Chapter 208 Do You Often Come Out to Eat With Your Husband?
Selena got back to Ashbourne Manor and saw the car outside. Raymond was here. Her steps slowed.
Almost on instinct, she turned around and left here in a hurry.
She was already in a foul mood, thinking about the issues with her new place, the frustration with the Fair family, and now bumping into Raymond, her so-called husband, at Ashbourne Manor. She had to hide from him.
Her eyes welled up, and she found a chair near Ashbourne Manor to sit down.
The night breeze was chilly, and she shivered, feeling a tight pain in her chest.
Just as she was debating whether to head back to Rose Garden, a pair of black leather shoes appeared in front of her.
She looked up, slightly stunned, to see Raymond standing there, looking down at her.
Selena's heart skipped a beat, and all her emotions suddenly vanished. Was Raymond onto her?
Raymond said, "I thought I was seeing things."
He wondered, 'Why is Selena near Ashbourne Manor? Just passing by? Walking the dog like before?'
Selena's mind raced. "I mentioned earlier that I wanted to treat you to a meal. I was just passing by and was gonna call to see if you were free."
The dim lighting made her tear-streaked eyes look bright and clear, almost see-through.
She had probably been crying. But with his appearance, she quickly hid that vulnerability.
Was it work or family?
For some reason, the man she had seen before popped into his mind.
If it weren't for the fact that the man had indeed come to pick up Selena that day, Raymond would never have associated such a man with Selena.
It wasn't that he looked down on ordinary people; it was just that in this world, everything was about being a good match.
An associate degree, ordinary looks, a small-time employee.
And Selena was a top student at Silver Bay City's Art Institute, with good looks and great temperament. Any of her design projects could easily fetch millions of dollars.
Such a man shouldn't have any connection with Selena. But he was her husband, and Selena seemed to be deeply devoted to him.
He didn't quite understand.
Do women nowadays not care about requirements when choosing a husband?
He didn't have the habit of eating late-night snacks and always maintained a strict routine.
But seeing her lower her eyelashes, looking so desolate.
"What do you want to eat?"
Selena was stunned and looked up at him.
Raymond stood there indifferently, his aura still cold and his face expressionless.
As far as Selena knew, Raymond was very particular about his diet due to his stomach issues, and when he wasn't working late, he had a very regular routine and never ate late-night snacks.
She had just said it casually to get herself out of the situation. But now that he responded, she didn't know what to eat.
They finally decided on a restaurant near the office building.
Selena was still a bit dazed when she sat down. Was she really having a late-night snack with Raymond?
Raymond sat across from her, looking at the menu, and ordered a set meal for two.
He had never eaten at this kind of restaurant before and rarely went out to eat alone with women, so he had no idea that the set meals for two in the restaurant were all couples' meals.
Selena didn't think of this either.
It wasn't until someone brought a bowl of fresh rose petals and spread them on the table in front of them that Selena was stunned.
Raymond remained calm, glanced at the waiter, and the waiter smiled.
"Enjoy your meal."
Raymond frowned slightly and heard Selena say, "You probably don't go out to eat with women much. The set meals for two in this kind of restaurant are meant for couples."
Because Selena said it so naturally and didn't seem embarrassed at all, Raymond felt a bit stifled.
"You seem to know a lot. Do you often come out to eat with your husband?"
