharon nodded and smiled at Zachary. "Sure. It was nice talking with you, Mr. Cook."
Seeing Sharon smile so sweetly at Zachary, a smile she never gave him, Seb's eyes darkened instantly.
Sharon's smile was so beautiful that Zachary didn't dare look at her directly. He averted his gaze and said, "Alright."
After Zachary left, Sharon ignored Seb and turned to leave.
She had only taken two steps when Seb grabbed her wrist and pulled her to a nearby balcony.
There were hardly any people there. Sharon shook off Seb's hand and said coldly, "Mr. Smith, please behave."
"Behave?"
Seb chuckled, his eyes filled with danger as he looked at Sharon. "Sharon, you smiled so sweetly at Zachary just now. Did you reject me just to be with someone like him?"
Hearing this, Sharon's brows furrowed, and her face turned cold.
"Mr. Smith, I don't think belittling others makes you look better. Besides, Zachary is a good person."
Although they hadn't known each other long, Sharon could tell that Zachary was different from the men she had met before.
At first glance, Zachary seemed unremarkable, but after talking to him, one would find him humorous and charming.
Zachary was polite and considerate, making interactions with him very comfortable and pleasant.
Hearing Sharon praise Zachary, a cold light flashed in Seb's eyes.
"What's so good about him?"
Facing Seb's intense gaze, Sharon's expression remained indifferent. "How he's good doesn't seem to concern you."
Not wanting to waste more breath on Seb, Sharon turned to leave, but Seb blocked her path.
Sharon frowned and looked up, about to say something when Seb grabbed her waist.
"You..."
Before Sharon could finish, Seb's lips were on hers.
Sharon's eyes went wide with shock and disbelief.
'Seb must be out of his mind!' Sharon thought.
The balcony was just separated from the living room by a curtain, and someone could walk in any second.
If anyone saw them, she'd have no way to explain herself.
Sharon trembled all over and tried to push Seb away, but he didn't budge.
In her anger, she bit down hard on Seb's lip.
Seb let go of her in pain, wiped the blood from his lip, and was about to speak when Sharon slapped him.
The sound of the slap echoed, and a heavy silence fell between them.
A cold wind blew, and Sharon couldn't help but shiver.
Seb looked at her, his dark eyes brewing a storm, ready to burst at any moment.
Suppressing her fear, Sharon looked up at him and said slowly, "You asked what's good about Zachary? I'll tell you now. He's gentle and won't force me to do things I don't like. That's the difference between you two."
With that, Sharon turned and left.
Seb's gaze darkened as he stared at Sharon's back, but he didn't stop her.
Neither of them noticed a pair of cold eyes in the corner, watching everything that happened on the balcony.
Grace, holding a wine glass, had her beautiful features twisted in anger, almost crushing the glass in her hand.
She took a deep breath and looked at the nearby waiter. The waiter nodded slightly and walked towards Seb with a tray of drinks.
Seb returned to the hall, feeling irritated. Seeing the waiter with drinks passing by, he called him over and downed a glass in one gulp.
After finishing one glass, his irritation didn't lessen but intensified. He picked up another glass and continued drinking.
When Paul returned from delivering a gift, he saw Seb sitting on the sofa, drinking one glass after another.
He hurried over. "Mr. Smith, you can't drink anymore. There's an international meeting tomorrow morning."
Seb gave him a cold look, and Paul silently withdrew his hand.
"You should go back first."
Paul hesitated. "Mr. Smith, you've had a lot to drink. Maybe I should wait for you."
"Have you finished the report for tomorrow's meeting?"
Paul was speechless.
He didn't expect Seb to know he hadn't finished the report, and his face showed guilt.
"Let the driver take you back first. Pick me up around ten."
Hearing this, Paul nodded. "Alright, but Mr. Smith, don't drink too much. Ms. Wright probably doesn't like drunks."
After saying this, Paul noticed Seb's cold gaze and quickly left.
If he stayed any longer, Seb's gaze might kill him.
Seb looked down at the drink in his hand, a hint of bitterness in his eyes.
Sharon wouldn't care if he was drunk. She didn't care about him at all now.
Thinking about how Sharon had smiled at Zachary but wouldn't even spare him a glance, Seb's irritation grew.
He brought the glass to his lips and drank one glass after another.
Hiding in the shadows, Grace's face lit up with joy seeing Seb drink so much.
The more Seb drank, the better her odds of success became.
The more she thought about it, the more excited Grace became.
As Seb continued drinking, he suddenly felt something was off.
