Chapter 58 I'll Give You a Chance
"Even if you expose me, I don't have any money right now, and if this gets out, you'll go to jail too!" Eugene said.
The argument between them grew more intense, and Sharon finally realized that the person who kidnapped her was Elizabeth's father, Eugene.
However, she had only met Eugene once. How did he know where she lived and manage to sneak into her house?
She was certain that he couldn't have come up with this plan on his own; someone must be directing him from behind the scenes.
And that person was clearly Irene.
Gradually, the sounds of the argument outside ceased, followed by the sound of a car starting. Soon, everything fell silent.
Sharon unconsciously slowed her breathing, not daring to make a sound.
Suddenly, she felt the suitcase move, followed by the sound of its wheels rolling on the ground.
Realizing that Eugene was dragging her somewhere unknown, Sharon's mind was in a panic as she quickly thought about how to escape.
She quietly unzipped a small opening at the top of the suitcase, but it was pitch dark outside as well. She could only see Eugene holding a flashlight, illuminating a small path ahead.
She couldn't see her surroundings clearly and didn't dare to make a move, fearing it would lead to a quicker death.
After about ten minutes, Eugene brought her to an abandoned building and started dragging her upstairs.
With each step up the stairs, Sharon's body was jolted painfully, making her grit her teeth to avoid making any sound.
Finally, after what felt like an endless climb, Eugene stopped.
He put down the suitcase and dialed Irene's number. "I've kidnapped her. What do I do next?"
Irene, who had been waiting nearby, responded, "I'll be there soon."
When she arrived and saw the suitcase next to Eugene, she opened it immediately.
Seeing that he hadn't tied Sharon up, anger flashed across Irene's face. "What are you doing? If you don't tie her up, what if she escapes?"
"I was in too much of a hurry and forgot."
"Idiot!"
Irene cursed, but she knew it was too late to fix it now.
Seeing that Sharon was still unconscious, she sneered and slapped Sharon twice.
Sharon slowly opened her eyes, looking terrified as she stared at Irene. "Irene, what do you want?"
Seeing the fear on her face, Irene felt a rush of satisfaction. "Sharon, I didn't expect you to end up like this."
"Are you crazy? Do you know that kidnapping is illegal?" as Sharon spoke to Irene, she observed her surroundings.
However, apart from the area illuminated by their flashlight, everything else was pitch dark. Even if she wanted to escape, she would need the flashlight.
"If I dare to kidnap you, I have a way to get away with it," as she spoke, Irene gave Eugene a signal with her eyes.
In the next second, a knife was pressed against Sharon's neck.
Irene addeed, "Sharon, I'll give you a chance. Call Alex for help. If he's willing to pay the ransom, I'll let you go after getting the money. How about that?"
Sharon frowned, her eyes filled with suspicion as she looked at Irene. She felt that it wouldn't be that simple.
If Irene really wanted money, she wouldn't openly appear in front of her. Irene knew that if Sharon returned alive, she would definitely tell Alex that Irene had kidnapped her. So Irene never intended to let her leave alive!
From Eugene and Anthony's earlier conversation, Sharon deduced that Eugene kidnapped her for money.
In a flash, she figured out everything.
Irene probably wanted to kill her but didn't want to be involved, so she arranged for Eugene to kidnap her. If Sharon died, Eugene would take the blame.
In fact, Irene might not even spare Eugene.
After all, dead men tell no tales.
Seeing Sharon remain silent, Irene sneered, "If you don't want to call, you'll die right now."
Sharon knew her survival hinged on Alex. If she could hang on until he brought help, there might be a glimmer of hope
She said, "Fine, I'll call."
"You give me the number, and I'll dial it. But you'd better watch your words." After dialing Alex's number, Irene put it on speaker.
After a few rings, someone answered. But it wasn't Alex's voice; it was a seductive female voice. "Who is it?"
Recognizing Ava's voice, Sharon's face changed. "It's Sharon. I need to talk to Alex. Give him the phone."
Ava chuckled lightly on the other line, "Alex is in the shower right now. He probably can't take your call, Ms. Wright. What do you need to talk to him about? You can tell me, and I'll pass the message."
Sharon bit her lip, her hand clenching unconsciously. "Ava, I've been kidnapped..."
Before she could finish, Ava interrupted, "Sharon, don't think you can get Alex to come to you with such a pathetic lie. If you really want to see him, come find him yourself. But tonight, he's with me and our baby. He won't have time for you."
With her life on the line, Sharon couldn't care less about her personal grudge with Ava.
She said, "I'm really kidnapped. Just tell him, that's all I ask."
"If you're really kidnapped, then go ahead and die. Without you, the baby in my belly will be legitimate, and I can be with Alex. Don't worry, after you die, I'll visit your grave every year." Ava's voice was filled with malice, and she hung up immediately after speaking.
Sharon's heart sank, overwhelmed by panic, fear, and despair.
She knew Ava wished her dead. Ava had cut her off from Alex; he'd remain oblivious to the call. Perhaps she shouldn't have dialed in the first place
From the moment Alex cheated on her, she had become insignificant to him.
At that moment, Sharon truly gave up on him.
Their eight-year relationship was now completely shattered.
Seeing the despair on her face, Irene sneered, "It looks like Alex isn't coming to save you. I'll just send you off early."
As soon as she finished speaking, Eugene said in a deep voice, "Ms. Robinson, what do you mean by that? If you kill her, I get nothing."
Irene smiled and looked at Eugene. "Eugene, don't worry. If you kill her, I'll give you two million dollars. How about that?"
Eugene hesitated, fear and doubt flashing in his eyes.
After all, he kidnapped Sharon just to get money for Melissa's treatment; he didn't want to take a life.
Seeing his hesitation, Irene said firmly, " Eugene, what are you hesitating for? Sharon knows we kidnapped her. Do you think she'll spare us if we let her go? If you don't want to go to jail, just kill her!"
Under Irene's manipulation, Eugene's expression changed, and he started considering whether to kill Sharon.
Sharon calmed down; she couldn't die here. "Don't be fooled by her. She wants you to kill me so she won't be blamed for murder. She plans to pin everything on you."
Irene's face changed, and she gritted her teeth. "Sharon, stop talking nonsense. Eugene, do it now! Don't you want to save your wife?"
Sharon said, "If you kill me, she'll either kill you or you'll end up in jail, and you'll get nothing!"
Seeing Eugene's resolve waver again, Irene was furious. "Shut up, you bitch!"
Eugene looked at Irene, suspicion in his eyes. "Ms. Robinson, is she right? Are you planning to pin everything on me?"
Irene's face stiffened, and she quickly said, "Don't listen to her. She just wants to live!"
"If it's not like she said, then you do it." Eugene wasn't stupid. Thanks to Sharon's reminder, he realized that Irene had been making him do everything while she stayed out of it.
As he spoke, Eugene handed the knife to Irene.
This was the moment Sharon had been waiting for.
She suddenly pushed Eugene away, quickly grabbed the flashlight, and ran towards the stairs.
Meanwhile, Paul had just arrived at Sharon's house and immediately sensed something was wrong.
He saw the door ajar and the darkness inside. He called out a few times but got no response.
He dialed Sharon's number, and soon, he heard it vibrating inside.
He cautiously pushed the door open, seeing the mess in the living room but no sign of Sharon.
His face changed, and he quickly contacted Seb. "Mr. Smith, Ms. Wright is missing!"
