Chapter 180 Jealousy

Raymond kinda remembered Lillian; she worked at the Montague Group, so he gave her a slight nod.

Lillian, looking shocked, covered her mouth, peeked inside, then back at Raymond.

Wait, wasn't Selena married? Her husband couldn't be Raymond, right? If he was, Carter would've introduced her as his wife, not just a friend.

But here it was, nighttime, and Raymond was leaving Selena's room.

Everyone at Montague Group knew Raymond was super aloof and barely talked. No way he'd meet a woman in private. Even if Selena was his designer, they should've met at the office.

Lillian suddenly thought of a painting Selena had done.

She'd assumed Selena just drew it for fun, but now it seemed like she and Raymond had a history.

Otherwise, how could someone as young as Selena become Raymond's interior designer? Must've been through connections.

Lillian looked down on women who used such tactics and felt a bit grossed out, but with Raymond right there, she didn't show it and just wanted to get back to her room ASAP.

Raymond glanced in the direction she came from, thinking, 'A neighbor?'

"Penny has a fever. If no one's looking after her, please help out," he said coolly, heading to the elevator.

Lillian hesitated but then asked, "Mr. Montague, I'm Carter's girlfriend. Carter said she's married. Her husband should be back soon, but he's super busy and comes home late."

Lillian wasn't sure why she was saying all this.

She thought it was already pretty lucky for a receptionist like her to be with Carter.

She never expected a married woman like Selena to catch Raymond's eye.

So many women in Silver Bay City wanted to marry him.

Lillian lowered her gaze, probably out of jealousy. How could a married woman be good enough for Raymond?

Raymond was top-tier. Meeting him here was already him lowering his standards.

Women get jealous. Lillian used to think she wouldn't be jealous of anyone, considering how lucky she was.

But compared to Raymond, Carter was still lacking in many ways.

Raymond was already in the elevator. Since Lillian, as a neighbor, said so, it seemed there indeed was a man in that household.

No men's shoes were around; maybe they just hadn't been put out yet.

Raymond pressed the button for the first floor and didn't say much more.

After he left, Lillian stood there, suddenly feeling a bit regretful.

How could she say such things? After all, Selena had helped her with Carter.

Even though she hadn't met Grace tonight and was called back by Carter midway, Selena had given her Grace's room number.

Feeling a bit guilty, Lillian went to Selena's unit and gave her some medicine.

Selena was already lying on the couch. Seeing Lillian come in with fever-reducing medicine, she accepted the help.

After taking the medicine, Lillian covered her with a blanket. "Penny, here's some water. If you wake up in the middle of the night and feel really bad, just call me."

Selena mumbled a thank you in her drowsiness.

After leaving the room, Lillian got a call from Carter. She eagerly told him about meeting Raymond and made sure to mention she took care of Selena.

Lillian not only wanted Selena to owe her a favor but also wanted Carter to see her value.

Carter made the call in front of Grace, who didn't know who the girl on the other end was but vaguely heard, "Penny is sick, with a high fever."

Grace said, "Carter, come with me to see Penny."

Carter shook his head. "Mom, you need to stay in the hospital yourself."

Grace said firmly, "Tomorrow morning then. Come early to pick me up, and we'll go to her place."

Carter felt a bit guilty, worried that Lillian living across from Selena might cause some trouble.
