Chapter 205 I Didn't Realize You also Like Handsome Guy

The car slowly rolled away.

Inside, John could feel Raymond's mood lighten as the icy tension thawed. He let out a sigh of relief.

Women who pushed their luck too far in Silver Bay City usually vanished quickly. That bold woman from this morning had approached several times. Luckily, Raymond was in a better mood now, sparing the executives at Foster Corporation.

Selena waited for Raymond's car to leave before squatting down to look at Max.

She had raised Max for years. Despite being cute, obedient, and non-aggressive, he had never been such enthusiastic about anyone, not even Shelley, except Raymond. The first time they met, he almost wagged his tail off.

Selena held Max's face and rubbed it.

Could it be that Max simply liked Raymond's good looks?

On this point, Selena couldn't really argue.

Because Raymond's appearance was one she had wanted to capture in her drawings countless times.

She tapped Max's head with her fingertip.

"Didn't realize you had a thing for handsome guys."

After walking Max, Selena ran into Catherine, who had come to Ashbourne Manor for an inspection, on her way back.

Catherine seemed very worried that something might be going on between Raymond and Selena. She first went upstairs to take a look around, and only after confirming that Selena was still living in the room farthest from Raymond's master bedroom did she breathe a sigh of relief.

"I heard Dad sent you a gift again?"

William's punishment hadn't been kept a secret; almost everyone in the Montague family had heard about it.

But no one had proactively contacted Raymond's nominal wife to tell her about it, showing just how marginalized Selena's status was in the Montague family.

When Catherine heard that her son had cheated, she was initially in disbelief, then delighted.

She hadn't liked Olivia back then either, thinking the Stone family wasn't a match for the Montague family.

But after Raymond married Selena, he left home for three years, during which even phone calls were rare.

Catherine had already lost one son and didn't want to have conflicts with her younger son, so she reluctantly accepted Olivia.

So she had always been warning Selena not to have any other ideas.

But now, hearing about the existence of another woman, Catherine was even happier.

If her son wasn't dead set on Olivia, she had plenty of other candidates.

There were many socialites in Silver Bay City with good family backgrounds, much better than Selena from a small household.

When Selena saw Catherine in the living room, she was glad she had taken Max to the back room first.

Catherine came over just to show her dominance, occasionally reminding Selena not to forget her place. So once she confirmed that Selena was behaving, she left with a swagger.

As she left, she threw out one last remark.

"Raymond will never go for you. Even if you somehow end up in his bed one day, he won't give you a second glance. Your family isn't qualified to give me grandchildren."

Selena stood there, obediently not saying a word in retort.

Seeing her like this, Catherine, for some reason, didn't feel satisfied but rather frustrated.

After a few more scoldings, she snorted coldly and left for good.

As soon as she left, Fiona came out from the side, sighing.

"Selena, maybe I should tell William. Catherine coming over to cause trouble from time to time must make you feel wronged."

"No need."

She didn't feel wronged because she didn't intend to stay in the Montague family.

Back upstairs, Selena thought she would spend the rest of the day like this. But in the evening, James called.

Her first instinct was not to answer, but then she thought of the liver cancer and had to compromise.

"Dad."

"A classmate of your mom's and mine came over. They want to discuss something with you. Come by; we might be able to collaborate with their company in the future."

If it was a work-related matter, they wouldn't have come to the Fair family.

When Selena drove over and entered the living room, she saw Reid sitting opposite James. Her face immediately darkened, and Reid smirked upon seeing her.

"Didn't expect it, turns out you're the daughter of my classmate."

Selena saw a pile of gifts on the coffee table, the most valuable of which was an ancient painting estimated to be worth thirty million dollars, and it was the very piece James had been looking for.

James seemed to have been chatting with Reid for quite a while. When he saw her come in, he waved her over.

"Come over and say hello to Mr. Wright."
