Chapter 1461 Knowing When to Bend and When to Stand Firm
Valencia's face darkened, and he tightened his grip on his cane.
Even if Lyle was a disappointment, he was still the grandson Valencia had spoiled since childhood.
Selena showed no mercy.
Lyle's wailing echoed through the room, but no one dared to speak up.
Selena had already helped Emilio to the infirmary.
Back at the chaotic scene, the principal's face was ashen as he hurried over to Valencia.
"Mr. Warner, what do you think we should do about this...?"
His mind was still in turmoil, unable to believe what had just happened.
If he offended Selena, what would he do?
He was panicking, his palms sweaty.
"Mr. Warner, this Selena is very vindictive. She almost made Lyle a eunuch today and was so brazen in front of you. Should we send her to the inner island?"
Valencia's eyes were sharp as he gripped his cane.
The principal's suggestion was clear: he wanted the families on the inner island to put Selena in her place.
The inner island was home to many wealthy people, including the four major families, but even among them, Selena's wealth was top-tier.
Twenty billion dollars was nothing to her. She was incredibly wealthy.
Valencia might have spoiled Lyle, but he wasn't stupid. He knew what the principal was thinking.
He signaled to two bodyguards, who immediately grabbed the principal.
The principal panicked. "Mr. Warner, what are you doing?"
Valencia waved his hand dismissively. "We're replacing you. Let's see who Ms. Fair wants as the new principal."
The principal's pupils contracted, and his face turned pale.
Valencia stepped forward, his tone commanding, "Everyone disperse. Lyle and the principal will be handed over to the police."
This was a stand for justice over family loyalty.
Lyle, who had been playing dead on the ground, was terrified and clung to Valencia's leg.
"Grandpa, I was wrong! I really was wrong!"
He cried, snot and tears streaming down his face, but Valencia kicked him away.
"Get lost! How did I raise such a useless grandson?"
Lyle and the principal were quickly taken away by the bodyguards.
Valencia, still holding his cane, continued giving orders. "Ursa, you will kneel here until Ms. Fair's anger subsides."
Ursa's legs went weak with fear. If Lyle was treated like that, what chance did she have?
She knelt down, trembling all over.
Valencia finished his instructions and then turned to another bodyguard.
"The house Emilio lives in is owned by the Warner family. Have someone give him the land, rebuild the house, and send more supplies to his family. Make sure it's done sincerely."
"Yes, Mr. Warner."
After giving all these orders, Valencia finally relaxed a bit.
In the infirmary, Emilio had been bandaged up. He was pale from blood loss.
Selena asked, "What do you think of Valencia?"
"He knows when to bend and when to stand firm."
Valencia didn't have to come in person today. Someone of his status surely had connections on the inner island.
These wealthy families had intertwined interests, so the Warner family wouldn't take too hard a hit.
But Valencia still came personally.
Selena's eyes narrowed, and a smile played on her lips.
"It seems he doesn't want the Warner family to collapse."
Emilio lowered his lashes, his voice soft. "And that thing you said..."
The comment about twenty billion dollars had made Valencia wary.
Selena looked down at her hand. "Actually, I'm here looking for someone. If Valencia proves reliable, I might consider working with him."
Emilio didn't know who she was looking for. Selena's wealth was astonishing, and he felt the tattoo on the back of his neck heat up.
Maybe, he really could survive.
That evening, they returned to the small courtyard to find the house completely renovated, with workers still busy with the finishing touches.
The children gathered around the newly installed double doors, their faces full of joy.
"Emilio, these doors are so beautiful."
"The house suddenly has so many new things. We didn't dare touch anything until you got back."
The kids looked at Emilio with wide eyes, tears of concern in their eyes.
"Emilio, are you hurt? Did someone bully you?"
Emilio quickly reassured the children and then went to check on Ophelia.
But Ophelia lay in bed, silent and still.
