Chapter 130 It's Better Not to Owe Too Much
Selena let out a big sigh, feeling totally wiped out.
But she wasn't about to stick around until morning. She quietly cleaned up the mess on the floor, making sure there were no bits left behind, and took out the trash. She even forgot the thermal box, just opened the door, and left.
Downstairs, she bumped into Jane.
Jane looked like she'd been through hell with Reid, limping and all.
Selena, with her bum ankle, wasn't walking too smoothly either.
Jane saw Selena and sneered. They both looked like they'd been up to no good, sneaking out of the hotel in the middle of the night. It wasn't hard to guess what Selena had been doing.
Jane always thought Selena was all high and mighty, but turns out she was just like her, selling herself on the down-low.
Jane snorted, crossed her arms, and gave Selena the once-over before saying with a smirk, "Who'd you spend the night with? Looks like it was rough."
Jane loved seeing the calm on Selena's face crack, so she went on, "Seems like your guy was pretty satisfied. How much did you make tonight?"
Selena frowned and ignored her. When the elevator arrived, she just walked out.
Jane got pissed and hurried after her, shouting, "Selena! You better keep quiet about tonight's events, or I'll tell everyone about you sneaking into the hotel to keep someone company. We're in the same boat, so let's not look down on each other!"
Jane's face was smug. She'd been worried Selena would spread rumors about her and Reid at the studio.
Selena stopped and saw a woman approaching from outside, someone who looked pretty classy.
Selena raised an eyebrow and turned to Jane. "Do you know Reid's married? If his wife finds out about you two hooking up in the hotel, it could get real ugly."
Jane sneered and stood tall. "Mr. Wright said he doesn't care about his wife; he's all about me now. Selena, I think you're just jealous I'm with Reid. You've worked with him for three years, and he hasn't shown any interest in you."
Selena couldn't get Jane. Since when was seducing someone else's husband something to brag about?
A woman being proud of the number of men she seduced was as ridiculous as a man bragging about the number of women he slept with.
Didn't she realize it just made her look cheap?
Jane was about to keep mocking Selena when the woman who had just walked in suddenly rushed over and smacked her on the head with her bag.
"You bitch!" the woman screamed.
Jane, totally caught off guard, felt her head spin from the hit and angrily shoved the woman away. "Are you crazy?!"
The woman sneered and slapped Jane hard. "You've got the nerve to seduce my husband! Why don't you have the guts to admit it? I'm Reid's wife. So, it was you who kept calling him, you bitch. Watch me beat you to death tonight!"
Selena took the chance to slip out of the hotel.
Having worked with Reid for years, she had seen his wife from a distance and recognized her just now, so she had deliberately asked Jane that question.
Jane had basically confessed everything.
Selena smiled to herself and drove back to Ashbourne Manor.
When Raymond got up in the morning and went outside, he found that Selena was already gone.
The suit and blanket were neatly folded on the sofa, and the broken pieces on the floor were cleaned up.
He didn't say anything, just changed into a new suit and planned to head to the Montague Group.
The room still had her lingering scent, making it hard to ignore.
There was a message on his phone from Selena, another pending payment.
It was for the table and a few cups that got damaged last night.
The suite was long-term reserved for Raymond, and all the items inside were his personal belongings.
Selena didn't compensate the hotel but compensated Raymond directly.
Raymond raised an eyebrow and refunded the payment.
He went into the bathroom, intending to shave, but when he picked up the razor, he felt the pain in his palm and remembered his right hand was injured. His brow furrowed instinctively.
Selena saw the refund and felt a bit heavy-hearted.
Last time, Raymond didn't let her repay for the umbrella either. If she were Raymond, she would probably be annoyed by now.
Selena rubbed her brow, thought for a moment, and decided to go to the mall to pick out a pair of cufflinks as a gift to be sent to the Montague Group.
But she still had to compensate Raymond for the eight million dollars. She had already exhausted her savings to buy a house and couldn't come up with the money, so she had to go to James.
The things Selena broke last night were worth about twenty thousand dollars. She chose a pair of cufflinks of similar value, which made her feel much less burdened. It's better not to owe too much between her and Raymond.
