Chapter 1488 Born Bad

Octavia stared at him for a few minutes before her lips pressed into a thin line.

"Did you learn all these skills and get stronger just to torment others?"

"Octavia, I..."

He couldn't understand why she was so upset. To him, those weaklings were insignificant; their deaths didn't matter.

Octavia's face was heavy with disappointment as she spoke, "Kneel."

She continued, "Do you know why I never wanted to teach you medicine? Because you have no compassion for the weak. You even find excitement in making others fear you. You were born bad."

The words "born bad" seemed to etch themselves into the deepest part of his mind.

Each time he awoke in the darkness, Octavia's words haunted him: Born bad.

How dare she say that about him? He was determined to learn medicine, and not just learn it, but master it.

A new thought took root in his mind—he wanted to make Octavia regret her words.

After that, Octavia became even busier. One day, she returned covered in injuries and tried to take him away.

"Victor, BK is not the place for you. It's too dark here; it will only twist you further. Come with me."

He looked into her eyes then, seeing the determination. She genuinely wanted to live a normal life and had made many efforts toward that goal.

He couldn't understand it. Everyone wanted to be stronger, to be extraordinary. Why did Octavia want to be ordinary?

"My daughter is very sweet. You'd like her if you met her."

He didn't know how many years he'd been in BK, but he rarely saw Octavia. Each time, he hoped to impress her, but she never cared about his strength. She only cared if he had become a better person.

She had a daughter?

He was shocked, then furious.

He had always craved Octavia's attention, subconsciously seeing her as a parental figure and hoping she would have high expectations for him.

But Octavia always asked, "Victor, are you happy?"

Of course, he was happy. His happiness came from trampling others.

But if he said that, she definitely wouldn't like it. She might even call him "born bad" again. So a seed of hatred was planted in his heart.

She had brought him into the organization but refused to teach him or even see him.

On their way out, they were ambushed.

He didn't know who sent those people—maybe others from the organization, maybe another faction.

She hid him in a cave, bleeding heavily.

"Victor, stay here. I'll lead them away and come back for you. Don't come out."

She was badly injured, bleeding continuously.

He thought it was just an excuse. She hated him and wouldn't come back.

Two hours after she left, he went out and found her struggling to return.

She collapsed not far from him, barely alive.

He froze, but a voice inside him said she wasn't coming back for him. She was just passing by while escaping.

He didn't help her. Instead, he walked away.

He encountered a group of armed men who asked if he'd seen an injured woman.

They were rough with him, grabbing his collar as if they might kill him.

Without hesitation, he betrayed Octavia's location.

"She's over there."

The men ran toward where Octavia had collapsed.

He was thrown down a slope, breaking a leg.

He returned to the organization and told the leaders that Octavia had betrayed BK and fled with the Jellyfish Seal. The organization was furious and declared her a traitor to be hunted down.

From then on, Octavia was a wanted fugitive in BK.

Anyone in the organization who saw her would try to kill her.

She deserved it for abandoning him.

But as he grew older, Victor found that no matter how many people he killed, it felt meaningless.

The words "born bad" still haunted him.

Not long after Octavia disappeared, he learned about his past and discovered he had a brother.

"Zaid, what are you thinking about?"

Atlas noticed him daydreaming and gently patted his shoulder.

Zaid shook his head slowly, a smile in his eyes. "Just remembering some old things. If Octavia is really still alive, that would be interesting."

Now that both she and Selena were about to become prisoners, he wondered if she would regret abandoning him.
