Chapter 102 Raymond and I Are Married

Emily's face was a mess. She thought her last embarrassing moment was bad, but this one took the cake.

With tears streaming down, she noticed Caterlington was there too. It felt like her dignity was stomped into the ground. She couldn't handle it and bolted, crying.

Selena's face was a blank slate. Watching Emily run off, she calmly hit the close button.

Sharing an elevator with these big-shot young talents, Selena stayed cool as a cucumber. She was ready to negotiate with Caterlington.

Caterlington stood next to her, his voice soft but with a clear agenda. "Penny, there's a huge fireworks show tonight in Silver Bay City. We can get a perfect view from our box."

Selena raised an eyebrow. A huge fireworks show?

Sure, Silver Bay City had fireworks every New Year's, lighting up the whole place and drawing crowds from other towns.

But other times? She'd never heard of fireworks in Silver Bay City.

First roses, now fireworks. Looked like this was Caterlington's go-to move for wooing girls.

Selena smiled, "No thanks, Mr. Walsh. I'm here to talk about Mr. Wright's company. What perks did you offer him?"

Caterlington got shot down again but didn't lose his cool. Winning her over too easily would be boring anyway.

"Mr. Wright's company? I'd rather have a proper sit-down chat with you," Caterlington smiled back.

By now, the elevator had reached the top floor. Turns out, the other three guys were getting off here too.

Selena glanced at them, but Raymond was the first to step out. A waiter was already in the hallway, ready to guide him to his private room.

A waiter also came for Selena, and it turned out their rooms were right next to each other.

Selena walked into her room and saw roses everywhere, from the entrance to the dining table. She rolled her eyes, thinking it was super cheesy.

If she didn't really need to know what it would take for Caterlington to let other renovation companies work with her, she wouldn't have bothered coming.

Selena forced a smile and sat down, looking at Caterlington.

"Mr. Walsh, you sure know how to set the mood," she said.

Caterlington had used these tricks to chase girls plenty of times. Usually, he'd whip out some pricey jewelry, and the girl would be thrilled.

So when he heard Selena's comment, he thought he had her tonight.

Caterlington confidently stepped closer and poured her a glass of red wine. "To win over a woman like you, I have to be thoughtful."

Selena didn't touch the wine. She knew Caterlington's tricks all too well, and being Kross's son, she couldn't afford to let her guard down.

"Mr. Walsh, I've been working with Mr. Wright for almost three years. His sudden refusal really threw me off. T. Rowe Group has deep ties in the renovation industry. What did I do to tick you off, Mr. Walsh, that you'd stoop to dealing with me directly?"

Caterlington swirled his wine, leaned back, and smirked, "I thought I made it pretty clear tonight."

He took a sip and set the glass down. "Penny, you've been with Raymond. Don't you want to try someone else? I'm not much different from him."

Caterlington expected Selena to blow up, but she stayed cool.

"Mr. Walsh, do you know why I could be with Raymond?" Selena asked.

Caterlington's smirk vanished, replaced by a sharp look. "What are you getting at, Penny?"

Selena pulled a document from her bag and laid it on the table.

Caterlington saw it was a marriage certificate. He picked it up, and his face darkened as he read it.

"As you can see, Raymond and I are married. If you don't believe me, I can call William to confirm. You remember William, right? He said you and Kross picked up some shady methods and was pretty disappointed in you."

Caterlington's body tensed, his face shifting through a range of emotions. After a long pause, he gritted his teeth, "Do you think I'd buy this? Documents like these can be easily faked with money."

Plus, Raymond's cold attitude towards Selena didn't exactly scream "married couple."

"I signed an agreement with Raymond to divorce quietly later and act like strangers in public. But Mr. Walsh, you've crossed a line. Since you're using T. Rowe Group's power to pressure me, I have no choice but to call William."

Selena reached for her phone.

Caterlington couldn't let her make that call.

Everyone knew William's reputation. Even Kross had a lot of respect for him.

William had never liked Kross. Back in the day, William was a big deal in the business world, with many followers. Kross was just someone William had helped out, who later became a leader in the renovation industry. Since then, William hadn't been fond of Kross and hadn't seen him in years.
