Chapter 511 What Do You Plan to Do Next?
"I know."
Dana hesitated, watching Seb's blank expression. She cautiously asked, "So, Mr. Smith, what's the plan now?"
"Not sure yet. Gotta deal with the company's loose ends first."
Filing for bankruptcy doesn't mean it's all over; there's still a lot to handle afterward.
Seb had already come to terms with Silvercrest Group's bankruptcy. The next step was managing the fallout and suing Vertex Innovations Group for stealing Silvercrest's core data.
Seeing Seb looking tired but not defeated, Dana finally exhaled in relief.
As long as he hadn't lost hope, it was okay.
What she feared most was Seb falling into despair, overthinking, and eventually doing something drastic.
"Mr. Smith, you skipped dinner last night. You must be starving. How about I make you some breakfast? What do you feel like having?"
"It's been a while since I had your empanadas. I'd love some."
Dana smiled, "Sure thing, I'll get right on it."
She headed to the kitchen, her steps noticeably lighter.
Seb grabbed some clothes and went to his bedroom's bathroom for a shower. When he came out, Dana had just placed the empanadas on the table.
"Mr. Smith, the empanadas are ready. Want to eat now?"
"Yeah, let's do it."
Seb sat down at the dining table and had just taken a bite of an empanada when Paul arrived.
"Mr. Smith, I brought the documents and files for the bankruptcy application."
"Alright."
Seb stood up, "Let's go over this in the study."
Paul followed Seb into the study and handed him the documents.
"Mr. Smith, please check if anything's missing."
Seb flipped through the documents for a bit, then looked at Paul. "Everything looks good. You've done a great job. You've worked hard all these years by my side."
Paul felt a lump in his throat. "Mr. Smith, is there really no other way besides filing for bankruptcy?"
He had joined Silvercrest Group right after graduation and became Seb's assistant.
At first, he struggled to keep up with Seb's pace and was often scolded. The first year was filled with constant overtime, and he almost couldn't take it, but he persevered.
Over time, he and Seb became more in sync, and the work became smoother, with fewer breakdowns.
From initially feeling like an outsider to developing a deep attachment to the company, he had long decided to stay by Seb's side as his assistant for life. But he never expected Silvercrest Group to go bankrupt.
He had spent the previous night thinking that if he had paid more attention to the other shareholders, perhaps Raymond and Leo wouldn't have had the chance to conspire, and Silvercrest Group wouldn't have gone bankrupt.
But it was too late for regrets.
Seb looked at him and nodded. "Yeah, you should start looking for other job opportunities. If you need a recommendation, I can help, but I can't guarantee anything."
"Mr. Smith, are you not planning to make a comeback?"
After a moment of silence, Seb slowly said, "For now, I just want to handle the aftermath of Silvercrest Group's bankruptcy. I haven't thought about anything else."
"I won't look for a new job for the next three months. If you decide to make a comeback, I'll continue to be your assistant."
Seeing the seriousness in Paul's eyes, Seb was surprised.
He hadn't expected Paul to be willing to stay by his side as his assistant.
