Chapter 1375 She Knows Me, Yet She Changed
Selena slept in his arms, completely unaware of their conversation.
A security guard approached from the entrance. "Mr. William, we've repaired Ms. Fair's phone."
Raymond took the device, turning it over in his palm thoughtfully.
The security added, "However, someone installed software that deleted all information—our hackers couldn't recover anything. We've removed all that malicious code; it's just an ordinary phone now."
Raymond acknowledged with a nod, not having held much hope anyway.
Rubbing his temple, he ordered Mario to be brought in. Mario had been wandering throughout the seventh floor recently, using the pretext of searching for memories.
If he couldn't produce anything useful soon, Raymond would stop waiting.
When Mario arrived and saw Selena, he raised an eyebrow subtly.
Raymond, sitting on the sofa, spoke coolly, "Remembered anything?"
Mario instinctively moved to sit across from them, but Raymond's brow furrowed.
"Mario, do you think I brought you overseas for a vacation?"
Mario's gaze lingered on Selena before he finally asked, "What's happened to her?"
Raymond stroked her head gently, his touch full of tenderness.
"Is that you asking, or Christopher?"
Mario frowned, uncertain himself.
The space remained quiet for a long moment before Raymond finally spoke hoarsely, "She's been hypnotized. She remembers me, but she's not herself anymore."
Mario's frown deepened. He felt compelled to move closer but knew Raymond was fiercely possessive. He took several steps forward, stopping three feet from Selena.
"Hypnotized?"
Raymond nodded, his tone flatter but his eyes filled with quiet intensity. "Hypnosis combined with drug administration—their specialty."
Hearing this, Mario felt Christopher stirring within him. Christopher's consciousness always became more active in Selena's presence.
After a moment, Raymond watched as Mario slowly crouched down, studying Selena's face intently.
Raymond immediately pulled Selena deeper into his embrace like a protective wolf, eyeing Mario warily.
"What are you doing? Why are you staring at her?"
"Raymond, when she awakens, take her here."
Raymond instantly recognized that the person before him was no longer Mario, but Christopher.
Christopher quickly grabbed paper and pen from the table and wrote down an address. "Take Selena to this location."
Raymond studied him, with many questions unasked. The research facility was Christopher's deepest trauma; perhaps even he didn't know its exact location.
"How did you escape back then?"
Christopher's body tensed, his hand trembling involuntarily.
He opened his mouth to speak but ultimately shook his head. "I don't know. Someone helped me—I don't even know her name. She was a powerful hypnotist who once hypnotized me. The days in that research facility were horrifically dark, hiding humanity's greatest evils. If I remembered everything, I couldn't have left that place functioning normally. Others who escaped quickly went insane. She helped me forget the darkest memories so I could live a normal life."
"Christopher, what exactly were the experiments about?"
Christopher tensed again, rubbing his temple. "I honestly don't remember much."
"You're keeping secrets from Mario. If you hide things from me now, we might all die eventually. I'll die, Selena will die, and those people will win. Is that what you want?"
As Raymond finished speaking, Christopher's face suddenly turned pale, and then Mario regained control.
His face contorted with rage, barely containing his anger. "What were you two discussing? Are you keeping secrets from me?"
Raymond fell silent, seeing no point in talking to someone as obtuse as Mario.
Holding Selena in his arms, he buried his face in her neck, though his words were meant for Christopher.
He said, "Christopher, if you remember anything, you'd better tell me the truth about those experiments."
Mario's eyes brightened, and he stood up straight. "Yes, Christopher, tell us! What's the truth about the experiments? Say something!"
But no voice answered in his mind, as if Christopher had completely vanished.
Mario slammed his fist against the wall in frustration, bloodying his knuckles.
"Useless!" He felt agitated, irritated by the sight of Raymond holding Selena. Damn it all—these people should all just die!
