Chapter 191 Gripped Her Heart

Selena yelled out, only to find Raymond's head resting on the edge of the sofa, looking like he was out cold.

She let out a sigh of relief. Thank goodness he wasn't ignoring her on purpose; that would've been super awkward.

With him asleep, her plans for the night were pretty much shot. She had no choice but to get up and leave.

But then her eyes landed on his slightly open collar. After a moment's hesitation, she grabbed a blanket nearby and bent down to cover him.

Just as she did, Raymond's eyelashes fluttered, and his eyes opened.

They were so close now, they could feel each other's breath.

It wasn't the first time Selena had seen his face up close, but it still made her a bit dizzy.

Then, a warm touch landed on her lips, making her eyes widen and her body freeze.

The warmth on her lips moved to the center, like tiny tentacles gripping her heart.

Selena snapped back to reality and quickly straightened up.

Raymond leaned back on the sofa, eyes closed, like the kiss had been a dream.

Probably because of the alcohol, Selena felt her cheeks heat up. She hurriedly covered him with the blanket and rushed out.

As the door closed, Raymond opened his eyes, still a bit tipsy.

But then, thinking he was dreaming, he closed his eyes again.

Selena walked all the way outside the hotel, the night breeze helping her calm down.

She raised her hand and touched her lips.

The last time they played Truth or Dare, the kiss lasted thirty seconds.

This time it was probably only four or five seconds, much shorter, but it hit her way harder.

She hoped Raymond wouldn't remember this in the morning.

After all, it was her fault for covering him with the blanket, and he was a bit drunk. He might think she took advantage of him.

Selena felt she had enough problems already. Now that her project was rejected, she still had to seek Raymond's help.

So she had to wait until Raymond sobered up to talk to him about it.

Selena regretted it even as she lay down.

He was drunk, and the kiss came slowly. She was just too mesmerized by his face to push him away in time.

If there was another misunderstanding, Raymond probably wouldn't help her explain things to Grace.

Everything would have to wait until he sobered up.

The next morning, Selena had nothing to do since her project was rejected.

If the issues in Silver Bay City weren't resolved, the sandalwood flooring project in Ridgefield would also be delayed.

By eleven in the morning, thinking Raymond should be sober, Selena tentatively called him.

Raymond was still in a meeting. Seeing the flashing note, something quickly flashed in his eyes.

But he didn't answer, just turned off the screen and signaled the executives to continue.

"Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later..."

Hearing the mechanical female voice on the phone, Selena felt a bit deflated, unsure of Raymond's situation.

Selena packed up and decided to go to the Montague Group in person.

This time, she didn't run into Sofia, but Raymond was in a meeting.

John saw Selena and told her, "Mr. Montague's meeting runs until five in the afternoon. There will be a half-hour break at two. Ms. Cooper, would you like to wait here?"

Selena had no choice but to be escorted to Raymond's office by John to wait.

Selena had been sitting for half an hour when the office door opened. She quickly stood up, thinking it was Raymond, but it was Grace, making her instantly nervous.

Grace had come to discuss the matter regarding Carter with Raymond today, as Carter had crossed a line and it was necessary to address it at the Montague Group. However, she hadn't expected to run into Selena.

Grace chuckled, "Penny, do you know that Raymond is married?"

Grace sat down calmly, placing her bag aside. "Should I call his wife over now? Your studio already had that whole mess with Jane; you wouldn't want another scandal, would you? Otherwise, who would dare hire the designers from your studio?"

It seemed Grace had heard about Jane.

After all, Jane was still in police custody.

If Selena had been proven not to be the mastermind behind the car accident, she would probably be the one in custody now.
