Chapter 287 I Know Whose Side You're On
"Where's Selena? Get her down here right now!"
Catherine was fuming tonight, her eyebrows practically knitting together in anger.
If anything happened to Raymond, Selena would definitely be in hot water!
Fiona was a bit scared of Catherine too. She could be pretty unreasonable and had no mercy when it came to Selena.
"She's outside."
Hearing that, Catherine's anger only grew.
"Married and still out at this hour? Who knows what she's up to. Do you even know what time it is? It's almost eleven! She doesn't seem to do anything all day. Raymond hasn't been home for three years, and who knows if she's been loyal to the Montague family. If it turns out she hasn't, I'll make sure the entire Fair family pays!"
Fiona swallowed nervously, worried Catherine would blame Raymond's allergy on Selena. After all, Raymond had an allergic reaction outside before coming back to Ashbourne Manor, so it clearly had nothing to do with the manor.
"Selena's dog hasn't been here for a while."
Fiona had to lie to protect Selena.
Catherine sneered. "Don't think I don't know whose side you're on. There's no point in trying to please Selena. She'll divorce Raymond sooner or later. We're only letting her stay here because William isn't well. You're just a servant, so do your job and stop scheming."
Catherine sat down. "Tell Selena to come back. I need to see her tonight. Raymond's allergy must be because of her dog, and that dog has to go."
Fiona liked Selena and Max, so Catherine's words really got to her.
But Catherine was right; as a servant, she shouldn't meddle in the Montague family's affairs. Fiona immediately called Selena, who was still at the pet hospital waiting for Max's surgery to finish.
The doctor had just informed her that the anesthesia hadn't worn off yet.
"Fiona."
Hearing her voice, Fiona lowered her tone.
"Selena, how's Max? I'm sorry, it's all my fault."
Selena rubbed her temples, feeling a bit tired.
"Max is still in surgery."
"Catherine came over and wants you to come back now. She said you have to get rid of Max. Raymond had a severe allergic reaction when he came back."
Selena frowned. Even if Raymond had an allergic reaction, it should be because of Olivia's cat, not Max.
Catherine just couldn't stand her and was using the allergy as an excuse to target her.
Her face darkened.
"Tell her I'm not coming back tonight. Raymond's allergy because he went with Olivia to the pet hospital, not because of Max. If she doesn't believe it, there's nothing I can do."
Fiona sensed the firmness in her tone, knowing Selena was also angry.
Selena wasn't without a temper; she had just been enduring it all along.
"Selena, why don't you come back for a bit? I'll stay at the hospital with Max. Raymond is upstairs with a fever, and Catherine is waiting downstairs. I..."
"Just pretend you didn't hear her. You're on Grandpa's side. No matter how angry she gets, she won't dare to hit you."
Fiona found this amusing. She wasn't worried about being hit, just concerned about Selena's relationship with her mother-in-law.
They couldn't really end up getting divorced, could they?
That would make William very sad.
After hanging up, she looked at Catherine.
"She's still busy with work. She said Raymond's allergy was from going with Olivia to the pet hospital, not from the dog's fur at home."
Catherine was stunned. Raymond accompanied Olivia to the pet hospital?
