Chapter 129 The Night Adding a Layer of Mystery
Alex was a screenwriter, known for nailing the little details and then letting his imagination run wild.
But tonight, he hit the nail on the head. Raymond and Selena were in the same room.
They weren't in bed, but for Raymond, this was already crossing a line.
Especially when he walked in and saw Selena's neck exposed, showing a lot of skin.
Any woman wrapped in a man's clothes had a certain allure, especially with the night adding a layer of mystery.
Raymond frowned and headed straight to the master bedroom.
He felt like the shower he just took didn't do the trick; a cold one would've been better.
At the same time, he was getting more and more annoyed. Who sleeps so carelessly in a male client's room?
Was he overthinking it, or did Selena have some other agenda?
Raymond's eyes landed on a blanket on the bed. Thinking about the suit jacket draped over her, he bent down, picked it up, and went back to the living room. He tossed it over her without much care.
He didn't look at Selena's face and kept his distance on purpose.
After that, Raymond didn't bother anymore and went back to the master bedroom to crash.
When he wasn't pulling all-nighters, he was disciplined, shutting his eyes at ten sharp.
But if he had to work overtime for days, he wouldn't feel a bit tired.
Just as Raymond closed his eyes, he heard a noise from the living room, like something got kicked.
He tried to ignore it, blocked out Selena, and went straight to sleep.
Selena woke up in the middle of the night because her foot hurt.
She frowned and rubbed her eyes, still half-asleep.
When she remembered where she was, she quickly stood up.
But her legs were numb from being curled up too long, and her ankle wasn't healed yet. So when she moved, she fell towards the table.
The glass table tipped over, and the thermal box along with several glass cups shattered.
With all that noise, there was no way Raymond wouldn't wake up.
With a cold expression, he lazily tied his robe and opened the master bedroom door.
Selena was struggling to get up from the floor, and when she looked up, she saw Raymond standing there, looking pissed.
Knowing she was in the wrong, she ignored the pain and quickly stood up. "Mr. Montague, I'm sorry, I..."
Raymond looked at the broken glass on the floor and then at her exposed hands and ankles, which weren't cut.
Raymond really couldn't wrap his head around why, when it came to Selena, he always ended up in the most ridiculous situations.
He raised his hand to rub his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
After getting up, Selena felt super embarrassed. Why did she keep making a fool of herself in front of Raymond?
And why did she fall asleep in the hotel room?
Raymond didn't throw her out, which showed how well-mannered he was.
Probably in his eyes, she was no different from those women with messy private lives.
Selena sighed.
Other things were secondary; she just didn't want to piss off Raymond and risk him canceling the contract in anger.
Even though Raymond's order wasn't crucial anymore, she had never had an order canceled in her career.
Especially not Raymond's. If it got canceled because of this, it would be really embarrassing.
"Mr. Montague, you go back to rest. I'll clean up the shards and leave," she said apologetically.
Raymond looked at Selena and saw a hint of fatigue in her lowered eyelashes, feeling inexplicably soft-hearted.
"Ran into trouble in Ridgefield?" he asked.
Selena was stunned. Being cared for on such a night made her eyes a bit moist.
"It's already resolved. I was just too tired. I'm really sorry," she said, her voice trembling slightly.
After being yelled at all night by Brian and Erin, her brain hadn't rested for a moment. Coupled with the anger from Jacob, she had a pounding headache on the drive back.
Raymond didn't want to argue with Selena any further. He turned and said over his shoulder, "Don't bother cleaning. Leave in the morning."
