Chapter 30
Sofia's ankle was already swollen, and she struggled to her feet, ready to complain.
"Raymond, this woman, she..." Before Sofia could finish, Selena pointed to the surveillance camera.
"You splashed me first on purpose. If you did it just to keep me away from Mr. Montague, then you clearly don't know him well enough," Selena said with a smirk. "Everyone knows Mr. Montague doesn't easily interact with women and wouldn't make such a rookie mistake."
Selena's words hit hard. Even if Raymond wanted to fire back, he was at a loss. A sly glint appeared in her eyes.
"Ms. Stone, you're trying so hard to stand out. Is it for your so-called cousin Olivia or for yourself?" Selena added.
Sofia was shaking with anger. She couldn't believe she'd be so blunt, especially with Raymond right there.
"Raymond." Sofia's voice was pitiful, looking more helpless as she glanced at Raymond, hoping he'd defend her.
But Raymond's gaze shifted from her to Selena.
Selena met his eyes confidently. Compared to Sofia's act, Selena was straightforward the whole time.
"Raymond, I'm so sorry for that," Sofia apologized.
She was worried she might not be able to stay at the Montague Group. How would she explain that to Olivia? Plus, being close to Raymond made her feel pretty pleased.
Raymond avoided Sofia's outstretched hand, his expression unchanged. He said calmly, "We'll know if it was intentional after checking the surveillance."
Sofia's face went pale, and her hand clenched at her side.
It seemed Raymond wanted to get to the bottom of this.
But didn't Olivia say she had talked to Raymond to take good care of her when she first joined the company? Why wasn't he on her side now?
Selena also realized Raymond intended to pursue the matter. She knew Raymond wouldn't offend Olivia because of her.
Saying to check the surveillance was probably just a way to ease the conflict.
Selena quickly weighed the pros and cons in her mind.
She suddenly spoke, "Mr. Montague, there's no need to check the surveillance. Ms. Stone was just nervous."
Everyone looked at her.
Selena's expression was calm and gentle. "It's good to clear up the misunderstanding."
With Selena's words, no one else knew what to say.
Sofia ended up offending everyone.
Raymond squinted and said to John beside him, "Take her to the dressing room and have someone bring a set of clothes."
John nodded and quickly said to Selena, "Ms. Cooper, this way, please."
In her current state, Selena had no choice but to follow John.
Meanwhile, Sofia, left behind, bit her lip tightly.
Seeing Raymond had already entered the conference room and seemed not to care about the matter anymore, Sofia quietly followed Selena.
As soon as Selena entered the dressing room, she heard Sofia's voice behind her. "Your little act might fool others, but not me. Lisa posted photos in the group of you and Raymond having dinner at a hotel. Being a mistress and pretending to be innocent, how shameless."
No wonder she wanted to deal with Selena as soon as they met; someone had badmouthed her beforehand.
Selena found it amusing. While wiping the coffee stain on her chest, she frowned.
"Ms. Stone, I remember Mr. Montague is married. So, on what grounds are you interfering in his private life? Olivia hasn't married Mr. Montague yet. If Mrs. Montague found out about her openly coveting her husband, it wouldn't be good, would it?" Selena mocked.
