Chapter 163 Too Possessive

Raymond dropped his gaze, avoiding Selena.

From the corner of his eye, he saw Selena's fingers picking up the documents on the table, organizing them neatly.

A knock on the door broke the silence, followed by Sofia's voice. "Mr. Montague."

"Come in," Raymond said, barely looking up.

Raymond shifted his focus back to the computer, ignoring everything else.

Sofia glanced at Selena with a slight smirk and walked forward. "Olivia just called. She said she bought you a gift and had it rushed over. Here it is, Mr. Montague."

Sofia made a show of opening the package, revealing the cufflinks, clearly trying to get under Selena's skin. "Olivia wants to know if you like it. If not, the courier's still downstairs, and you can exchange it."

Selena immediately recognized the cufflinks—they were the same style she had given Raymond. She had picked them out carefully, so she remembered them well.

She understood Olivia's game. It was a bit much, and Olivia was being way too possessive.

Raymond looked at the cufflinks, having completely forgotten which ones Selena had given him, so he just accepted them.

Then he asked, "Why did Olivia suddenly think of sending something?"

Sofia shot a triumphant glance at Selena. This was Olivia's influence; just mentioning her name shifted Raymond's attention.

Sofia thought Selena would back down, but Selena's face stayed calm, like none of this bothered her.

'What's her deal? Is she faking it?' Sofia wondered.

Just as Sofia was about to say something, Raymond's phone rang. It was Olivia.

Raymond answered, and Olivia's voice came through. "Raymond, did you get the gift?"

"I did," Raymond replied.

"Do you like it? I spent a lot of time picking it out, thought it would suit you," Olivia asked.

"Not bad," Raymond said. He was always a man of few words and had someone to coordinate his outfits, so he didn't worry about such things.

Olivia smiled, thinking of Selena in the office, and softened her tone on purpose.

"As long as you like it. Will you wear it for me? I'd love to see you in it," Olivia continued.

Raymond didn't overthink it and simply said, "Okay."

This answer made Olivia really happy. Ignoring Selena so openly, it seemed like Selena's feelings were one-sided.

Everyone in Silver Bay City knew Raymond was Olivia's man.

Even his nominal wife had to avoid confrontation, enduring silently for three years. What right did this designer have to get close?

Olivia sneered inwardly but spoke even more gently, "I won't disturb your work then. I'll be back soon, so don't forget to pick me up, okay?"

Raymond responded with another "Okay."

After hanging up, he was about to toss the cufflinks into a nearby drawer when he noticed an identical package inside.

He then remembered that Selena had given him a pair before.

He looked up at Selena, but she wasn't looking at him; she was still organizing the documents on the table.

After finishing, Selena looked up and smiled at him, "Mr. Montague, I'm done here. I won't disturb your work."

Raymond felt a brief pang of discomfort, though he didn't understand why. Determined to distance himself from Selena, he spoke up. "No need to bring the soup anymore."

Both Raymond and Selena knew why she brought the soup.

But Sofia, unaware, thought Raymond's stern refusal was because of Olivia's call.

Sofia's face was full of triumph, barely able to contain her smile.

Selena was momentarily stunned, then sighed in relief. She was about to get busy and didn't have time to make soup anyway.

Besides, with Raymond's unpredictable visits to Ashbourne Manor, it would be awkward if he found out the soup was made by Fiona.

"Alright," Selena agreed readily, which made Raymond feel a bit uncomfortable.
