Chapter 27
It was an unsigned message, and even though it wasn't from a Facebook friend, she knew it had to be from Raymond.
He was asking her to meet at Montague Manor? Was this about the divorce?
Selena didn't really care; divorced or not, it didn't matter much to her.
After checking out a bunch of famous designs, she had a rough idea in her head and planned to visit Manston Manor tomorrow to get a better look.
The next morning, Selena drove over to the Montague Group.
Since she was going to check out the house, she figured she should let Raymond, the owner, know and had a few questions for him too.
This was her second time at the Montague Group. The receptionist seemed to remember her and frowned as soon as she saw her. "Sorry, for business stuff, you need to contact our commercial department. To see Mr. Montague, you need an appointment. Thanks for understanding."
Last time Selena was here, the receptionist had already decided she was just another woman trying to get close to Raymond.
"I'm Mr. Montague's interior designer. I just need to ask him a few questions. Could you please let him know? It'll only take ten minutes," Selena said.
The receptionist looked her over, noticed her confident vibe and clear eyes, and then made a call.
A minute later, she hung up and said, "Turn right. Mr. Montague said you can take the private elevator to the top floor."
Once her identity was confirmed, the receptionist's attitude got way better, clearly tired of all the women waiting around for Raymond.
Selena walked to the private elevator, just about to step in when it stopped, and out came Catherine.
What was Catherine doing here?
Before she could dodge, Catherine spotted her. "Selena?"
Catherine looked surprised, then angry. "What are you doing here? Trying to bother Raymond? Didn't I make myself clear last time?"
Catherine tried to keep her cool.
"Selena, if you need money, I can give it to you, but there's no way between you and Raymond. I don't want things to get ugly. You know Raymond's always had someone he likes," Catherine warned.
"Mrs. Montague, I'm here for work," Selena said.
Catherine looked skeptical; she'd never heard of Selena's company, probably a small studio. How could it have ties with the Montague Group?
Catherine frowned, her gaze sharp. "Did you use Raymond's wife's identity again?"
Selena felt a bit uncomfortable but held back. "No, I said I wouldn't bother Raymond. If you don't believe me, call him right now. Since he got back, I haven't tried to see him."
Catherine frowned, pointing to the private elevator. "This elevator is only for Raymond's use. Were you about to get in?"
Selena was speechless. Why did she have to run into Catherine?
"I didn't know it was a private elevator. So, where's the employee elevator?" Selena asked, keeping her cool.
Catherine pointed to the other side. "Over there. But Selena, let me warn you, don't have any hidden motives."
Selena stayed polite, nodded to Catherine, and walked to the other side.
Once inside the elevator, Selena finally felt relieved.
If Catherine thought she was bothering Raymond, she'd probably cause trouble for her studio.
Selena realized she had to keep things strictly professional with Raymond.
The elevator reached the top floor, and John led her to Raymond's office.
Raymond was on the phone, signaling her to sit on the sofa.
Selena nodded and quietly sat down.
Raymond sounded a bit annoyed. "I told you I haven't seen her. Mom, stop being so suspicious."
It was Catherine on the phone.
Catherine really did call to check on her.
"Raymond, I saw her at the Montague Group. She must be there to see you. Be careful; don't let any child issues come up before the divorce. The Fair family has many schemes," Catherine said.
Raymond frowned. Did she come to the Montague Group?
She must have come to see him.
The Fair family really wouldn't give up.
Thinking about the delay in the divorce, Raymond felt super frustrated.
