Chapter 1607 Malicious Factors at Work

Zaid tossed the dagger into a nearby trash can and shoved the person towards Atlas. "Ask Isolde where Manuel is right now."

There was no way that twisted man who loved imprisoning people would really let go of a woman who looked so much like Octavia's daughter.

Zaid felt a malicious satisfaction brewing inside him. It was as if this woman being humiliated by Manuel was the same as Selena being humiliated. After all, could Octavia have been imprisoned for so many years and still remained untouched?

Both mother and daughter were violated by the same person—what a script.

Just the thought of it made the smile in his eyes even warmer.

00 had undergone professional training, but her training was limited to mimicking Selena. Her skills weren't good enough to protect herself against a hypocrite like Zaid.

With her hands bound, even moving a little was extremely difficult.

"Let me go!"

"I'll let you go if you tell me where Raymond is and what his goal is."

Could Raymond really have come in too? But why would he bring a decoy with him? That would be too easy to expose himself.

Or maybe Raymond sent this woman in first to scout the situation. Wasn't that just treating her like cannon fodder?

Zaid dismissed the idea that Raymond was also in the research base. Bringing a decoy all the way here, especially one with such poor skills, was just plain stupid.

00 pressed her lips together and struggled a bit, realizing she was no match for him. She stopped moving.

She knew exactly why her boss had sent her in—to stir up trouble and throw a smoke bomb.

Just like now, Zaid wouldn't suspect that Raymond was here anymore.

While she was being tied up, she noticed a woman standing not far away.

The woman seemed like she was about to rush over, but stopped after about ten feet, standing still.

Zaid followed her gaze and saw Calla, who was crying.

He hadn't spoken much with the famous Calla before, but she must really dislike him; otherwise, she wouldn't have voted against him.

What was Calla doing now?

Was she crying? It was unbelievable.

Zaid quickly composed himself and walked slowly over to Calla. "Dr. Griffin, I'm Zaid. I've heard of you before. Meeting you in person is quite different."

Calla's gaze lingered on 00 for a few seconds before she slowly looked up.

But she didn't choose to shake hands with the man in front of her. Instead, she took a step back.

Zaid's brow furrowed.

Calla left quickly, almost as if she were fleeing, heading straight for the core research lab.

Raymond was already there, having perfectly placed the vial he retrieved from the ventilation duct onto the research table.

The lab door swung open, and Calla strode in.

Her face was pale, and unlike her usual self, she didn't immerse herself in research but quickly headed for a side corridor.

Raymond raised an eyebrow and followed her slowly.

At the end of the hallway was Calla's personal room. The door was open, and the sound of vomiting came from inside.

Raymond stood at the doorway and heard the sound of a mirror shattering.

He thought for a few seconds before cautiously stepping inside.

Calla was standing in the bathroom, her face covered in water droplets.

She wasn't young anymore, but traces of her youthful vigor were still visible.

She was gasping for breath, her hands gripping the sink tightly, her whole body trembling.

"Dr. Griffin, are you okay?" Raymond asked.

Calla looked up, meeting his gaze.

Raymond felt like something had changed.

The central hall was in chaos, with the released animals still crashing around. Professional staff had already come in to handle the situation.

Not only were they dealing with the animals, but they were also taking care of some researchers who had gone mad in the chaos.

The core research lab was the safest and quietest place.

Raymond looked at Calla, a strange suspicion forming in his mind.

Since entering the base, everything had gone too smoothly. He had been placed in a house with a ventilation connection, brought to the core research lab, and conveniently learned about the effects of certain drugs.

All these coincidences made it seem like he was too lucky.

But where in the world was there such luck?

Before entering the research base, he had received a map. Clearly, someone had anticipated his actions and was guiding him into the base.

"Dr. Griffin?"
