Chapter 332 Eager to Be the Other Woman
Selena felt the car get a whole lot smaller right after she said that sentence.
She was just about to crack another joke when she heard him ask, "If you were to find someone, what kind would you look for?"
His voice was smooth and calm.
Caught off guard, Selena even thought Raymond might say, "How about me?"
She must be losing it to think someone like Raymond would want to be a third wheel.
With that silly thought, she looked down and started laughing. "Mr. Montague, I was just kidding."
Raymond's eyes went cold, and he clammed up instantly.
The car pulled up at Rose Garden. As she got out, Selena was about to thank him, but he drove off without a word.
Selena straightened up and sighed. His moods were really fluctuating.
Back at Rose Garden, Selena didn't have time to rest. She quickly changed and headed to the Fair family’s company.
As soon as she stepped into the lobby, the receptionist let Kenny know she was there.
Kenny, sitting in James's chair, heard the news and his eyes gleamed with malice.
Nick had been neglecting the company lately because of his personal issues, and Kenny had been plotting his revenge on Selena.
Using the shares Beatrice held and the trust he had built up, Kenny started running the Fair family's company.
The contract with Apex Holdings Group was signed at nine in the morning. Even if Selena found out now, it was too late.
Kenny smirked and grabbed his coat, looking every bit the president.
By the time Selena walked in, Kenny was long gone.
Feeling uneasy, she headed straight to the business department. "What's the last company you signed a major contract with?" she asked.
The folks in the business department had never seen Selena before. No way were they going to spill company secrets to a stranger.
Plus, with James still in the hospital, Selena couldn't prove she was his daughter.
They found an excuse to brush her off.
Selena got it; they didn't know her.
She called Beatrice.
Beatrice was at home, trying to calm Nick down. She had transferred $450,000 to him to keep him quiet for now.
Nick hadn't left the house in days, and Beatrice stayed home, worried he might do something stupid.
When she got Selena's call, she was a bit annoyed. "What is it?"
Selena asked, "Aunt Beatrice, I heard Kenny's been handling the company's affairs lately?"
Beatrice's heart skipped a beat. Worried Selena had found something out, she found that her palms got sweaty, and her back stiffened.
Beatrice said guiltily, "Yes, you know Nick's condition, and your dad hasn't woken up yet. Kenny is the person your dad trusts the most. What's wrong with entrusting him with the company?"
Selena frowned. She knew James trusted Kenny, who had worked with him for years. But Kenny had no right to replace the Fair family in signing contracts.
Selena asked, "What's the Fair family's latest project?"
Beatrice said, "Selena, why do you care about this? You don't have any shares and still want to interfere in the company's affairs? I think your grandparents are going to cause trouble again. You should think about how to help your dad solve this problem!"
Beatrice hung up. She didn't actually know what projects Kenny had signed recently. He had mentioned something about needing her as a guarantor to get the board’s approval.
She trusted Kenny so much that she agreed without thinking twice.
Selena, hearing the call end, realized her situation. Without company shares, she was completely isolated unless James woke up immediately.
Selena called Shelley, asking her to dig into Kenny's recent activities and potential partners of the Fair family company.
In the evening, Shelley came to see her in person. "Selena, it seems Kenny has a secret lover."
